Adding an additional hard drive

Have an emachine with windows vista upgrade, I put an extra GI on my PC to make 1.5 G. I want to add an additional hard drive. I now have a120GB hard drive. I have an another emachine with a 160 GB hard drive, but my problem is the 120 GB is 32 bit and the 160 GB is 64-bit. My question is that I can use the disk 160GB of hard drive without any problem, most 120 GB hard drive?

The drive works perfectly.  Any hard drive can operate in 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Boulder computer Maven

  • Adding an additional HARD drive to Dell Dimension 4600

HARD drive how much can this system take, I ask because I want to add an additional hunting with taken all readers currently in PC (2). Any help would be appreciated. Regards.Johno65

    Hi John,.

    Thank you for your response.

Dimension 4600 system board connectors are as follows:

    • Connector 40 pin primary IDE channel
    • Connector 40 pin IDE secondary channel
    • Floppy drive 34 pin
    • 7-pin Serial ATA connector (2)

The Dimension 4600 supports up to 4 ATA/100 devices on 2 IDE channels. However, it has flanges/casing for two drives internally accessible only. If you do not connect a third drive internally, there is no place to fix in the system chassis (such as the hard drive bays can contain only 2 hard drives) so it could be hung out of the system. Alternatively, you can connect external USB hard drives as needed on the system.

Answer please if you have other queries.

    Thank you and best regards.

Can I add an extra terabyte as a slave to this PC?

Thanks in advance for any help

Your desktop HP p2-1334 has only two SATA ports and no physical space in the case of 2nd hard drive. Short answer is a resounding no you can, however, replace the current 500 GB drive with a greater capacity. 1 TB to 2 TB

  • How can I run two disk hard of (adding a 2nd hard drive) on the flag a1020n?

How to do two hard drives on the a1020n Pavilion, after adding a new hard drive for my existing CPU?  My old hard drive is out, so I will install a new hard drive, redefinition of the new hard drive, but I still want to have access to the old disk until I have transferred all my personal files to the new drive.  I saw answers to self-help.

Yes. I often throw in additional disks other PC as a second drive... just give Windows a minute or two to find and configure the drives after their installation. You can use the Explorer to browse the file structure.

  • Additional hard drive

I've added a 2nd hard drive for my wife P6310T today and it is not recognized, when you go to my computer, it appears correctly in the Manager of devices and also when you do the PF10 in setup, said the right information just like the main drive. How can I get it works please? Thank you

    Hello

You may need to format the new HARD drive - try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In the run box, type compmgmt.msc , and then press ENTER.  Click disk management in the left pane and let readers load upward.  Right-click on your new HARD drive and select Format to start the wizard.  Windows 7 will affect a Volume label, so if you're happy with it, just leave the default.  File system is NTFS.  Allocation unit size must be left by default.  Select the option to perform a quick format if it is not already done.  Leave all the other default settings, and then click Ok, and then Ok to start the process.

Once this done, your new HARD disk should now appear when you look under the computer.

    Kind regards

  • Adding a new hard drive for HP Pavilion 15-E016TX

I own a HP Pavilion laptop 15-E016TX... n I was wondering if I could add an additional hard drive...?

it dosent matter if its ssd or the regular disk... I neeed jst little more space

    Here is the Service Manual:

    Manual

There is no space for a second hard drive somehow "ordinary". There no second SATA slot as in the Pavilion 17 inch models or for a smaller drive of WSSD mSATA as in the Envy series. The only way to do it is to remove the optical drive (DVD burner) and install a second drive in an optical drive adapter device. Your laptop uses the slim type optical drive (9.5 mm) and this device would not work.

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

See Page 47 of the manual for instructions to remove the existing DVD player. It is very easy. You can exchange your façade above so that no one could say that the laptop has been changed. I almost never use my DVD burner on my laptop, anyway. But I also never fill my hard drive. You have it fills a terrabyte? You cannot unload some of them to an external drive or the cloud?

If you do, just put a hard drive into the adapter and plug it in. The seller, jacobsparts, also sells portable hard drives and would be happy, I don't know to send you both in a single shipment. Disclosure full jacobsparts is in my hometown and I bought some stuff from them years but have no interest in the company. They are good people, I can testify.

  • Can I add an additional hard drive storage?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

A 40 GB hard drive, I installed in my computer and I would like to know what would be the best practice to install an additional hard drive?

    Basically, you have two choices:

    1. install a second hard drive (only possible if your computer has physical space for this)

    2. replace your 40 GB with a bigger drive.

