Acer aspire T160 bios update failure

While he was trying to upgrade my cpu Athlon 64 3500 T160 + to a core of 3800 + dual Athlon 64 X 2

Thinking that I have to update the bios of R02 - A3 to b1 - R02. (downloaded from the Acer site)

By using the program that comes with the Win Flash bios

By following the instructions here's what happened

Error message

Flash block erase failure

FWH Rom is write protected

Make sure that locking jumper is set to the right or not.

What is a rider of lockout and where is it located

Can someone tell me how or if I need to update to run the new CPU

Thanks in advance

Sandan

I think you should wait 60 days for version 10 of Windows to see if it can solve the problem.  10 Windows will automatically make sure you have good drivers (course to 99%).

It is possible that he is in fact a BIOS problem.  But all the advice I would give risk possible to break your computer permanently, and I don't want to do that because there's a pretty good computer (with the exception of windows xp).

I'm guessing Windows 10 retail copy will be cheap enough to buy.  I can't say with certainty that your computer will be in charge of windows 10, but I think it will be.

Also, even if it has nothing to do with your current number, you can not simply exchange cpu like this safely without applying new thermal paste.  There are a few videos on youtube from the manufacturers of motherboards that show you how to clean the old thermal paste and apply new thermal paste.  Make sure that the videos that you watch come from a motherboard manufacturer, not some Joe Blow.

And then if Windows 10 doesn't fix it, you have to decide at that point, if you want to take the risk of bricking messing with the BIOS of your computer permanently.

I'm sure you know that Windows XP is not supported and that there is a security risk.

Good luck!

Edit: Here's an alternative to Windows XP that works well for older computers of XP.

HELLO, I NEED HELP ON THIS.

I WAS updating THE BIOS ACER ASPIRE E1 - 471 VERSION 2.11 to 2.18 BUT GOT IN FAILURE, WITHOUT NORMAL MORE to IGNITE.

WHEN UPDATING THE FILE ORIGINAL WITH THE HELP OF THE ACER SUPPORT WEB SITE, RESTART THE LAPTOP TO WINDOWS POWER ON A BACK PAGE AND DISPLAY IT ON THE SCREEN...

    UPTATING:

    TRUE BIOS VERSION: ZQS 2.11

NEW VERSION OF BIOS: ZQS 2.18

PROGRESS...: 0% AND SCOPE WITH A 100% SUCCESS

AFTER THIS, THE LAPTOP REBOOT AGAIN AND POWER BLUE LED LIGHTS UP BUT NO SCREEN...

AT THE START OF THE LAPTOP, HARD DRIVE MAKING NOISE OF POWER ON AND.

NO SCREEN, THE COMPUTER PHONE IS FREEZE.

ON THE BACK THE INFORMATION OF THIS LAPTOP, THE BOOK SAYS:

    Aspire E1-471-6683

    MODEL NO.: ZQT

    .....

So Original BIOS was ZQS but the model said ZQT?

I have not found a repair for this model, so cannot move too much by myself.

You can with ACER Support me?

Thanks, it is a client of the portable computer of mine, I'm kind of scared at the moment.

    OK, thanks for the reply.

I got the sollution and will share with you now.

[edited to conform to the guidelines]

YOU WILL NEED TO FORMAT A USB STICK WITH FAT (16) PARTITION STYLE.

    -------

NOW, THE SECRET OF. FD FILE

YOU MUST PUT IN THE USB THIS FILE WITH THE EXTENSION. FD, BUT THE ACER DOWNLOAD SITE IS ENOUGH. EXE TO THE INSTALLATION, SO YOU GO ON ANOTHER COMPUTER (INCOMPATIBLE WITH ASPIRE E1 VERSION) AND RUN THE FILE...

YOU RECEIVE AN ERROR MESSAGE, BUT NOT CLICK NOW ON ANY BUTTON.

NOW, OPEN WINDOWS EXPLORER AND GO TO C:\USERS\(USER ACCOUNT)\AppData\Local\temp\7zS4F0C.tmp

INSIDE THIS FOLDER, YOU CAN GET THE ST. FD FILE (PERHAPS ZQS.) FD)

THAT COPY ON USB KEY AND CLOSE THE ERROR MESSAGE. (FOLDER WILL DISAPEAR AFTER THAT)

WITH THE FILE INSIDE OF THE SECONDARY KEY, FOLLOW THE MANUAL INSTRUCTIONS.

