Whenever you format the HD you will need to reactivate, unless you restore an image of the active system.
Change most of the equipment does not trigger reactivation, but change the motherboard certainly would.
Only if you change a number of devices about the time came other things would trigger requests for reactivation.

  • Windows Vista starts with a black screen with the mouse cursor

    Hello

    I bought a new Toshiba laptop with OS Windows Vista from Best Buy. At time of purchse that Best Buy does not give me the Vista OS software, they said that the operating system is already installed in the laptop.

    Now, after a year, I have problems with the laptop. The Vista starts with a black screen with a mouse cursor. Before writing this issue, I searched some tips to solve the problem as

    (1) by pressing F8 while the computer is on and select it the option "last good known Configuration (Advanced) option." but it didn't work.

    (2) by pressing F8 when the computer is turned on, then turn on the option 'System repair Option', it did not work.

    (3) by pressing F8 when the computer is turned on, and then select the option "" safe mode / Normal mode option "Unfortunately she also did not work."

    Could you get it someone please let me know how I can solve this problem.

    Thanks in advance

    If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a startup repair, etc.:

    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

    Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
    See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
    Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
    Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Also ask them if it is possible to make the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, when you're up a new drunning.

    They will tell you how to do this.

    Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  • Satellite L30 - 105 - tapping Touchpad Vista start menu comes up

    Someone else had this problem?

    > When I press the touch pad to select something sometimes the Vista start menu comes up

    I think it is nothing unusual, because the area touchpad or corners can be configured to randomly.
    I recommend that you check the touchpad configuration and if you want to disable some annoying features or elements.

    The configuration of the touchpad should be found in the control panel-> mouse-> properties or advanced control.

    Method 1:

    Please check if you face the same problem when recording in safe mode. It is a possibility that one of the non-Microsoft application or driver is causing this issue. Start in safe mode and make sure that us. If you are able to start properly in safe mode, we can perform a clean boot in order to find the root cause.

    Step A.

    I remove the hard drive and attach it to your desktop and use the host operating system to run a check disk on your drive.  The laptop goes hard disk looking for instructions to start and he does not see the correct code.  This is probably due to a damaged boot sector.  Another idea is that your bios has changed and you have changed the SATA from AHCI to IDE type somehow or vice versa. You also left a non bootable disk in the DVD/CD drive.  Remove all disks from your DVD.

  • Vista Start Menu problems

    This is similar to the problems of others on the Vista Start Menu and the taskbar. I looked at the answer, tried to do, but it is already on the "'Start Menu" look, with the "Classic Start Menu" unchecked. "

    He remains in the classic style. Even the scrollbars, windows and Microsoft Paint Program file have a look outdated. In fact, everything, but my Google Chrome browser is outdated, even if the scroll bar is white and square.

    I love my computer and what she looked like before. This has happened after that my laptop has suffered a systematic update. I leave my laptop rest and waited to reconnect. The first I noticed was the Start Menu obsolete, white square and unpleasant. Another thing I noticed, it was a bubble of a word on a system event Notification. I don't know if it plays a role in this dilemma.

    I want just the Start Menu of Vista to look like a Vista Start menu.

    Hi MLD1990,

    Step 1: start by checking the event notification to know what could have happened.

    See the links below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/what-information-appears-in-event-logs-Event-Viewer

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/open-Event-Viewer

    Step 2: this could also be a problem with the themes, you can try to change to a different theme (Vista's Aero theme) and then check out.

    For more information, see the links below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/change-desktop-theme

    Step 3: you can also check the recently installed updates to know what could be the cause.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Problem of Activation of Vista, error msg: you need to activate this version of Windows.

    Original title: Activation of Vista problem...

    I have a version legally obtained from Microsoft Vista that I've been running on my laptop. Recently I had a few problems with the battery and have decided to withdraw from the laptop before complete failure and virtualize on another machine. While I've been running the virtual machine for some time without problem, I recently ran in the form of horse "activate this version of Windows. My attempts to authenticate my version of Vista were not successful and clicking on the 'buy a new online product key' send me a useless part of Windows 8 to the Microsoft site. Interestingly, I was able to authenticate my copy of Microsoft Office on the virtual machine.

    I have IMPOSSIBLE upgrade to Windows 7 or 8, and must be able to continue to run Vista (or XP/ME/98) with some mission critical internal software. I'm happy to buy another license for Vista, however, it seems impossible. Without the ability to replace the laptop battery, upgraded the laptop or upgrade of the software to work with Windows 7/8, I have to find a way to authenticate this license of Vista in the virtual environment.
    Please, Please help. I don't want to have an "unauthorized" copying of Windows on my machine.
    Kind regards
    Matthew.
    P.S. I already have a copy of Windows 7 running and a large part of mission critical functionality is broken under this version of Windows.

    Thanks Noel.

    I did a little more digging into the problem following your advice and that of the original notebook computer manufacturer. It seems that the copy of Vista that I was sold with the laptop is an edition OEM who cannot be virtualized in this way, and therefore the problem with activation.
    So it seems that I have two choices, (1) try and find a replacement laptop that comes with Vista (unlikely) or (2) buy another copy of Vista (full version this time) through Microsoft (if possible).
    The only other option after that must pay my original developers an extreme amount for re - write the software for a Mac/PC/Tablet platform to date. I know that I'll need to do afterwards, because of the nature of something to do with computers (i.e. nothing left hard or constant for decades), but as with any business, I can't keep bleeding of money on perpetual upgrades. This is especially true when the only reason for the upgrade seems to be that the software is ' is no longer supported "rather than because it no longer meets our needs.
    Once again, many Christmas thanks for your help anyway. Do you by chance know if there is a way to buy a new key license through Microsoft?
    Kind regards
    Matthew.

    If you get the message when you open any program or when you start suggests that scan you SFC on the computer that would be a system file corrupt on the computer search and replace.
