Acer eRecovery fails when upgrading from XP to 7

Hi - I have an Acer Veriton M265 that came with XP as a preload and rights to upgrade to Windows 7.

I wanted to run XP and load Win 7 then attempted to use the "Recovery" button on the front of the machine.  I could not recovery appear.  I had my own set of recovery CD (2 discs) and I launched the restore CD.  CD, I created when the system was born.  The installation runs through and looks like it will be successful.

But, after that a reboot (invited by the eRecovery software) Windows starts, shows the colourful animation, the join of the orbs in the middle of screen, screen shows "Starting Windows" and then nothing.  If you look at the Windows 7 4-color 'flag' it continues to vibrate but nothing else happens.  I left it this way for an hour.  I tried reinstalling from the CD at least 4 times.

But - I can do this: type Alt/F10 to the POST and I don't get a menu to change the boot with a training Path, Partition Options: 1, Hark disk: and then a note: [/ NOEXECUTE = OPTIN] if I press ENTER to continue, Windows 7 starts up normally.  IGet my desktop, icons and everything seems normal.  If I have a detour not with Alt/F10, then I'm back to the same blocked on Windows is starting up.

Is this something simple like an editing tool that the Boot.ini file is missing?  I can't get any guaranteed help Acer itself.  But I hope someone here will know the correct procedure to get the boot to complete sequence.

Thanks and I'll be standing.

Hoib

If your Advanced menu does not have a "Repair your computer" option, you will need a Windows 7 repair disk. You will need one computer working Windows 7 to make it one, if you do not.

The ERD also has the ability to "Startup Repair".

Good luck and let us know how you go!

  • Best practices for Smartview when upgrading from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007?

Anyone know the best practice for Smartview during the upgrade from Excel 2003 to Excel 2007?

Current users have Microsoft Excel 2003 with Smartview 9.3.1.2.1.003.

Computers are upgraded to Microsoft Excel 2007.

What is the best practice for Smartview in this situation?

    1. do nothing with Smartview and just install Excel 2007.

    2. install Excel 2007 and then uninstall and reinstall Smartview

3 uninstall Smartview, Excel 2007 installation and then install Smartview

    4 something else?

    Thank you!

We went with option 1 and it worked very well. Be aware that OAS Treaty substantially slower in Excel 2007 to 2003. Many users have been/is unhappy about the switch. We have not tested SV v11 yet, so I don't know if it has improved performance with Excel 2007 or not (hopefully it does).

  • Invalid # license when upgrading from vista to windows 7 using hp W7 Home Prem upgrade disc

    Hello

I bought your desktop at the end of Vista so I got a free upgrade to Windows 7, which made me send HP.

However, until the last days vista was work fine.  When he had problems, rather than research the issue, I finally used Windows 7 Home premium upgrade disk from HP that I got for free weeks after I bought my computer.

The upgrade went very WELL!  Until the end when W7 asked me my license number.  I entered the license number of Vista (which is the only one I have ever had - I have not received a license # with the upgrade).  Window 7 crossed the verifcation license and told me that my license number was invalid.

I tried to discuss with HP, but the site won't let me that my computer is no longer under warranty.

How can I go about solving this problem?  I have to call HP and get a license number or what?

  • Alienware 17 4 beeps on startup when upgrading from memory...

    Hello

I just got my new Alienware 17... When installing a SSD, I noticed that the locations of two memory under the lid without sticks in them so thought that I would upgrade it stock 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM, flipping the rear unit above and turn immediately got a 4 beep error code which I assume is a memory error?

Transformed and more and I tried a stick at a time in both slots and got the same problem.

Now I disconnect the battery when you install the SSD drive and every time I removed and added memory (I see this new design, causing some ESD melt downs that you do not have to remove the battery... anyway, I digress) which leaves me to suspect that there is some sort of lock BIOS or hardware that prevent me from adding additional memory?

Oh and we don't know good memory that I took the Hynix memory of my Alienware M17X R4, similar marked DELL Alienware 17 and she didn't...

Help, any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated, or perhaps a BIOS update to solve this... ?

I have improved my 18 Alienware who had 32 GB of 1600 MHz. 1.35v Micron RAM 32 GB Kingston HyperX 1866 MHz 1.35v RAM. After all, first install the RAM and turning on my laptop, I got these 4 beeps as well and I thought that maybe the RAM is not compatible or something but then I got just the power button for 5 seconds to force the shutdown of the laptop and then power back on then it worked well and have been using it like that for nearly 8 months. I suggest that you try to force the system to stop, and then walk back and try.

Note: I use the last A10 BIOS

  • project dependencies have changed when upgradeing from 2012 to 2014

Hello people and thanks for reading this.

I am in the process of upgrading LV2012 until 2014 and a question that I have met is that some dependencies (some dll associated with my drivers Rohde and Schwarz is is no longer taken into account and must be sought for each time the VI is responsible.)

