AD migrate to new hardware?

Hi, I do a search in AD in Windows 2008 std x 86 migration to new hardware that will run Windows 2008 R2 std x 64. In order to concentrate my research in the right way can you tell me if I have to use ADMT or should I focus my research on something else? The new server and AD names will be different.  Thank you.

  • Migrate to new hardware of 5.1 to 6.0

    Hi all

I foresee a great migration in our VMware environment. I want to spend all the virtual machines in an environment 5.1 to 6.0 with new hardware environment.

Details: existing environment: two hosts with ESXi 5.1, an iSCSI SAN, and a 5.1 on 2003 VM Server vCenter. New environment: two with 6 ESXi hosts and a new iSCSI SAN.

I found this interesting thread: migration to the blow by blow of 5.5 to 6.0 by using new materials and fresh install. and from there, I thought the following might work:

    1. Create a new vCenter on one of the new hosts using Windows Server R2 2012
Now, I should have a new vCenter to manage a single host.
    2. Remove a former host of the former vCenter and add it to the new vCenter.
      1. Move all the VMs from the old host to the new host and remove the old host after moving virtual machines.
      2. Repeat for the second former host.
    3. Add the new second host to vCenter.
Now, I should have a new vCenter 6 with two ESXi 6 hosts running all my virtual machines, right?

Question: What is the best way to move files VM from the old to the new San SAN?

I think I have two possibilitys (correct me if I'm wrong):

    1. Use vStorage Motion to move VMs old host and storage for two new
Question: should the new host access iSCSI also the old SAN or simply for the new San?
    2. Browser data store allows to move the files to the new data store
Question: should the new host access iSCSI also the old SAN or simply for the new San?

Which would be best? My virtual machines have an average size of 50 GB except a few Windows VMs with about 100 GB and my file with 1.2 to server.

If you have any other ideas, I'm open to any suggestion.

    Concerning

    Chris

Same storage must be accessible on both hosts make VM vMotion and once that virtual computers running on new host, storage vMotion to migrate virtual machines from old to new DS DS.

You can also try VM host and storage migration toghter using the web client to move virtual machines from the old host and DS, but especially first option is preferable.

  • Migration to new hardware for Windows 7 professional issues

I would like to copy a copy OEM licensed Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on a new computer.  I understand that the OEM license is linked to the original machine.  I want to just clone the old machine to a new machine - who has updated the hardware - and then ask the license OEM Windows 7 Pro 64 bits provided with the new machine to the cloned OS.  Simple operation - licences should be covered, and then I don't have to reinstall and reconfigure all my apps.

It is, gets Windows a BSOD, probably because the drivers installed are not compatible, starting with the motherboard chipset and video card, etc.  I need Windows for a new analysis of material to get new material.  I tried to use devcon rescan from the cmd line, but it comes back very quickly and does not seem to make any changes to the drivers installed.

    Any help appreciated.

  • VCenter simple Migration to new hardware

have a Setup simple vCenter.  A vCenter server with 3 being the hosts managed and about 15-20 ESX servers.  He is currently a virtual machine host as we had no spare parts at the time.

We do not use the advanced features yet (vMotion, etc.).  Basic host maintenance.  We have new equipment and Win2008/64-bit is installed.

What moved the easiest way to get the old stuff?  Or I have to actually migrate?  Can I simply unattach the 3 former ESX servers and add it again?  Old server vCenter will be deactivated once all moved or added to the new server.

    Thank you

    Hello

You need basically install new vcenter and remove all hosts to vcenter (unplug and remove). To add vcenter again.

  • How to migrate to new hardware Apple Watch

Probably tomorrow, I will receive my new Apple Watch series 2.

HE writes off my Apple Watch of 2015.

Is there anything special to consider when you install the new Apple Watch?

I want to keep all the activity data and the rewards I have earned my original watch.

I could assume that the process is straughtforward: just match the new AW with my iPhone and désapparier the old shows to-be-removed. Right?

    Popular best practices.

    Hello

Cancel the twinning of your watch to your iPhone using the app shows, including enter your Apple ID password if you are prompted to remove the lock of Activation of the Watch:

You can then restore your new watch from the old backup that is made automatically during the pairing process:

All historical activity data (there included achievements earned) to the point where désapparier you your old watch is stored on your iPhone, not on the watch, then he will be retained.

