I am not able to access the MS Update site and receive page cannot be displayed error when I browse them directly or search results. I am able to navigate without problems to other web sites. Any ideas? I see all kinds of references to this in all directions, but the solutions that have been suggested do not work for me. I use McAfee anti-virus following personal firewall installed - version 10.15. I tried to disable the firewall (some messages indicate that this is what keeps me to access the update site), but still cannot access the MS. Update site
Any ideas?

This failure occurred only after I upgraded to IE 8 (powered by msn and Bing). Previously, I had automatic updates to download updates, but let me chose when allow updates... when I was using IE 7. This is the second time I tried to download and install the microsoft updates and had them fail. Any ideas?
Surprise, surprise... When I shut down my computer last night 14 all updates have been installed. I was given a chouce when came the turn off computer area. He said that I could either click the icon to turn off (and install updates) or click on another line to not install updates. I clicked to install and the computer went to the blue screen that she normally does in the judgment he said the updates were being setup and don't stop or unplug the computer.
Thanks for your help, people!

"0x80072eff", that's what I get when I try to access the windows update site. cannot go further. any ideeas?
Thank you
I think that your machine feed some MS, blocking of malware.
Hard & more difficult scanning with multiple AV programs (not at the same time)
You can access Kaspersky or Norton site? If this isn't the case, then you definitely a virus blocking area.
These pages might be useful:

Run the malicious software removal tool:
Try to use another uninfected machine to see these articles & download latest anti programs anti-virus & updates in offline mode. Then those of the infected machine transport of optical disc.
Don't use USB drives because the virus will try to put a back to itself on your storage device USB that will infect the machines in the future or infect your newly developed system in shape again.
In the worst cases, or for beginners full disk HARD formatting & at the same time the formatting of USB storage are more protective defense.

Anyone know if there is a problem with the "Windows Update" site? As of May 11, 2010 I could not access it for 2 days now. I get an error report indicating that he has a "problem with the site '... Not sure if it's my computer or the site itself. I just need to check updates and download them. I would be grateful for any feedback... Thank you!
~ JeniferIt is without a doubt. There were a few patches published today, and I was able to update all my machines successfully. This looks more like a virus problem. Have you run a virus scan recently? Many times, if you are infected the virus will prevent you to access Windows Update.
You can also use Microsoft Fix It to reset the Windows Update components: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058. This could also be your problem.
Let me know how it goes,
Barbara

I use firefox as my web browser and I can't on the Windows Update site, it just telling me that the connection was reset. I click on try again, but just showing the same thing please help
What type of Internet connection you are on, wired or wireless? If you are on a wireless connection, try to switch to a wired connection and try the download with Internet Explorer.
1. open Internet Explorer (only!) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336> [ignore the title, etc.], reject modes and then AGGRESSIVE and pop-up troubleshooting automated, then run difficulty he 50202 in DEFAULT. [Ignore warnings "Not recommended", etc.]
2. restart & test.
Full disclosure: the difficulty operating in AGGRESSIVE mode will remove your update history but not list the updates installed in Add/Remove Programs (Windows XP)

I am running Windows XP Professional SP3 with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. Windows is no longer automatic updates (don't know how long it has been like that), and when I try to manually check for updates from the Windows Update Web site, an error is returned: 0 x 80070424. After some troubleshooting, I found that Windows Update is missing in the Services list. Also, I ran a few Microsoft Fix It solutions without success. Please notify.
Hi Gregs,
