Activation of Windows XP Service Pack 3

My three questions are on this topic:
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyId=2fcde6ce-b5fb-4488-8c50-fe22559d164e&displaylang=en

They revolve around a little story:
My disk of Windows XP Professional has been stolen. Now, I am trying to install Windows XP Service Pack 3.

1.) this is a full installation of Windows XP?

2.) is a key product required during installation? If so, do I use my Windows XP Professional Edition product key?

3.) when burning a disc, I just extract the ISO and extract the files in, or do need formatted the drive with a special program?

4.) is what type of Windows XP Service Pack 3 for Windows XP? Professional? Home Edition? It's its own thing?

Thanks in advance!

1 spend it says on the cd before it was stolen?

2. for XP Yes. Unless you he slipstreamed and added that the key then burned the ISO. You can try your XP Pro key, if it does not, it can / or say its invalid

3. No, you don't have to format the cd, before that he would burn. It will focus any program you use. You use something like cdburnerxp . If you get this, click more download options, and then download the default installer without opencandy 32bits version.

ISO is a disk image, for use, there need be burned to a cd or DVD. According to the ISO standard. In the case of XP SP3 (if its ISO format) it is burned to a cd

4 SP3 is for XP Home and Pro. This isn't a version of windows (you can't boot from by itself) it's a service pack, it will update XP

Thus, the link you gave above, even if you have a key, you can't use this ISO to boot from. You still need the XP cd

    Hi Jim,.

    If you already have the Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed, we do not recommend to install SP1a. Instead, I you suggest to download and install the Service Pack 2 (SP2) and then update SP3 to continue to receive.

I have the id... product help, my pc is done to the breakpoint until I make updates! I tried Fix - It, and it says error can not continue... I ran to day thought advise that I could upgrade to windows 7... but apparently so that I can fix the problems of windows, I'm stuck. Thanks for any help!

    Hello

    Error code 80070490 claims a repair upgrade install, not an uninstall and clean reinstall.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-error-80070490

    If you receive the Windows Update 80070490 error, it means that a file (CBS Manifest) that is needed to install updates is corrupt. To correct this problem, you will need repair Windows. Repair Windows will not damage your personal files or the programs that are installed on your computer.

    Have you tried the other option for system update readiness tool in the link I just gave you?

    The System Update Readiness Tool for Windows can correct some conditions that cause Windows Update 80070490 error. You can access and run this tool by reading this Knowledge Base article on the Microsoft Web site.

    And you need a DVD of Vista from Microsoft to do a repair installation upgrade according to the instructions, NOT the normal manufacturer's recovery disks.

    You will need to borrow a Microsoft Vista DVD from a friend or working knowledge.

    Here's how a repair upgrade installation:

    "How to perform a repair for Vista Installation"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-Vista.html

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

    And if you can't get a loan from a Vista DVD from Microsoft, you may need to do a reinstall of Vista:

    You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

    They should do this for a small fee.

    To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

    You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

    How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

    "How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

    And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

    The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

    Ask them to the proper key sequence.

    And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

    Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

    If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

    Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

    If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

    You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

    Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

    And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

    "How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

    And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

    And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1 error! 0xc01a001d!

    I was prompted to install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and now I get an error! 0xc01a001d!  I can't do anything. I turn it on and it crashes. I can't even start screen. What should I do?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 are not
    I have a HP p6680t PC running WIndows 7 Home Preimum 64 bit. Until now Windows 7 Service Pack 1 in windows unlisted in update for me to download.  In this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2498452 , he mentions an Intel Graphics Driver (64-bit), versions 8.15.10.2104 to 8.15.10.2141 Igdkmd64.sys as being a problem when you try to download updated KB2454826.  Check my system, I think my version IS one of those that they stop talking.  The mine is the 8.15.10.2119 version BUT as I said KB2454826 IS in fact installed on my laundry, but also the alsomentioned KB976902 in the article.
    I checked the HP website for my model and it does not appear the driver has been updated, it only shows the original version I have.  On the Intel site that I ran the tool to detect the graphics drivers I had installed and he says that it was made by HP and to communicate with them.  I do not know if this driver is the casue since I have already installed KB2454826.  Can anyone shed some light on this.
    Just a quick update that I could finally try the fix listed in sevenforums, step by step instructions are on the post #33
    http://www.SevenForums.com/Windows-updates-activation/146357-SP1-not-listed-Wu.html
    It worked great and I now have the ability to download SP1, although I hang on a bit for now.
    Hello world
    "I have a ' Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4 - M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB / 768 MB.
    I have installed Windows XP Service pack 2 in my book.
    After the update to Windows XP SP2, the only way to start my computer after putting in "sleep mode" or "hibernation mode" is witch power off and then start up.
    I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver", but nothing came of it.
    What can I do about it?
    Kind regards
    Krasteff
    Obviously the Service Pack 2 does not match current preinstalled saver.
    First installation, you have is to wait for an updated version of Toshiba Power Saver, which is XP Service Pack 2 tested. But so far, you have no "Standby" or "hibernate".
    Installation of the second. If you need to "Standby" or "Hibernate" feature, uninstall Service Pack 2 and wait until there is a solution to the problem of energy saving.
    The two sounds is not perfect, but I think the second installation is the best way. Toshiba will surely bring a new Service Pack 2 tested Power Saver version.
    Good bye
    Hi al1902,
    What operating system do you have Windows installed?
    This sounds like the download is corrupted. I suggest you uninstall the original download and get it again on the site.
    If it's a big file, possibly using a download manager could help.
    Download and install the download at this link Manager: http://store.microsoft.com/Help/Download-Manager
After this date, computers that run Windows XP SP2 will NOT be offered additional security updates critical (x 86), automatic updates do not work, and Windows Update Web site is not accessible until SP3 is installed.
  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1
    Hello I use a Hp Pavalion 64 bit windows 7 computer. I restored my computer back to factory specifications and it seems that I no longer have the service pack installed on it. To confirm this, I have a right-click on computer in the menu start select properties and a top of the window where it is written. Windows Windows Home Premium Edition and the rest of the Windows copy right information. Services pack is is no longer there. I ask if this seems similar to anyone. Can someone also please show me where I can get the service pack and if some slim chance if service pack one is installed on my computer it can damage it if I download it again. Please any advide. Thank you.
    Hello
    Restore your machine back to factory settings will bring down your machine on day 1, at the opening of the box. You must apply all the updates/fixes for Windows. Depending on when you bought your machine, SP1 may not be ready at that time here. Yes, that's the standard. Please use the following instructions to update your computer to SP1.