    BASICALLY:

Steps for the USB storage device BIOS recovery

To create a crisis USB key, perform the following steps:
    1. format the USB storage drive using the Quick Format option.
    2. save the ROM file (filename: ZQS.fd) in the root directory of the USB storage device. Make sure that there are no other file BIOS stored in the same directory.
    3. plug the USB storage on USB device.
    4. press the button, then connect power cable.
    5. the power button flashes once.
    6. press the Power button to start the CRISIS of the system mode.
    7. when the CRISIS is over, the system auto restarts with a possible BIOS.

    AFTER THAT

    8. update the latest BIOS version for this machine of normal BIOS flashing process.

YOU MAY HAVE ANOTHER PROBLEM LIKE ME, AFTER RECOVERING FROM CRISIS, BIOS NOW SEE THE ANY HARD DISK, SO YOU MUST UPDATE THE BIOS AGAIN WITH THE HELP OF ANOTHER TOOL LIKE HIRENSBOOT HELP FIXITURE MINI_XP.

    BUT IT IS ANOTHER CONVERSATION.

    THANKS FELLOWS.

  • Aspire 5742G BIOS update

Hello guys. as the title know I have Aspire 5742 G and on the download section of the site, I see theres a BIOS update. Now I have the old aspire 5315 and when I tried to update my bios on it I almost he bricked. So my question is: is it safe for update my BIOS on the 5742 G and going to improve my performance of the laptop. Right now, I feel the audio offset at random times (sometimes when I listen to music or watch film of any browser and sometimes using office applications online to watch movies offline). Also when I shift + del too fast (if I close the combination within 2-3 seconds) it does not read my shift (it shows the msg to send files to don't bin not permanently remove). Tried updates of windows, restore points, driver updates, driver rollback, windows cleaning install (more than 10 times), different windows (from windows 7, windows 8 and even I tried Ubuntu). Went to assosiated local tech with Acer and they said that they are unable to find the cause of the problem. So as a last resort im concidering to BIOS update

I would say that you can create a USB bootable flash BACK drive with Rufus:

    http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/?locale=en_US

Plug in your USB key, start Rufus and then set it as on the screenshot (FAT32 or FAT doesn't matter)

Once done, copy the contents of the BIOS BACK folder at the root of the USB flash drive.

Turn off your laptop, start by pressing F12 and select UFD as a boot device, once in the DOS environment type

    Update.bat

Follow the instructions on the screen.

Please make sure your battery is charged to 100% and your charger is plugged.

  • Satellite L40 - 12K - BIOS update failure

    Hi people,

It is the second Toshiba laptop, I've managed to screw up. I don't know why, but it seems that Toshiba is especially prone to spectacular failure of BIOS.

This laptop (Satellite L40 - 12K, short model PSL40E) has a bios made by FRIEND and Toshiba has an update on its Web site for windows that uses the tool of WinFlash.exe made by ASUS.

The tool only works for 32-bit operating systems, and I had installed a 64-bit version of Windows, I could not pass the laptop.

Then I thought: we will try to update the bios from MS-DOS, using a bootable flash drive!

I went to the ASUS ftp site and downloaded the latest AFUDOS (2.41). This is a special version of the afudos FRIEND tool, specially designed for ASUS.

I ran the tool under MS-DOS, and it will make sure the BIOS automatically confirmed that the binary file was compatible with the laptop model and automatically starts the process of flashing.

But it crash in the phase of "flash erase". He was stuck there for HOURS, so I turned off the computer and tried to turn it back on.

Not at all, the laptop won't turn. It does not even ANY SOUND. NO LIGHTS, NO NOISE, NO FAN, NOTHING.

    ABSOLUTELY AND COMPLETELY DEAD.

So, there you have it. I have flashed dozens of computers (servers, laptops, workstations, etc.) in my life, and I've only had TWO failures.

TWO of them were with Toshiba laptops. Geez, Toshiba is really the King of the failures of BIOS flashing!

