Accuracy of wireless location

Hi all!

When you use the series 2000 or 4400 series location, with a series of APs - what is the General accuracy to locate the APs or Tags?

/ Kelvin

My sources say his remarks within 10 feet and the shrinking technology advances. I'd love to see down below 1 foot. It would really make some specific things

Hope this helps

  • Wireless location appliance

    Hello

We have a central server of WCS. One of our branches bought 2 WLC and 2710 wireless location appliance

Where is the best place to locate the device? In the remote site with the WLCs or centralized with WCS?

In addition, we purchased licenses for WCS with 'rent' for all our other AP so we would use their 2710 for other WLAN at other remote sites. (However, they (the remote site) should be the main beneficiary). This affects the location of the device?

    Appreciate your help,

    Andy

I really don't think it matters where is the location. However, since it's WCS that sends the information to the location for the treatment device, it would be probably more logical for the location device will be placed with the WCS server. I'm sure that from a bandwidth perspective, the best option is to keep the two devices nearby.

I can't really imagine a situation where you would need even to "prioritize" the benefits of the location device. Expect from a facility perspective, focusing more on the remote site before you add other systems.

  • Location of the Wireless Client

  • PROBLEM: M50 - 164 (satellite) Netgear WGT624 wireless

    Hello
I've just set up a Netgear WGT264 wireless router on my daughters (1 MB) cable Modem. The router works fine and all indicators work, including the LED of radiation. We can connect via RJ45 Ethernet and we can surf and Messenger, so all OK.
However, does not seem the Tosh 'know' wthat there is a wireless local area network - we cannot connect if the RJ45 cable is removed.
I tried to configure the on-board Tosh and the small and LED on the front is on and used the radar LAN wireless location, but didn't get any results. I just get a popup telling me to go on the "wireless device".
The integrated Tosh and the compatible Netgearlook, the two 802. 11 a/g, but I have no indication whatsoever of any activity.
Tosh is able to 'see' the Netgear independently to know if I have correctly configured (plug 'n play) style?
The online manual, under LAN wireless, said that some computers in this series are configured with a LAN mini-PCI Wireless card... If there is a switch wireless on the front, that means there is a map on board, or do I still need a mini-PCI card?
    Help me, please...

    Hello

Generally the fault 10 code should be solved by the re - install the latest drivers and uninstall and reinstall the device.
Please see the page of the Toshiba driver for the right driver and try to reinstall wireless driver. Once this procedure please check device manager if the exclamation yellow mark doesn t appear.
Please don t forget go on air wireless with FN + F8 key combination.
If that fails to solve the problem, then I'm afraid the device may be dead and must be replaced.

  • Photo location is incorrect.

I noticed the location for photos I'm taking is incorrect. What is the accuracy of the location, and it is editable?

go to menu, then settings, then map and compass and make sure both are checked and then recalibrate your compass. Make sure that when calibrate you your compass away from magnets or electronic devices. Also as a possible indicator good compass some people have had problems with compass it due to the fact that they used cell holders who had a top magnetic clasp. As to how accurate, although mine tells me that the city and State and also the code postal when I use it on the photos and he very well with google map too.

    Hi tuts69!

Welcome to Cisco Home Community Forums!

Unfortunately, it is not possible to extend the networks with the WRT54GS wireless since it does not have the connection ability. However, you can run a cable to him and set it as an access point. Here's how:

  • FF4580 cannot connect wireless - Windows 8

I historically used the HP F4580 under XP and Windows 7, but not wireless.  I have a new PC running 64-bit Windows 8 and I try to re install the F4580 but would prefer that it works wireless.

I downloaded the software and the drivers from the HP site and the printer works fine using a USB connection.

I am trying to convert from USB using the installation of HP Wi - Fi and it states that my SSID is not available. Even when I type the SSID it States is not avaialable.  He told me then the printer that I have chosen is not connected.

I added the printer by using the mac address of my router as a reliable source.

I configured directly from the device by using the wireless network wizard and has an IP address of the printer.

States printed scan wireless located upward and running and works well, but I cannot print to it wireless.  As soon as I remove the USB printer is not available.

I tried to delete the printer and restart and reinstall.  I disabled antivirus and firewall, but still can't print wireless.

Someone at - it other ideas or have I missed something really simple.

    Thank you

  • Low speed on Wireless N

I'm trying to implement a DV6 on Wireless N. I have a Linksys WRT160N router and get speeds up to 120mbps on a desktop wireless located near 100 feet from the router. I can not get over 54 Mbps on the laptop, even within 10 feet. I checked the properties of the device and verified that the width of the channel is set to AUTO and 802.11n Mode is ENABLED. I noticed the rest of my system below specs. Any help would be appreciated.

