Acquisition of network address and no connection bouncing back and fourth

Hi all! I hope someone can help. I have a laptop and I take courses online in addition to the physical classes during the semester. I have my laptop connected to my network wireless at home. On the desktop, that's where hung the modem and the wireless router. Well as we all know, sometimes the connection bleeps out for a fraction of a second. Well, I can't have that all the time so today I moved the modem and the device wireless for my laptop for a dedicted connection more. No problem.

I bought a BELKIN USB wireless adapter and wouldn't connect. He finds the modem and everything, but it would bounce back and fourth to acquire a network NOT CONNECTED address and then bounce immediately try to find the address. My provider of property intellectual has said that it is because I have a LINKSYS router, so I should have a LINKSYS adapter too. So I did an Exchange and now have the LINKSYS COMPACT WIRELESS G USB ADAPTER. Manufacturer #: WUSB54GC. My ROUTER is a LINKSYS Wireless - g Broadband routher, MODEL WRT54G and I bought the router in August of 2006 and have NO problem!

So my problem... I have the new linksys adapter. Tried to install it on the desktop. WLAN Intel concludes very well, but it bounces back and fourth of the Acquriring network address and NOT CONNECTED every few seconds. I even install on my laptop and it does the same thing! I don't think it's the adapter. What is my router?

If someone could please help! I would really apprecaite it! Thank you!  mmm

Try adjusting the settings of your wireless router to...

Open an Internet Explorer browser on your computer (desktop) wired page. In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press ENTER... Let the empty user name & password use admin lowercase...

Click on the Wireless tab
-Wireless network mode must be mixed...
-Provide a unique name in the name box of the wireless network (SSID) in order to differentiate your network from your network of neighbors...
-Set the channel 11-2 wireless, 462 GHz... Wireless SSID broadcast should be enabled and then click on save settings...
Please take note of the name of the wireless network (SSID) because it's the network identifier...

For wireless security: -.
Click the sub-tab under wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the mode of WEP wireless security, encryption must be 64-bit. Let the empty password, do not type in anything... Under type of WEP Key 1 in all 10 numbers please (numbers only and no mailbox for example: your 10-digit phone number) and click on save settings...
Please note the 1 WEP key as it comes to the security key for the wireless network...

Click the settings advanced wireless
Change the interval of tag to 75 > change the Fragmentation threshold to 2304, change the RTS threshold to 2304 > click 'save settings '...

Now let's see if you can locate your wireless network and try to connect...

I found the problem (s), even if I am always left with a few questions.

During this process, I have disabled the firewall, but that did not help. However, I noticed 'tweaks' accessed via the tab 'Advanced' in 'Microsoft Firewall' which looked like, they must be checked in order to access the internet. I checked these and reintroduced the firewall. After I got things working, I unchecked them and things still worked so I obviously don't understand what these parameters.

    The solution:

    (1) I have to go straight from the modem cable to the computer. I can't have a cable modem, router wireless, computer, even if using hard wire, and even if this same configuration works with another computer. Also, I can't use a cable length to go from modem to the computer. So, it seems to have had a problem of cable length. Power problem? Only connected to this computer devices are the mouse, the keyboard and the Ethernet. Would not this be fixed with an upgrade of the power supply? Or is it due to the quality of the Ethernet hardware on the motherboard? It's a Dell Vostro 200.

    (2) in back and forth between configurations while following the problem, you must think to unplug the modem to reset between each configuration. You may have stumbled upon the solution, otherwise he's not shot. Also, I unplugged the cable from the modem when you reset data cable - do not know if it was necessary. I wanted to limit the degrees of freedom that I had a lot, as it was.

  • HELP linksys wireless USB adapter: (model # WUSB54GC) "acquiring network address" not actually connect to the internet! ?? Windows xp pro

Hello. Ive been at this for 4 days now, I can't find a solution. I'll try to remember as much as possible regarding what ive tried.

    here goes...

long story short, due to unfortunate system errors, I have reinstalled my OS XP home to xp pro. PC works great now! problem is... now my wireless adapter wont connect to the internet.

When I had xp home edition installed, I could just plug in the adapter, and a few seconds, it would connect to the favorite network. (with all settings on Auto) no problem.

now that ive put in OS, it's just cycling "absorbing the network address" infinitely...

his watch the access point, the preferred network, showing the signal strength and do not show errors in Device Manager. right-click and choosing fix do not work. It gets stuck @ renewing IP address scene. its not send or receive packets under status.

