Why knows what the problem is here.
Try to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool and try again. To be honest, you must disable automatic updates and prior to the update, you should check the list of available updates and install the correct updates that can be useful. That means installation Important or recommended updates. All the optional updates as some driver updates, you must disable.

This would imply that all of the files needed for the installation of SP1 is not downloaded to your computer. You use Windows Update to install SP1? If so, you can try to download the full SP1 Installer and it runs locally instead.

  • Problems with Windows Vista update error code I get is Code: 80096001

    Hi gang,.

I need help I can get at this point. I am currently working on a machine to a customer who had the rootkit zero.access top. The machine works like a champ, now that it is all clean; but for some reason any Windows Vista refuses to update. Let me mention the operating system before proceeding. The operating system is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. When I try to run Windows Update, the machine has a total of seven updates to install; This is especially important and option. In the important section, the machine is trying to install a security update and that is 9. In the optional section, the machine is trying to install the driver as updates: video, network, etc. The PC is already running Service Pack2. The error code I get is: 80096001. I tried every fix that Microsoft recommends, even the Microsoft Fix It tool. Nothing seems to work. I had a simular problem before in Windows XP. If my memory is good, I had to go to the entry in the registry of Windows Update and apply a DWORD here, or something; I don't remember exactly what I did. I can tell you that I checked the registry and there is literally no key to change in Windows Update. Any help or advice would be great, this question is about to drive me crazy.

    Thank you
