  Recently, I had to have my hard drive replaced due to overheating laptop computer. I lost everything, but the repair has reinstalled windows vista Home premium and the laptop worked ok.   I have something of an enigma of activation: I recently bought a Mac and want to install Windows on a Bootcamp partition on it. The problem is my Vista installation disc is an upgrade - I have the legal right to use as I have been upgraded since Windows 95. Normally I just install XP and then apply the upgrade to Vista on top, but my XP disk is SP1 and Bootcamp requires a SP2 disk...

  Therefore, I am in the position that the only way I can get Windows on my Mac is to do a clean install with Vista, but then I can't be activated because activation agent tells me I don't have a key to upgrade. I. by 'upgrade' could I Bay the constraints of the platform on which I install do the impossible.

  Any thoughts on how to solve this problem would be useful. I don't want to buy a full version of Vista that I bought the right to use the upgrade version.

  Your problemis not as a problem to Microsoft, but a Mac with Bootcamp problerm.

  You can NOT legally do a clean install with an upgrade disc.

  Hello! I need to know if there is a way to activate a copy of Windows 7 Professional of after-market facility. My boyfriend bought a laptop about 8 months ago at a friend. His friend has installed a new operating system before selling. Boyfriend is not very gifted in computer science and has not activated within 30 days of activation-registration/product key, because he never uses the laptop. He has paid the initial Windows 7 Professional OS (about $70, as he recollects), but we can talk to the friend, he bought the laptop from the (contracting companies in the Australian Outback), incommunicado. I am now unable to activate/register the Windows 7 operating system and wonder if it is possible to get the OS enabled without having to buy a new OS. I recently bought and installed 2 licenses for Windows OS 8.1 to 2 separate notebooks for me and my son and I would hope to avoid adding another bill of $120 for a new OS installation.   Strange that Ultimate would come preinstalled as it is normally only Home Premium.

  Try to open an elevated command prompt type slui 4, follow the instructions to make the robocall.  If it fails, stay on the line to talk with activation agent.

  Otherwise, you will need to contact Dell.  They must have sold you a special Ultimate OEM disc at some point?

• Win 7 Pro Activation

  A year ago, the hard drive on my Toshiba c665-s312 crashed. I went to Best Buy and they said it was dead. I had nothing important there, so I decided to just buy a hard drive and do a clean install. I bought a copy of Windows 7 Professional www.techsupplyking.com and installed it, and it worked fine. No problem with the authentic versions. But a month ago, the hard drive, I replaced said that windows would not start. After about a week to go through the Startup Repair tool, I decided to reinstall windows. I did and it is reinstalled, but when I tried to enter the product key, I used previously on the second hard drive, he said that this version of windows is illegitimate and communicate with Microsoft. I have not contacted them and wonder if I can use the same key to product as before. I don't really know what must be attached to this, so I can include anything that will help you.
