Acer laptop CD/dvd drive does not
My cd/dvd drive worked perfectly until a few days ago but now it only reads CD/DVD blank and I can't burn discs as well.
Device Manager indicates that the sound works properly and drivers are up to date. I tried to uninstall drivers and reinstall, no luck. Restore the computer to an earlier date when it was working fine, no chance. I tried the "Fix It" tool, but when downloading the tool, I get an error message "encountered a problem, try again later".
I was told that it could have been an update to windows vista that caused this problem?
Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.
Hello
Try all of these methods of top down can help. Re-install Vista could be useful that the reader will always be
function and the problem's parameters - definitely worth it.

Satellite L500-126-CD/DVD drive does not open very well unrolled
Hello
I just got my second Satellite L500-126.
I traded my first for a new because the ESCAPE key got stuck sometimes and made a grinding sound. Now, with my new one, I noticed that my dvd drive does not open very well unrolled and 2 bars of silver metal bit come out with the car when I open it.
Is this normal? Also, when I close the dvd player, I hear a little noise "ping!"
Like a spring, or something. Is that also normal? Thanks in advance.
Hello
I'm not quite sure what you mean by 2 small bars of silver, but the reader of my laptop s contains two metals (runners, railway).
This is normal and these pieces are important to ensure that the drive can eject properly and could remain in a good position.
Still, you will hear a short click Open and close the drive. So I guess it's ok.

I am running Vista Home Premium on a laptop Compaq Presario F700. It is listed in the list of computers of readers, it is listed in Device Manager. The lites drive that the computer boots so I know it is detected. When you run itunes or media player the player does not open. When I push the drive button it will not open. It opens with a paperclip in the exit hole. It cannot read a CD or a DVD. None of the media players even recognize there is a disc in the drive. I tried to run fixit, but it would not drive either. I tried restoring from a previous backup, without change.

Re: CD/DVD drive does not seem to start the DVD in Satellite P750
My CD/DVD drive does not seem to start DVD, it runs and runs and the only way I can run a DVD (i.e. film) is using Windows Media Center, while the software to install must be enabled in Windows Explorer.
Anyone?
Help, please.
Thank you!Have you tried to change AutoPlay settings?
Open Control Panel and Auto game options. Enable the option Use AutoPlay for all media and devices. Also change other options, especially for DVD movies, software and games. -

This means that your CD/DVD drive no longer works and is not recognized by the system?
If Yes, then I would recommend checking this Toshiba document that I found on the portal of the knowledge base site:

Satellite A100: CD/DVD drive does not appear in the Manager of peripherals and BIOS
The CD/DVD drive does not appear in the window manager and I can't incert CD
The BIOS displays "none" instead of "optical device".This means that the CD device is dead?
Hey Micky,
Unfortunately it's probably :-(. You can try to remove the optical drive and then reinsert it into Notepad, and then marketing and see if it is recognized as a new device.
Check also that it is not displayed in Device Manager and if it is remove before trying the above.
Kind regards

CD/DVD drive does not read discs on Equium A100
My cd/dvd drive does not read any discs be it, white, written or commercially written. It opens and closes and is light to show that he is working on. Device Manager indicates that the device is functioning properly.
Tried the update of drivers, no update available. Tried restoring the system back 1 day and 1 week and 1 month, then and still the problem cannot be corrected. When I put a cd/dvd in the drive and try to access it, it says: D:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an i/o device error.
Can someone help me I tried everything my friends and I can think, or is it better to send just to toshiba warranty.
If the solution proposed by James will not help, you should try to remove the drive to CD/DVD in Device Manager.
After phone restart the operating system will recognize and initialize the disk again.
After this review of the procedure if you can read, write the middle. -
