  • HP connection manager: Fatal Error, HP Connection Manager Service has stopped responding.

    Hey there,

I have a very big problem with HP Connection Manager 4 on several Windows 7 laptops. The program is installed on about 250 laptop computers and some of them drive me crazy. Everything was fine until some point (I'm not quite sure, that could be after the installation of SP1, Win7), the connection manager has decided to stop working on some machines. Whenever I try to start it, it takes a long time to load until the following message is displayed:

    "HPConnectionManager.exe - fatal error '.

HP Connection Manager service has stopped responding. Quit and restart the application.

A fatal error occurred, check the HP connection manager in the event viewer for more details.

I tried the following on one of these books:

-Start the service manually: "Error 1067: the process terminated unexpectedly."

-Msconfig: Removed any connection associated with Autostart Manager

    -Reinstall the HP connection manager

    -Repair HP Connection Manager

    -Reinstall .NET 3.5

    -Changed some regkeys

-Install Microsoft Hotfix KB2519740 which is part of the system essential updates for Microsoft Windows 7 (that I can't download because there is a server error)

The only thing that really works is to reinstall the laptop with the image with which we install all of them. HP connection manager is installed as a software later so I don't understand why a reinstall is successful.

I'm really tired of this problem, and I have a few unhappy customers on my back, so if you have any suggestions for me, please help.

    Thanks in advance!

  • ACS 5.1 using Active Directory to manage the strategy of network device Admin

Hi guys, we have configured an ACS 5.1 and integrated with active directory Win2K3, we created two AD groups to manage devices network for administrators and one for operators (read-only), so we have configured a device admin strategy and the two groups work very well, but now we are facing a little problem any user that exists in the AD can connect (user exec mode) network devices and we want to cancel the connection with politics, but we do not know how.

Is there a way to get a user authenticated against acs internal or external group, but at the user level, everything as you can make it to GBA 4.X?

    Thanks for your help!

    Best regards

    Oscar

Yes, you can change that, it's a profile of shell by default. You must create a new one with privilege level "not in use" and select the new profile of the shell (no Directors or Operartors) under Default Device Admin > authorization profile > edit and make changes.

    I hope this helps.

  • Server Active Directory 2003. BIOS has caused the time change in members AD. Synchronize all closed and locked to certain services.

A MS tech got sent here, but not sure that this is the right place to ask.

So a client a little slow down in 2003. Yes, I know they no longer have the PDC and BDC, but I will use these terms to make it easier to explain.

PDC still in place. Most work after changing the time of return. I would just deal with the BDC as an orphaned domain controller and remove it manually.

If I do this, it will bring the PDC back online as a working domain controller. I'm not going to add back the BDC. PDC holds all the rolls. When I run the command repadmin /showrepl, I get the message that too much time difference between servers, so that replication has been stopped. I also noticed that anonymous log and other things have been disabled. I've seen a lot of docs on how to force replication, but I'd rather just remove the replication partner.

Again, someone knows if this will allow the RPC server and other accounts that have been closed to limit the damage. Do you need the RPC server to clean up metadata when you remove a server manually with ntdsutil?

Thank you, any information that would be useful is appreciated. Lyle

  • Snapshots kept long enough for when the Active Directory computer account password has expired - this has been noticed after the restoration of a completed snapshop.  No matter what other configurations out there to address this nuisance?

I'm curious to know if anyone has implemented a solution to this problem?

In the AD, a computer account renews his password every 30 days so I think depending on when a snapshot is restored, it may be at a point where the computer account in AD password isn't at the height and which adds a task for the Admin network to readd the computer to the domain.

So, the longest that a snapshot will remain without any problems is 30 days and the shortest is 1 day.  It depends on the last time the automatic password renewed computer and when the snapshot was taken.

    It's a bit of a pain.

I'm curious if this is pretty typical and everyone just accepts this manual process?

Or if some have implemented a solution to work around this problem?

    Thank you!

There are a few articles Technet (see examples below) that provide information on how to change this behavior. However, keep in mind that it is one updated security related, so consider carefully if we need to change this option in a production environment!

Thanks in advance for any help.

LDAP user Root by default is to have all the privilege of access to all Ldap data.

Go to the physical architecture and insert a new dataserver

User - cn = root, dc = css, dc = hyperion, dc = com [change this according to your requirememnt for you it will be * cn = Administrator, dc = oracle, dc = com *]

    password - null

    JDBC

    driver JDBC: com.sunopsis.ldap.jdbc.driver.SnpsLdapDriver

    JDBC URL: jdbc:snps:ldap? ldap_url = ldap: / /.

    [for you it will be * jdbc:snps:ldap? ldap_url = ldap://ten.mydomain.com:636 / & ldap_password =ldap_basedn = dc = oracle, dc = com *]

Here the default Ldap for the ROOT password is SECURITY and if it has changed or that you use for another user. Please use it.

you will also need to encode the password by using this command

    Java - cp C:\OraHome_1\oracledi\drivers\snpsldapo.jar com.sunopsis.ldap.jdbc.driver.SnpsLdapEncoder

Thereafter test connection and you should be able to connect successfully.

