Account restriction - Contacts App

Hello everyone, I have an iPhone 6 + and I'm trying to block it so my son can not add contacts to his phone.  I went to and set restrictions on the phone to prevent changes on account settings since he says includes contacts, but I can still add.  Am I missing something here?  It's not supposed to work like this?

Thank you

Hey hard2config,

I can understand wanting to set the phone to your son with restrictions.

If you take a look at this article, Restrictions of use on iPhone, iPad and iPodtouch goes above what you can set restrictions.

The setting you are looking at is a restriction which prevents the account settings to be changed, not the content of the contacts.

Lets me know if that helps.

See you soon!

Contacts app needs a bit of love programmer.

I am trying to create a new group of contacts (* no * a "Smart group").

I created the (file-> new group) group.  Tried to created in the section of the sidebar and "on my Mac" iCloud Same behavior.

I select "All Contacts" and enter a keyword to search for. If the contact is not in the Contacts, but is in the Mail, you * must * "Add to Contacts" entry allows you to drag the contact into a group.

You * might * be able to do it once or twice, but soon the Contacts won't you allow to drag anything else in the new group you created.

All this experience?  Or a solution?

    Hi there, Mark Rushton!

Contact groups can be quite practical, and I understand your message you are having a little trouble to create yours--you cannot drag contacts you want in the Group shortly after. I know it's important to be able to create these groups with all you need, and I have a few steps, we can try troubleshooting.

    1. Exit the Contacts App. Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard. While now Shift, re - open Contacts. Try to add to your group again.
    2. Restart your Mac. Click on the menu  Apple in the upper left of your screen, then select "Restart" in the menu dropdown. When the computer is back on, Contacts open and try to add to your group again.
    3. Test of a new user account. This will help determine if there is no data that could cause a conflict. Instructions on the configuration and test in a new user account can be found in the article from the link below.

    4. Try to create your group in Mode without failure. Use the following article to help get into Safe Mode. Even if the title is not specific to your question, it's still a big step to take. Safe mode runs checks on your system and prevent execution that might be the cause of some software conflicts.

Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

    Hello, RobbyNRW_Germany!

Thank you for reaching out by Apple Support communities. After reading your post, I understand that your app is not open very long - it will close unexpectedly after only a few seconds. I see as you have updated your iOS, force to leave the app and restart your iPad, but none of these steps have fixed the problem for you. I rely on access to my Contacts app every day, so I definitely want to make sure yours is accessible!

You already crossed some great troubleshooting steps to try to resolve the problem, so my recommendation here is the following. Each of these steps one to try in time and test after each is finished.

    1. Reset all the settings on your iPad under settings > general > reset > reset all settings. This removes any of your data, but it will return customizable settings (such as your background screen and display brightness, alert sounds and the Date and time settings) to the factory settings. It will also remove any Wi - Fi networks and saved passwords and delete all APN or VPN parameters used previously.
    2. Back up your iPad using iCloud or iTunes, and then restore the iPad to factory settings. If you don't know how to back up your iPad, the article below will guide you through the two iCloud and iTunes. Choose the option that suits you best.

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Once you have saved it, follow the steps in the following article to restore your iPad with iTunes on a computer by default.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings

    3. Configure the iPad like new (without restoring your backup, at least temporarily) when it goes to the default values. You can connect to iCloud, iTunes and App Store, iMessage and FaceTime with your Apple ID. Then test the app to see if it still crashes. If this is not the case, go ahead and restore your backup by following the steps described in the article in the link below.

    Hello kawaii_kbear07,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see that app to your iPhone Contacts anniversary Exchange from a contact to the incorrect year. I use my app to track birthdays as well, so I know how much it is important that we get this problem is solved. I have several things for you to try.

First of all, if your app is not respond and accept your changes, we'll go ahead and force him to leave the Contacts app by following the steps below:

Force a nearby application on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

Then, use the steps below to give your iPhone a fresh reboot:

Restart your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

And finally, after completing a reboot, please open the Contacts app and see if you get the same wrong result of the year.

  • Contacts app will not open on my iPad 2 Air

The contacts app ON my iPad 2 Air, opens for a fraction of a second, then closes.

Had the same problem.  As seen in another forum solution. It has something to do with the split screen. From the Email, drag right to open the shared contacts. Then drag completely to the left to have only Contacts. It remained open for me. Since then, I can open, use and close Contacts without him closing erratically. Now everything is back to normal.

  • The contacts app keeps crashing.

I need help because when I type all contacts, he keeps brining back me to the home screen. This error is annoying because now I can CLEARLY and OBVIOUSLY not to open the contacts application. It's not a third party application, it is the generalization of Contacts Apple out of the box from Apple. IM using the iPad 2 Air btw.

    Hi there daavvanderveen,

Looks like your Contacts application launches only for a split second, then closes. I'd leave the Contacts app specifically with the following steps:

Force an app to close the iOS

    1. press the Home button twice quickly. You will see small glimpses of your applications recently used.
    2. slide to the left to find the application you want to close.
    3. push upward on the overview of the application to close.

When you have done that reboot the device and test again the question:

iOS: switch off and on (restart) and reset

When you restart that should restore the application and leave open correctly. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes.

  • Problem of Medical ID health with emergency contact app

IPhone 6: any attempt to add emergency medical Ref. contact. It goes to my contacts but they are grayed out and unselectable. What's wrong?

Another poster had a problem with the addition of people who were in their favorites. If Yes, try to remove the person from Favorites, adding an emergency contact and then adding them to Favorites.

  • Contact App "merge".

I searched and thought I'd ask here.

I want to add an app that "merges" my contacts automatically or allows me to do. For example, a LinkedIn or Facebook entry merged with my contact company so I have only one of each person. I've tried a couple and they don't really cut it.

Believe it or not, the Blackberry 10 device I've used briefly does brilliantly and in native mode.

    Ideas anyone?

You know you can do it with the stock Contact app, right?

Navigate to one of the contacts to merge > Menu > Edit > Menu > join > select contact to merge > save.

  • "Unable to connect because of an account restriction" Windows XP virtual machine as administrator

I got virtual machine today and just downloaded some software that requires a reboot. Earlier, before the reboot, I wanted to remove my password I had set for the account, I went to the properties of the user in the control panel and changed my password for nothing. Problem is that now when I try to log in I get "Unable to connect because of an account restriction" even if I am the admin in the console. Anyone know how I can bypass this login/reset my password? I can not at all in the machine. I'm just stuck when connecting. And there is no safe mode F8 command at startup for virtual methods, I've tried. Thanks in advance.

Okay, so I managed to fix it myself.

For the love of everyone, go to your folder of VMS (search for it in the start menu if you can't find it), and ONLY if you have built your way out of a previous virtual disk (such as Virtual XPV HD) and always have access to this file, delete your virtual machine. This same folder. Then create a new machine with the file of virtual disk mentioned earlier, when you are prompted, and then run it. When it comes to the administrator, you will not have a password and it will record you up. Now, before closing, make sure that you change your password for an actual password to avoid that.

If you have followed this by following the instructions, you should have more, if not all of your files back and resumed control of the console. I hope this helps. :)