DLLs have been initially installed (by installer of Rhode and Schwarz) in: C:\Program Files (x 86) \IVI Foundation\VISA\WinNT\Bin

I managed to get through the issue by moving the dll to: C:\Program Files (x 86) \National Instruments\LabVIEW 2014\user.lib

I know the problem search paths, but do not understand why he changed from 2012.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Chuck

The paths are part of the node function call in the wrapper library live

Could help to reinstall. I would also check to see if you need to upgrade the IVI Compliance Package.

  • When upgrading from 278 to 296? which directory will be update?

If I have hyperic 278 in/opt/hyperic/hq qnd upgrade to 296., IF I put the installation files 296
hq2 say what directory after an upgrade will be the last. It updates files in the directory of the AC or it will put the new expandable files in hq2.  What directory I use now to launch the improved version of the hyperic?

When asked for "Enter the full path of the HQ server to upgrade", you specify the directory of your existing installation. THIS WILL NOT BE CHANGED.

Then asked for the "HQ Server installation path" specifying the location where you want the new version (based on the old version upgrade) must be installed. The server at this location is the one you want to start the post upgrade.

  • Beware when upgrading from CF5 to 7

Finally convinced my company to buy the upgrade of CF5 to CF7 Enterprise. Got the CD CF7, but before you install, download the trial version of 30 days (converted to the developer after 30 days) and install on my PC, the "Developer" so I could test all my apps CF5, made some adjustments are required, before the production server upgrade to CF7.

According to the documentation (online and comes with CF7) and as I was told by the Adobe CF support (415-252-9080 installation only supported), you CAN install CF7 with CF5 left on your PC. CF7 even convert / will integrate both your CF5 settings as possible. Installation of CF7, went to CF7 administrator, put in place of the data sources, other settings, and everything worked. Do you have a server using IIS Configuration and kept all the apps in the c:\Inetput/wwwroot folder.

The documentation and technical support will tell you that you can uninstall CF5 whenever you are ready. So, I uninstalled CF5. Documentation and technical support don't tell you, whatever the CF5 uninstall will remove the CF for CF5 AND 7 administrator. So after the CF5 uninstall and re-boot, I could not access the administration of CF7. CF5 both CF7 store administrator at the same place:
c:\inetpub\wwwroot\cfide\administrator\index.cfm. When you uninstall CF5, this file is deleted.

Well, you can not run CF without the administrator. So, I looked on this forum, docs online and even called the Support Adobe technique. Guess what? Adobe support told me it was a installation PROBLEM is no LONGER, and I would have to pay $599 for a call of support unique, just to see if I could get my INDEX. CFM recovered/restored. Even if THEY are the ones who told me to install CF7 with CF5 left on the disc and remove CF5 when CF7 has been installed and working properly.

There is nothing on the backup of your folder of... \cfide\administrator, before deleting CF5. So, I had to completely uninstall CF7 and reinstall it. You can not re - install ' ON TOP OF ' as there is no "REPAIR" or similar options (hoped could give me this option, but it doesn't).

Well, 3 hours later (the re - install took about an hour for some reason, very slow) was up and running, data sources of restored CF7. But now, as I tried to install the free trial of 30 days TWICE (even if the 2 install was just 72 hours apart), it things I'm trying to get another 30 days out of it, place it AS a DEVELOPER VERSION WITH water MARKS ON SOME PAGES. You are supposed to get 30 days without a watermark on the 30 day free trial. I was expecting it, so I could show my business a few nice (no water brand) examples of what CF7 could do for our reports.

Now I have to upgrade a development PC CF5 to CF 7 1 (the first was my laptop, the 2nd is my office). Not sure whether A. remove CF5 Completely before installing the version 30 days free trial/developer, or B. do installation with CF5 left on the PC, then when it comes time to remove CF5, save folder... \cfide\administrator. In fact, shouldn't you save the folder integer c:\inetput\wwwroot, just to make sure?

Only problem is I can close restore some programs CF5, or copy on CF7 programs with some old programs CF5. There is tons of stuff in there and don't know who's who.

Does anyone have suggestions until I make it again, on which is the best way to do the upgrade? Delete firstly, CF5 or keep it and backup/restore after removing CF5? Thank you for any help or advice.

    Gary

It was an old message, but yes, you're right. Copy the CFIDE folder in the web root, and you ask your administrator to CF. So far, am in love with CF7. Great program, especially WebCharts 3D. There are better trace programs (including the latest version of WebCharts), but one that comes with CF7 is much better than what came with CF5, and it's free. Gary.

    Hello

If you can start with 8 Win Media and select REPAIR installation screen, you will get Repair Options...

Select troubleshooting, then advanced... You MIGHT have an option for going back to a previous operating system...

Another thing on the start menu...

If you go into MSCONFIG... The STARTUP tab, you will probably see a list of which appears when you start your machine... There will be options to select one as the default...

I delete anything again, until get you a better idea as to what is still usable.
