  • I downloaded 14 updates for windows xp sp3 from the windows update site, but they all failed to install. Any ideas?

This failure occurred only after I upgraded to IE 8 (powered by msn and Bing). This is the second time I tried to download and install the microsoft updates and had them fail. Any ideas?

Hard & more difficult scanning with multiple AV programs (not at the same time)

You can access Kaspersky or Norton site? If this isn't the case, then you definitely a virus blocking area.

  • Anyone know if there is a problem with the "Windows Update" site? Since May 11, 2010...

Anyone know if there is a problem with the "Windows Update" site? As of May 11, 2010 I could not access it for 2 days now.  I get an error report indicating that he has a "problem with the site '... Not sure if it's my computer or the site itself. I just need to check updates and download them. I would be grateful for any feedback...  Thank you!
    ~ Jenifer

It is without a doubt.  There were a few patches published today, and I was able to update all my machines successfully.  This looks more like a virus problem.  Have you run a virus scan recently?  Many times, if you are infected the virus will prevent you to access Windows Update.

You can also use Microsoft Fix It to reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058.  This could also be your problem.

Let me know how it goes,

What type of Internet connection you are on, wired or wireless? If you are on a wireless connection, try to switch to a wired connection and try the download with Internet Explorer.

    1. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336> [ignore the title, etc.], reject modes and then AGGRESSIVE and pop-up troubleshooting automated, then run difficulty he 50202 in DEFAULT. [Ignore warnings "Not recommended", etc.]

    2. restart & test.

Full disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not list the updates installed in Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP)