  • Migration to new storage ASM

Oracle 11G R2 RAC with ASM on Solaris 10

Just do my due diligence to prepare material migration of storage of StorageTek (RAID 5) for NetApp (RAID 6) with more space

Anyone has any experience of migration to new hardware for storage with different RAID types when you use ASM? I guess there is no problem of hardware compatibility. Is it possible to connect the new storage to the servers and create new ASM disks groups, move data to the new disk groups files and then remove the old storage? Or should I take a RMAN backup and then restore it on the new storage?

Yes, but remember that you don't want to leave all as unpaired LUN in the same diskgroup permanently, as ASM blindly assumes that all LUNS have the same capabilities and balances Allocation units (AUs) is based on this assumption.

If you break rebalance ASM, add a lot of new LUNS in an existing diskgroup and mark all old LUNS to fall once evacuated, then resume the rebalancing, the end result will be all new LUNS that are all also hitched. Just by adding a few new LUNS leaving some old would produce suboptimal performance.

If you go to the approach of separate ASM diskgroup, you have the luxury to migrate your files (if desired) iteratively given ASM manages two independent disk groups.

Don't forget to assign points if you find my answers to be useful and accurate.

  • Migration of virtual machines in ESXi 4.1 to 5.5 to new hardware

I'm new to VMware and our company bought 4 new servers and a SAN to replace our old VSphere 4.1 installation of 12 year.  The old configuration consisting of a server VCenter 4.1 physics 2003, 2 Dell 2900 ESXi hosts and 1 MD300i SAN.  Gen9 again the Installer 4 HP DL360 (3 host 1 VCenterServer) and MSA 2040.  Can someone please explain to me what would be the best way to go about moving more of our VM current for the new hardware? I found this from a previous post here, but it does not move the virtual machine to a SAN to another.

Migration of the VMs of ESXi 4.x to 5.5

"If I understand your question, continue to build the new environment of 5.5 with your 3 hosts from scratch 'ignoring' your old hosts. Once your new environment up & running, connect 4.1 guests to your new server vCenter Server and vMotion to move virtual machines while they run to the new cluster (live migration without interruption).

VMTools upgrades do not have place automatically during migration.

Once your virtual machines on new hosts, update tools as usual and you can then also upgrade virtual hardware of your virtual machines.

Virtual HW update is optional, though; If you do not have the VMs that need the new features you can skip this last step and keep them as they are. »

    TYIA.

The previous answer is pretty good, but I would like to add a few elements.

You can 'disconnect' your 4.1 hosts of your old vcenter with running virtual machines, and then when you connect the hosts in your environment of 5.5 it will import your VM running as well.  As long as you have properly configured virtual networks you can live migrate vmfs old host and the old store of data simultaneously via the web client as long as your esx license allows it.  Otherwise close your virtual machines down to 1 at a time to migrate them above.

Alternatively, you can consider running your vcenter as a virtual machine within the cluster it manages.  This gives you some DRS and HA for vcenter, plus a 4th host for virtual machines.

If you don't have additional license you can also install your new hosts of 5.5 and run for 60 days before that you upgrade your 4.1 licenses to apply to your new host.

  • migrate the production esx 4.0 to 5 new hardware esxi environment

I intend to migrate my production esx4.0 vSphere esxi 5 environment (new hardware) environment. How can I migrate my vms to production that are hosted on esx 4.0 (3 hosts managed by vcenter) to new material, that is to say 3 new hosts running esxi5? I want to leave my production environment intact in case I need to back off because of problems if it is possible? I am aware that:

    «My upgrade VMFS-5 doesn't have a block size of 1 MB.» Why?

Upgrade of VMFS-5 partitions retain the characteristics of the partition of the data store VMFS-3 original, including the block size of the file, size of 64 K subblock, etc.. To take full advantage of all the benefits of VMFS-5, migrate virtual machines to a different data store (s), delete the existing one and re data store - create using VMFS-5".
so ideally, I want to create a new data store instead of to upgrade and move my VM prod on this.

What are the options that are available to me? Thank you.

I wonder if it would make a big difference to save storage space?

30 years ago I probably would have said it makes a difference, but today, it is probably more expensive (i.e. is not worth spending time) to create a new data store and migrate everything to a few KB.

  • W2K8 R2 Licensing Issue: passes during the migration of parallel hardware

We have a very old application server run on W2K8 R2 stand-alone (no advertising).  We decide to migrate the server to new hardware.

Freshly install us the operating system, create user accounts, and install the application on the new hardware.  To play safe, we intend to have a parallel run for 3-4 weeks.