He EXPECTED to be functional? It uses a 10-digit WEP key.

Ive tried both the linksys wireless monitor and the windows zero configuration utilites.i since removed the lynksys software screen because it never worked anyway. WZC is that used to work on xp family.

I used " ipconfig/all" to determine the values of the network on the host pc. I tried manually punching in those values (IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS settings, according to the suggestion of a networking of friends) on the adapter wireless itself; using tci/ip options. still does not connect.

Ive tried different USB ports, all that seems to do is to change the number of the wireless connection.

It just does not connect to the internet.

I have the driver I need for this after contacting linksys. I also disabled windows firewall and the firewall/antivirus of 3rd party associated with the network.

He knows questions w / windows xp professional and this particular wireless adapter? (WUSB54GC) that's the only reason why I can think of that is not connected.

what I forget? internet hard wiring of an ethernet port is not an option because there is no ethernet card installed in the pc.

any help is greatly appreciated in advance.

    Thank you.

Sorry it took so long for me to return.

It was a setting under working group which had to be adjusted from reinstalling windows. (something that has been disabled I forgot, don't remember what it was since its been like 3 weeks)

that he got the running dhcp... That is to say. allowed 4 dependence to work progrmas, boom, problem solved.

the adapter now works with the automatic settings, using WEP encryption. as it should, and it was.

Thank you very much for the replies, I appreciated the help.

  • ACQUISITION OF NETWORK ADDRESS?

Just bought my daughter a compaq minicq10.  We already have a computer compaq laptop and it connects to the router wireless without any problem.  The mini keeps saying "absorbing the network address" it connects very well using the wire but not wireless. Any ideas please?

The security settings, it is WPA, WPA2, TKIP, WEP?

  • Acquisition of problem of network address

The OS is XP (SP-3). Trying to set up a wireless laptop - it works very well if connected via ethernet. We have another laptop which works without problems and logged before several other laptops without problem - so suspects don't not the router.

-Device Manager show (RT2500 Ralink) wireless adapter to work properly

    -WZC is enabled

-with active DHCP, the message is cycling between "absorbing the network address" and "not connected".

-IPconfig shows the 0.0.0.0 IP address

-Run IPconfig / release and / renew gave the message "no operation can be performed on the connectionwhile wireless there media disconnected." Also ' an error occurred during the renovation - the DHCP client obtained an address that is already in use.

-Enter the IP address manually produces (no active DHCP) a different effect. The message now cycles between 'connected' and not connected ' about every 3 seconds. IPconfig shows now the manually enterd IP address details. I tried several different numbers at the end of the address to ensure no conflict with other addresses.

    -repair of rand without success

    -restarted the router several times

-maximum strength of the wireless signal is available.

-not scanned with malwarebytes and tren micro - no problems.

-There are two installed versions of XP. Original (very slow) and recently reinstalled (works perfectly). The same behavior occurs in both versions of the operating system running.

Now, I can't find any other ideas of previous discussions in MS Answers. Can someone suggest a solution.

    Hello

Don't worry that WARNING connected to the router, in this context the 'server' is your router. Simply enter your username and password and click OK.

If a USB adapter has the same problem it eliminates pilots as something to worry about.

If it works well with the router of your daughter, then he must either be the router settings or router failure.

Do the other troubleshooting and let me know what happens.

Disable the 3rd part software admin wireless and just use Zero Windows wireless. It is easier for me because I have this knowledge. There are too many other utilities of party 3rd to give me specific instructions for them.

  • Unable to connect via radio - impossible to obtain network address

    All,

I had to restore this laptop due to virus problems (my daughter system..).  I have put back it and it works except that I am unable to connect to the wireless network.  It says 'Acquiring Network Address' and goes then to the "Limited or no connectivity."

    Here are the details:

    System:

    Inspiron 1300 - XP Pro SP2

Dell Wireless 1370 WLAN Mini-PCI Card

    Parameters:

o use Windows to configure the verified wireless network

o in Dell Wireless Utility, unchecked "let this tool manage your network."

    o WZC: start & automatic

o TCP/IP: Obtain IP automatically and obtain DNS automatically

    I took action:

o reloaded all drivers available for my service tag, including the pilot for

    the network card

o went through all the Dell relevant troubleshooting steps

o I have a different laptop that connects to the wireless network and I

compared the parameters between the systems of work and non-working - they

seem to be the same (another pc and card)

o the 'bad' system can connect to the network via ethernet cable

The status bar displays the network icon (pc screen) with yellow trinangle and!

and 5 green bars for the network card has an excellent signal with unknown status.