    Hello

I would never try update the Toshiba BIOS with a BIOS from other support pages for computer laptop manufacturer
What to say; I found one from Toshiba victory of the BIOS and traditional BIOS Toshiba U.S. driver page:

    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com

Maybe you could try to Flash the BIOS using this version of BIOS
If this is not possible, then only a service provider authorized Toshiba would be able to help you.

By the way: I've had three different Toshiba notebooks: A210, U400, and now Tecra A11.
The BIOS update has worked perfect for all series...

  • Old Acer Aspire 5538 BIOS Flash?

I got an Acer Aspire 5538 for quite a while, my mother got to me as a gift. Recently, however, I was playing some good old Halo: THIS when the screen went black. He was still, was not showing anything. He had this whole "glow" you would see if a screen was turned on, but does not display anything. I thought, oh maybe that I was fired for a reason, and the game somehow crashed. I restarted the computer and it starts normally. I decided to play Halo 2, the Collection Master Chief being days of release. The screen is the same question as before, thought itself, well, "just won't work today...". Well. ill just it reboot and play some Xbox 360 ". Sfter that last stop, the computer has been seriously f * ked up. The POST screen wouldn't show it at all, no beeps (unless low battery, battery has been useless for years), nothing. The screen never even turned on at all. The fans were running thin, hard drive worked, CD player was fine. Just nothing put into service. never. Ive had this problem for several weeks now, and ive tried and failed the following:

    -Connect external monitor

-put the new BIOS files on USB, now Fn + ESC key during power (USB drive does not receive any current until Windows is upward)

-with the help of other hard drives

-removal of RAM, HARD drive, battery, etc. for 5 minutes, then re - insert and tries to start.

-put the files of the BIOS on a blank CD and insert it in the computer during startup

All the things above have failed, I looked for a tutorial on how to Flash the BIOS, but found nothing. I can't send in for repair, the warranty has expired, and there is no recipt (because it was a GIFT). I guess that the LCD screen was messed up, but when I was just trying to power on & power off the unit for signs of life, once the screen actually came. The hard drive and RAM were both, so I had to stop and put back them in. The unit showed no sign of life other than fully sensitive TouchPad disabler, power button, fans spinning, HDD from hum, etc. There has been no beeps, except when the battery is low.

Please, someone tell me. What is the problem with my laptop?

I also can't afford a new one, so please do not suggest that.

I did the oven on a HP G62 thing and it worked for 6 mo. If you can find a small shop who fixed game terminals, they usually have the special oven for this. I had a Board of a Playstation for $50, or you can get a new card (used) for $90.

  • Satellite P200D-137 - suspected of BIOS update failure

    Hello

My friend asked me to watch his old Satellite P200D of 2 days. He decides to perform the recommended Toshiba updates, after leaving the machine (plugged) and return after about an hour, he was off.

Now switch on the machine causes a black screen with just the hard drive, fans and dvd burner, turning the power on. This being the case, I feel, it was a BIOS update he did this failed. Is it possible to recover from this at all?

    Thank you

You know with certainty that it was done. If the BIOS update is screwed up, it can be problematic, and I'm afraid there is nothing you can do alone and without service.

  • HP Compaq 2510p Bios update failure (stuck in an eternal loop))

I wonder if anyone can advise me please?

I have a HP Compaq 2510p laptop that starts, displays this error message:

"Your Bios did not complete the update"

A few seconds later late in goes to the HP Invent screen. and then again the previous error message. These two screens cycle constantly and there is not only one key that I can use to access the bios settings.

Presseing F9, F10, F12 or F-everything works. No key command does not work. Can I not boot from the internal drive, CD, USB etc.

  • New BIOS update failure.

I bought an alienware 17 R3 8 GB of the USA 4 months ago. I live in Turkey where there is only one technical service of Dell in total. Yesterday, I did the BIOS update. Everything was ok, I turned to the bottom of the laptop and slept. But today, I realized that my computer is dead. Thank you for this great update. I'm a regular computer user. I don't know what to do.

If the fix above does not work, then I think your only option is to contact dell. You probably need a motherboard replacement.