  • Adobe Reader and the rights management?

We turned on Azure Rights Management IRM on our team Sites SharePoint libraries of documents on Office 365. Adobe Reader supports PDF files protected by IRM Azure Rights Management? From the looks of it, it seems not that it does (see: PDF compatible with SharePoint readers that support Microsoft Information Rights Management services).

This isn't an official led to Adobe Technical Support. We are other users. But I think that if Adobe Reader has supported it, Microsoft would let you know. Probably, they use methods of exclusive protection. However, you can request so that it can be supported here:

  • Best practices for active directory / dns / hostname configuration

    Scenario:

DNS servers are not integrated with active directory and all hosts of VMS esx virtual environment have host names on the dns comain called inside.contoso.com - such as an esx server called "esx1.inside.contoso.com" and a virtual machine called "linuxvm1.inside.contoso.com".

We have set up a domain active directory to manage authentication for the vcenter server.  This domain active directory must be a subdomain of the existing - such as dns domain

    'addomain.inside.contoso.com '.

What is recommended in this scenario?

In addition, the vcenter server should be designated as a member of the domain such as "vcenter1.addomain.inside.contoso.com".

or should it be named 'vcenter1.inside.contoso.com '.

We have currently a scerario, where domain active directory is not a subdomain - i.e. the AD domain is nwtraders.local and dns domain is "inside.contoso.com" when the vcenter server is added to the ad domain, its host name is "vcenter1.nwtraders.local".   When vmware customers to computers outside the domain of advertising then connect to this server vcenter, problems result from this AD/DNS/hostname design and some features of the vmware client do not work correctly as a result, unless the client vmware runs on a computer joined to the domain, nwtraders.local, which is not possible for all computers.

Any comments or thoughts appreciated - thank you

You have an AD domain that is used for your server vcenter only - which is pretty safe. Ms. do guides on building server roles such as domain controllers - you may wish to consider looking at these.

Regarding the DNS to use - there is no right or wrong answer, this is which option is the best solution for your organization, given the technical, commercial, geographical or political demands.

  • What is Information Rights Management?

I am trying to download a document from my employer and says I need information rights Manager.  What is this and how can I download it?

Information Rights Manager is part of Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 (and, presumably, later versions of Microsoft Office as well).  See:
Information Rights Management (IRM) in Microsoft Office 2003
Information Rights Management (IRM) in Microsoft Office 2007

You have Microsoft Office installed?  If so, which version?

Although you can download the Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) Service Pack 1 client (mentioned in the articles above) here--> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=438, you will probably need to contact your employer of departmental it in order to get the details of how to connect to the license server appropriate to verify your credentials and to download a use license.

For more details, to again ask the appropriate Microsoft Office forum.

  • ACS 5.3 - Active Directory - limiter/DCs use to auth

    Hi all

I have a Cisco ACS server deployed for GANYMEDE and RADIUS authentication for end-users.

Everything works fine, it is joined to the domain, most of the time people can auth. However, it seems that the ACS is trying to auth against * ANY * DC in my field.

DNS.findsrv FindSrvFromDns runs and draws from each domain controller to use. Not all of them are accessible or not fo all of them have the same structure of the user.

Is there a way to specify or limit/control which domain controllers are queried?

    Hello

Unfortunately at this point there is no way to control which DC should be questioned by the AEC. The ACS will retrieve all the available DC on your AD domain name and contact one of them.

An enhancement request is already listed and developers are working to include the feature on future versions. Here is the information:

    http://Tools.Cisco.com/support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCte92062

ACS should be able to query only the desired domain controllers

    Symptom:
Currently in 5.0 and 5.1, the ACS queries the DNS with the field, in order to get a list of all the domain controllers in the domain and then try to communicate with each other. If the connection to even one domain controller fails, the connection of the CSA to the field is declared as failed. Many clients ask about this behavior change.
It should be possible to define which domain controllers to contact and/or make GBA to interpret the DNS resource records registered by the domain controller Active Directory to facilitate the location of domain controllers.  Active Directory uses the service locator, or SRV, records. A SRV record is a new record described in RFC 2782 DNS type and is used to identify the services located on a network of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Conditionsof :
Domain with multiple domain controllers were some are not accessible from the security constraints given ACS / geographical. Workaround:
Make sure that all domain controllers are upward and accessible of the ACS.

    Hope that clarifies it.

    Kind regards.

  • How is form of Active Directory - supposed to work

I have configured the Active Directory User Management connector and it seems to work very well.  I have a question about pre fill for the shape and the way it is supposed to work.

So when I add the AD application to a cart for a user and proceed to the checkout, the form is empty.  If I submit the form, I see that data get populated in some areas namely, first, last, organization...  My question is, which is how it is supposed to work?  Usually blank form or can do us so that when you go to the cashier, you see the pre-filled fields?

    Thank you!

Form that is displayed after the opting out is "Instance of form." To fill the values on this form, that you must write prepopulate the plugins.
