Access to a shortcut file

I have an external hard drive, that all my files have been copied. On the computer of the Moose, there is a shortcut on the desktop that is connected to the computer that crashed. How can I access my external hard drive folder which is always looking for the short cut from the top of office?

Hello

OK, a couple of things different on your workstation. First, it was created in the Microsoft answers Site Feedback Forum. This is the section dedicated to questions about the site itself and not necessarily computer issues. The moderation team has moved your question to the files and folders Forum where the answers community can consider your question and provide assistance on this issue.

Second, this should be a quick fix.

Remove the current bad shortcut files.

Navigate to the location of the files and right click on the folder that the files are in and select "create shortcut".

Slide that you new short cut on your desktop or where you want to access it... drop!

Fact.

Why is the easy access make a shortcut on your desktop in Windows 7.   In the past you can click on a program in your menu, right click, and the opportunity to create a shortcut, and I do mean immediately, instantly on your desktop, not the taskbar.  Now, it's almost if not totally impossible. If it is possible, my computer HP 2000 has a major defect.  Can someone please give me secondarily reasoning why they did it and... mainly how I can create a shortcut to any program, not just a file within that program?

I guess it depends on what your menu calls?

Click the Start button and click on all programs on the bottom.

Scroll through the list of programs and do a right-click of Office word, open the folder Microsoft office as your example

Point to send to and click Desktop (create shortcut).

  • Keyboard shortcut file strategy

I would keep the file for my keyboard shortcut in a special place with a special name.

But now, I can't understand where the PS pulls the file from and honestly I don't know things get twisted in so doing.

What others are doing on their keyboard shortcut file.

I can't really understand where it accesses the most, it is confusing, especially the versions change.

What is the best strategy for this?

    Hey Kevin,

    Photoshop saves the keyboard sets at * home folder * / Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop * version * / Presets/keyboard shortcuts

You can save your game anywhere you want, but for Photoshop to see, the .kys file should be in this directory

  • The folder list is not the WIndows shortcut files

    Hello

Why the 'Folder list' vi does not have the Windows shortcut files? Short WIndows files have an extension of "*.lnk", I'm using Labview 2011 SP1 on a WIndows XP Professional computer, the shortcut files on a mapped network drive.  I can find the files of shortcut if an open one window cmd and use the dir command.

A potential problem is that you might be looking at the wrong place. A shortcut to a file appears in the list of files, and a shortcut to a directory appears in the list of directories. However (at least LV2011) shortcuts to directories that don't exist - as a disconnected network drive - as highlighted in the list of files.

    Hi Jemd3,

I suggest you to completely remove Norton of the system using Norton Removal Tool and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Maybe it's that your computer is affected by virus and malware. I suggest you run an online anti-virus scan and a scan for Malware. See the links below.

  • Why some items in 'Open an existing project' have just the name of the project and others have access to the entire file path?

I have SP1 2012 LabVIEW and on the main screne of LabVIEW selecrt "show projects".

Why some elements of 'Existing Open' (project) have just the name of the project and others have access to the entire file path?

Examples of two lines in the list of projects.

    Ping.lvproj (with a path: C:\Users\mlevine\Documents\MPCE EQT\EQT Software\Ping.lvproj)

C:\Users\mlevine\Documents\Common package Mission trainer (CMPT) \SUW Surface Warfare\Weapon permission Panel (WAP) \WAP LabVIEW Software\WAP fire authorization server 28 April 2015

No chance, it's because I made a copy of this software and stored on a network drive power off and it went out of this network drive?

So if LabVIEW sees two or more versions of the same software, he decides to use the name to differentiate between full path?

I'd still rather it shows just the name of the project and if you hover over the name it shows the full path.

    Thank you

    Mark

If you have opened a project of the same name from a different location, it is when it shows the full path both - in this case showing just the name of the project would not help because it would be the same thing!

  • Tried to install iTunes 10... error message... couldn't access network location \common files\.

Hi, I have really not much about computers, I'm sorry. I tried looking for answers myself but I do not understand much of the language and I don't know if I read the appropriate information.

I wanted to update my iTunes on my computer (Windows XP) but it doesn't seem to work when I searched for upgrades and click Yes, I want to update. Nothing happened.

So I uninstalled my iTunes and I tried to install iTunes 10. But when I did, I got an error message with the title of iTunes + QuickTime... say... couldn't access network location \common files\.

I uninstalled QuickTime, hoping that would help, but of course not knowing what I was doing. It did not help.

What I Googled, it seemed I had to look at something in the term. I arrived at the spot but have not seen any obvious errors. But then again, I had really no idea what I was looking at!

I would really appreciate if someone could help me with a language very very basic.

    Thank you very much.
    -Emma.

    Hi Arto90,

Try these steps and check the result.
Step 1: Create a system restore point
    a. see the point of creating a restore

Note: You can always return to a previous state by selecting the restore point.

Step 2: Check if the administrators have full control on C:
    a. Click Start, click computer.
    b. right-click on C:, and then click Properties.
    c. click on the Security tab, select Administrators under "Groups and usernames" and check if they have total control.

Step 3: Try to run the program as administrator
    a. Locate the launch of the program, right click on the file and click Properties.
    b. click on the Compatibility tab and place a check on "Run this program as Administrator" under "privilege level".
    c. click ok to apply the changes.

  • Some files have transformed a 'green' color, others are the normal 'black' - access denied to 'green' files

Some files on my external hard drive (MS office files) are suddenly inaccessible - I get an 'access denied' and the files are "green." Not all the files have changed. I have not changed all permissions. I have home access to the full administrator on this laptop.

I use Windows Vista Home premium.

Can someone help me with this please.

I've never heard of a file becoming green before - it may be a security program or another program third-party (I don't think it's Vista).  The best thing to do is to check and change the permissions and if necessary take possession of the files/folders.  Do you have a third-party suite (or anti-virus program) security or firewall program (if so, what name and which version)?  Here is an example of a program that causes the problem to deny access AND lights up green files: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/computer-tips/how-to-encrypt-your-computers-hard-disk-data-and-files-for-free/.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.

Good luck and I hope this helps!
