  So, I spent several hours working on this problem and nothing seems to help.

  I have Windows Vista Ultimate SP1.  When I try to add a printer, properties of control server or anything else related to printing, I just got the error "windows cannot add a printer [or" server properties cannot be read "" "]." The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. »

  When I restart the spooler via administrative tools/services, or from the command prompt (it's supposed to be successful) attempt to add a printer again, I get the error message 'the operation cannot be completed (error 0x000006be)' and the spooler promptly crashes again.  This just started to happen suddenly, and no not because I tried to install some any printer.  If it helps, I've been using a Dell Photo Printer 720, but I used it in the past with the same system, OS and driver without problem.

  I searched for solutions in the world and so far have removed all traces of the system printer drivers in the case of a corrupted file crashes the spooler.

  So far, I have:
  1 deleted all of the printers that could be uninstalled from Add / Remove programs

  2 cleared out the Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 and Windows\system32\spool\printers\ folders

  3. suppression of the subkeys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows NT x86\Drivers and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Printers registry keys

  4 deleted default subkeys in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors registry key

  Is there something else I could do to fix this?  Is it possible that the spooler application itself has a problem?  Or have I missed something it's ruin?  Any help would be REALLY appreciated!

  Try this:

  1. click on Start> select Control Panel> in programs and features> select turn Windows features On or Off.

  2. click on sign + Print Services.

  3. Select LPD and LPR. You must remove the Internet printing Client. Restart your PC to ensure there is no error in the spooler service.

  4. try to reinstall your printer software/driver.

  I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall printer driver software in your computer from devices and printers and programs and features.

  I tried the PCL5 and PCL6 drivers.

  Printing from other software works (e.g. Acrobat Reader) very well.
  Print to other printers (e.g. OfficeJet K7100) works very well.

  It turns out that when I first tried the PCL5 driver it actually updates itself to PCL6.

  So I got my LaserJet m1536 work with AutoCAD 2012LT (64-bit) and PCL5 as follows:

  (1) Add/Remove programs-> remove the HP Laserjet 1530 series
  (2) download drivers PCL5 -> unpack and install-> choose "dynamically select printer"-> finish
  (3) print a page and failed of selection screen printer "to add this printer to my devices.
  (4) install the CD printing software
  (5) printer PCL6 to remove your devices

  At this point, I had work printer and scanner as well!

  I recently had a problem where printing of pdf documents is out as unreadable solid ink lines. I have it narrowed down to only occurs with specific policies and only a reader of pdf special and only on my hp printer.   Hello. I have a HP LaserJet P1006 and I am 10.9.1 running on my imac.

  I have used this printer for years on this computer, even after the upgrade to Maverick. The other day, I removed the printer to try to resolve a different question, and now I am unable to add the printer to the computer. I get the attached error.

  During this time, I was able to add the printer to my MacbookPro running the same system perfectly. Any ideas?

  The first step I would suggest, is to reset the Mac printing system. I've included the document "reset printing system". This document, Please follow the steps two and three only. After that please close the windows.

  Next step will be to complete check and repair disk permissions. I've included the document '12.x disk utility: repair disk permissions'. Once completed repair disk permissions, restart your Mac.

  Once completed, restart try adding the Laserjet P1006 in the print queue.

  You are able to add printed back, or you still get the same error message?

  I recommend to install the drivers of comprehensive features, either from the CD or a download, on all computers that you want to use the Laserjet Pro 400 with.  This will ensure that all the features with each PC you want to have connected with the printer.

  I assume that you have a wireless printer. If so, the software is different from each manufacturer, but it is similar to this. Before starting the installation, make sure that you have a USB cable at your fingertips and you know your network name (SSID) and wireless key.
