  I got this Acer Iconia A500 for quite awhile. I love this little tablet and never had a problem since the purchase.   There are two sides to look at when you are troubleshooting a problem: software and hardware.

  Discovered that there is a single machine 32-bit EFI. Managed to adapt the Ubuntu image to have a 32-bit efi loader and managed to start the USB key. Always difficult to install but at least I'm in.

  I have an Olympic Iconia A510 edition.

  It would be likely that the port of loading is damaged when the cable was torn off and is it easy to repair / replace.