If the Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed with Acer, the answer is no, you cannot transfer it.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

  • ESXi 5.1 cluster moving to new hardware

I have a 5.1 ESXi cluster consisting of 2 servers of Sun I want to retire - Sun #2 is the best of the 2 servers.   I all 2 new Dell R620 stretched upward, wired and pre-loaded with 5.1 U1.  My license is for 4 and vCenter is a virtual machine in the cluster, I want all moved to new hardware with little or no interruption of service.

This would be the way to go?

    1. set up Dell and storage server configuration networking properly (I am comfortable with this part).

2 migrate all virtual machines to Sun 2.

    3. close the Sun 1 and remove the cluster

    4. Add 1 Dell to the cluster

5 move the VM to Dell 1

    6. switch off the Sun Deceiver 2 and remove the cluster

    7. Add 2 Dell and move virtual machines as you wish.

Sun servers were not identical, then the VCA mode is Intel "Penryn".    The specs say that future Intel processors can join to this group, so it is not a problem running 1 Dell and 1 Sun temporarily, correct?  The r.620 are the same, so as soon as they are both in the cluster can / disable CVS mode?    I have to restart each VM later so he would see the new processor features, correct?

Is this what I need to look at.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

You can do a lot of ways, but I would recommend not to remove the beam #1 sunlight until you are 100% made to the migration. Which leaves you exposed from the point of view HA (assuming that it is production, since you want little downtime), and is an unnecessary step. RELATIVE to the issuance of licenses, since this is a migration of right, keep the r.620 in eval mode and change the licensing of more later. Which allows to rotate the environment MUCH easier.

Here's what I'd do (emulation of your list)

    (1) Networking Setup / storage on r.620, to be compatible with the old SUN servers.

    (2) to present the cluster r.620

    (3) to migrate a low priority / test VM networking, testing vMotion and new hosts.

    (4) to migrate most of the virtual machine the new hosts.

    (5) migrate vCenter last VM (just to be safe)

    (6) put SUN 1 and 2 in maintenance mode. Leave them in the cluster for a few days just in case

    (7) remove SUN 1/2 cluster once everything works well, remove the former hosts of vCenter and closed. Clean a network configuration and storage, respectively (be careful here).

    (8) stimulus EVC Mode at the highest level appropriate (Sandy Bridge, I guess).

    (9) it is important, read closely. If you want to increase the level of CEV, after former guests are completely gone and dead, completely off each VM, a power back on. This will raise the functional level of CVS to the new level. Simply restart the guest OS won't do it. You can check by going to display hosts and clusters > VMS > add column EVC.

  • Displacement of vCenter Server to new hardware and start from scratch

    Hi all

I want to configure a new server vCenter Server on new hardware and start from scratch instead of migrating from the old installation.

Threre are currently only 5 ESXi hosts connected to this server vCenter Server, so it would not so much be working to the reconfiguration of the new facility.

I wonder if there are other things that I have to take care of? How about iSCSI, network settings and so on?

    Thanks in advance,

    Andreas

It is no big problem with a new server vCenter Server. Just follow the step to a new clean install.

Existing hosts will be simple automatically deleted when you add to the existing VC they to the new cluster.

Please keep in mind that the DNS entry are correct.

If you have a HA, so I suggest to disable in the old cluster (it will be configured in a way to the new).

If you have CVS you add hosts when are in maintenance mode.

Any thoughts on one of these is welcome

    Hello

Tecra 9000 was equipped with optional WLan and module BT.
This means that not all units supports the feature WLan and BT.

Anyway, if you found the WLan and BT label background o of the device you T9000 should support these two features.

First of all, you must make sure that the WiFi network has been successfully activated. The material on the side of notebooks switch must be activated. The FN + F8 key combination switches between the BT and WLan. So if you want to use the WLan you have to use the FN + F8 key

I put t know why the keys FN don t work on your T9000. Maybe some tools and drivers are missing. So, try to reinstall the drivers from the Toshiba page. You should find it in the ARCHIVES.

I think the unknown device could designate the BT module and the driver missing BT.

  • Cannot install new hardware (wireless mouse, ipod) on my Equium M50

    Hello

I'm a newbie here, I m having problems with my Equium M50-192 don't know when the problem started, but I can not install new hardware have tried to install a wireless mouse and a new ipod, but it will not install the drivers for the latter.

    Any help will be appreciated.

I don't really know what the problem is here, but it will be interesting to know what exactly happens when you connect a wireless mouse. Is there a HARD drive activity or even error message?

Can you please check the Device Manager and hardware all listed there? Is this all is well?