    LAPTOP MODEL: HP DV6

    Operating systems: Windows 7 (64-bit)

    RAM: 4 GB

WiFi ADAPTER: Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN

    PILOT: 13.0.0.107

    ROUTER: Linksys WRT160N

    FIRMWARE: 3.0.02

After much research, I believe I have solved the problems with the Wireless N of low speeds, especially with Intel WiFi Link 1000 BGN configurations. Here's what I could learn from Intel support forums.

"The IEEE * 802.11n draft prohibits using high throughput with WEP or TKIP as the unicast encryption algorithm." If you use these methods of encryption (WEP, WPA-TKIP), your rate will be reduced to 54 Mbit / s. Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5350, Intel® WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150, Intel® WiFi Link 5300, Intel® WiFi Link 5100, Intel® WiFi Link 1000, and Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN client drivers connect using a legacy IEEE 802.11 g connection rather than failing to connect altogether which complies with the IEEE 802.11n draft standard. "This means that you must use a connection Wi - Fi Protected Access * (WPA2-AES or WPA2-TKIP).

I have reset the wireless security on my router to use WPA2-AES, reconfigured my laptop for the same security settings and options was immediately connected to more than 200 Mbit/s.

  • BT Homehubs... AAARRRGGGHHHH

Exasperated, is a Word to describe how I feel... but directs them to the CabSav Wolfblass, must so fluffy soon...

I think I have another post similar to this elsewhere in this forum, so bear with me...

I already had a BT Homehub 1.0 (circa. 1960' ish...!)

It worked pretty well, but I've always been a little worried about default WEP security and the fact that he was starting to age a bit, then after a little begging I managed to blag a 3 Homehub off BT about a month or two ago...

This has a default WPA2 security and seemed to be a little quicker with regard to internet access.

However, the downside is that my iPad 2 and my wife no longer have "Location Service" active for meteorological applications, mapping etc...

My Mac, iPhone 5 s and my wife laptop Windows both still works OK, and iPads are very good, at the residence of the parents or on hotspots wi - fi...

BT has said it is a problem of iPad... I have to disagree.

This isn't a huge deal, but it's an annoying bitty...!

    Thoughts anyone...?

Should I go for a third part of curries or similar unit..?

I am in the United States and are not aware first hand of British Telecom.  But yes, I think it's their fault.

See especially the section "about the accuracy of the location or the accuracy" as well as notes here:

On privacy and location-based Services - Apple Support

Assuming that your iPad's Wi - Fi only, depends on the provider of Wi - Fi to provide the location.

  • Reassemble Satellite A30

    Hi all, beginner's.

It was so great to have the Satellite A30, that I had to disassemble it had broken pins in the external power Jack and the total repair cost!

Motherboard has been returned with the new socket and I put it back together again. BUT, there are two wires (a black & white one ending in the endpoints rubber, almost as if they should be able to fit into two pins somewhere) that come from the display unit and disappear into slot oblong m/Board.

No one knows where they are connected - PC repair shop suggested they floated around the bock wireless on M/Board - I would like to know the location appropriate for them.
    Robin

    Hello

These two mysterious son belong to the antennas wireless located in the cover of your screen and the little Gizmo on each wire is equipped with a mini-coax plug. The white wire is the main antenna and the black is the auxiliary. , so if you connect the wires on a map wireless take care and check the connector on the wifi card to one that is the main and auxiliary

  • Transfer logins again portable profiles?

I just received a T420s to replace my T61. Is there an easy way to transfer all the profiles of wireless location from the old machine to the new machine? I use the logins on the two machines, both have the latest versions.

Open the location profiles logins, and then select export only the profiles that you want to move to a file. On the new system you then just import them.

  • Wifi connection first

I tried to connect to the wifi area with a Belkin adapter connected to windows xp pro desktop pc. When I'm Home I can get several wireless stations local but none in wireless location. I tried to connect my linksys router and have my adapter connect. He worked at the location of the wifi but not Internet and no locaton present wifi signal. Also no wifi in view. Is my lack of wifi or problem signal weak or what I need to do something more? Thank you

Housing is a former brick hotel. The room is on the 6th floor. The street has a sign indicating that it is a free area of fi wi.

When I positioned the belkin adapter it's out the window. It is not the most powerful adapter. I need a new one and bought a more powerful linksys adapter makes 1,200 feet. Maybe he will.

Is it possible to transmit to my pc with the card without going through the router? When I finally used the router at home, he was connected to an optical fiber dsl line. I had other signals that were encrypted and unavailable. What I don't understand, is why I don't get any signals at this new location in downtown.

When I first started all I got a message saying that I had no connection. I then installed the router, put in the web code and was able to go wireless to the router.  .  My cell phone works on the same site. Of course, it's the way to learn this stuff... What is an outdoor antenna? Is it similar to those who bring TV signals or is this another special feature?

What exactly you are connect to?

If this is your wireless router, read the manual and it will have instructions for how ro secure its connection.

If you are connected to something else and it is not personally yours, you cannot change security, only the owner can.