I'm not clear on the question of whether Windows or the utility of the card should be network management; I tried both to no avail.  I'm basically out of options to try and hoping someone can help me.

Please let me know if there are any additional necessary information.

Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Acquiring network address number

One of my users has a HP Pavilion notebook dv6000, XP Media Center Edition, SP3, MS updates to date.   I cleaned the system of viruses, malware, spyware, adware are about 2 weeks and everything worked great - fast and efficient.

    the problem is:
Users used the home laptop to connect to internet through their company of cable using DHCP, and the laptop had been works correctly after I had cleaned up two weeks ago. the user he brought him back to the office and said that it does not connect to the internet.  I plugged the laptop in the network of companies and of course, it does not connect to the network.  After running all software malware/virus/spyware/adware to see if something prevented the connection, and they came up with zippo.
because the laptop is set up for DHCP I thought I'll try static IP and it worked.  I was able to connect to the internet, surfing etc.  I went back to DHCP and still get to acquire network address and does not connect to the internet.

Any ideas as to why it does not connect via DHCP.  All my computers at the office work properly on DHCP.  It's just the laptop which is seen the question... in our office and his home.

    some added info:
I was told that his son installed Skype on the laptop after that I had cleaned the computer a couple of weeks.  It is the only software that has been installed on the laptop on but the laptop was working fine, after that he installed Skype.  Just for ha - ha's, I uninstalled Skype and usefulness of the tool bar to see if the connection to the internet would work with DHCP, but it has no effect.

There is a wireless adapter to the laptop I have turn off and tried to get on the internet using DHCP, no luck.

First of all, make sure that your DHCP Service is running:

    Start-> Run-> "services.msc".

Then, look for the line "DHCP Client" and ensure that its status is "started" and Startup Type is "automatic".  Double-click it to change.

Second, make sure that there is no firewall blocking port 67 or 68 for DHCP.

Thirdly, try to reset your IP stack:

    Hello

Keep the changes and open the wireless. For example, to disable security in the router (turn on when to managed to connect).

You can also try the wireless in a friends house, or an Internet café to get a frame of reference for this behavior elsewhere.

    -------------------

    Wi - Fi in general.

These steps and tell us where is the breaking point.

Check the Device Manager for the wireless card valid entry.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is no valid entry, remove any entry from fake and re - install the drivers for the wireless card.

Check network connections to make sure that you have a network icon/entry wireless connection, and that the properties of the icon (right-click on the icon) are correctly configured with the TCP/IPv4 protocol in the properties of network connections.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

    ------------------

The wireless card drivers much also install utility wireless of the seller.

Make sure that if there are teas from Wireless Utility of seller does not work with the native Windows wireless utility (Service WLAN).

    ----------------

Make sure you firewall No. preventing / blocks wireless components to join the network.

Some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled).

If possible set up the firewall correctly, otherwise totally uninstall and get rid of its remaining processes that permit the own local network traffic flow.

If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

party like Hello and NetMagic 3rd network managers can block local traffic too.

    ---------------------------

Stack TCP/IP work should look like.

Right-click on the wireless network connection card, select status, details and see if she got an IP address and the rest of the settings.

Description is the data of the card making.

The physical address is MAC of the card number.

The xx must be a number between 0 and 255 (all xx even number).

YY should be between 0 and 255

ZZ should be between 0 and 255 (zz all the same number.)

The date of the lease must be valid at the present time.

    * Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx isn't valid functional IP.

    * Note 2. There could be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet or LAN traffic. They are necessary for Win 7 homegroup special configuration.

    ---------------------------------------------------

A message in the small window that says connected wireless doesn't means that you are really a valid functional connection.

Above everything is OK, you must be able to connect to the router.

Connection to the router means that you can enter the IP of the router base in an address bar in one go, being able to connect and configure the router menus see.

If it doesn't connect to the router, journal newspaper from any computer that can connect to the router wirelessly with a wire, disable wireless security, make sure that the wireless SSID broadcast is enabled and try to connect with no. wireless security.

Enable security wireless after you eat to make a functional connection.

Yes, the express can do that... Suddenly lose the configuration and return to the bridge for example even when connected to a modem to bridge.

The solution is simple... Press reset and redo the Express installation.

NOTE... an Express is not expected that the main router... It's light to etc. of airprint, airplay wireless bridge. Don't wait to have no problems when you use the Express to do the work of the extreme or TC or another router should do.
