  This error message occurs more often because Windows thinks that your product key is already in use or not valid for the media you used. I saw this problem where a person uses a disc at retail to re - install on a machine that came with Windows preinstalled, but still wants to use the original product key, which, in itself, is still perfectly legal.

  The most common method for this problem is to use the option "Microsoft phone" do telephone activation.

  When you call, if offered, select the option to speak to a Microsoft representative, explain your situation and usually they will be able to talk you through the reactivation process. If this option is not available, you can do two things

  1. Try the automated function, in my experience, it works about 50% of the time.
  2. Saying / doing nothing - finally the automated system will pass you through to a real person.

  I do not speak for Microsoft. However, I saw many times when working with clients in your situation with regard to the reactivation of windows because of the failure of a component. They are not, however, responsible for providing you with a windows disc that should be provided by your computer manufacturer. However, if I were you, I would ask to borrow a disc of windows of a friend or a neighbour then contact Microsoft for activation, making sure to explain the circumstances surrounding the re-setup.

  I had to reformat and now I can not get the product key to paste. I went on the microsoft Web site to perform this authentic check and it brought me to a page that says "because you are using a genuine copy of windows: and it prompted me to the basics of secruity DL microsoft.» I read about this, and I don't have the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, more...   the key of product in use is the Lenovo OEM SLP key on the black list. This key has been blacklisted before Windows 7 came out and has never been sold.