If you add or replace, there are two important factors you need to consider size and interface type.  Most laptops use 2.5-inch disks.  Most of office/towers use 3.5-inch disks.  There are several different hard drive interfaces, and you get a drive that has the same interface as your computer.

Most older computers use the Parallel ATA interface (PATA or sometimes simply ATA).  These discs are also called IDE disks.  There are several variations, but those generally available today is the Ultra ATA66 IDE / ATA - 5, Ultra ATA100 IDE / ATA - 6 and the Ultra ATA133 IDE / ATA-7.  The numbers refer to the data transfer rate.  No matter the data transfer capacity of the disc, however, your actual data transfer rates will be limited by your motherboard.  Finally, you'll notice an RPM rating and a size of "cache".  For the performance, in general, the higher these numbers the better the performance.

Number of computers more recent uses the interface Serial ATA (SATA).  There are three versions of the present.  SATA-1 (1.5 Gbps), SATA-2 (3 Gbps) and SATA-3 (6 Gbps).  However, given that you currently have a 40 GB drive, it is strong enough to bet that you have NOT of SATA.

Another interface is SCSI.  You have probably not SCSI.

The starting point is by identifying the brand and model of your computer.  If you have a desktop/Tower computer, you can buy almost any hard drive, that you like; laptops can be a bit more picky.  A good resource for readers (once you know what you want) is newegg.com  Drive Solutions offer one advice that should tell you what players are compatible with your computer.

If you choose to replace rather than add them, you will need to 'clone' of your existing to the new drive.  To do this, you will need appropriate software.  Sometimes, the software basic disk of cloning comes with the disk (remember to read the product description or email/call the seller before you buy).  Sometimes, it is available as a free download from the manufacturer of the drive (for example, if you buy a Western Digital drive, WD has "Acronis True Image WD Edition Software").  Or you can get your own copy of various applications of cloning, some are free, but more for sale.

If you replace a laptop (or a drive in a desktop/tower with no computer available drive Bay), you can buy an external hard drive enclosure.  There are a variety of them.  Just be sure to get one with the internal interface correctly to match the drive and an external interface that is compatible with your computer (usually, USB 2.0).  External hard disk enclosure are sometimes comes with disk cloning software.  And, once your new drive is in place and functioning satisfactorily, you can put the old drive in the box and erase (format) it and use it as a backup drive.

Above sounds a lot more complicated than it is.  You will probably find even the process YouTube videos, if you look at.

  • Adding a new hard drive on e9180t

Hi, I have e9180t and I'm considering adding a new hard drive.

Can my office manage 3 to/6.0 GB/s 64 MB Cache SATA internal hard drive?  I get my full performance out of it?

I read the possible combinations (http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01817977 specification page

Is there a limit to the capacity of the hard drive?  (up to 2 TB)?

    Can handle a 6.0 GB/s transfer rate?

I currently have 2 hard drives in the following:

    1 TB - Barracuda (st31000528as) 7200 RPM 32 MB SATA 3.0 GB / s
    500 GB - Maxtor DiamondMax 21 (STM3500630AS) 7200 RPM 16 MB SATA 3.0 GB/s

If I buy 3 to/6.0 GB/s hard drive and use it as a hard drive, will I use these two hard drives as a secondary hard drives?

    Thank you!

For those who might be interestd, this is what I found after some digging and calling:

Since the motherboard that comes with e9180t (ipmtb-tk) is SATA 2, its speed is limited to 3.0 GB/s.   When 6.0 GB/s hard drive is connected, the speed will slow down to 3.0 GB/s.

You can only use the full 3 TB capabity if your motherboard bios has opportunity to support UEFI interface.  However, most of the motherboards built before 2011 doesn't have this option.  ipmtb-tk is one of them.  However, there is a work around.

    1. go in the bios and check that the interface is set to AHCI (non-RAID).

    2. when the disk partition is loaded, you will be able only to the 2 TB partition.  another partition 750Go seems a separate partition that you cannot change.  Partition the 2 TB the way you want to and install Windows 7 on it.

    3. after that excavation is done, download Seagate Disk Wizard.  Later one of their homepage did not work, however.  You must download this one:

    http://www.seagate.com/staticfiles/support/downloads/discwizard/DiscWizardSetup-14382.en.exe

I don't know why they don't have this default link on their home page when you go to download DiscWizard.

Once the wizard disk is installed, it will pick up the 750Go that you weren't able to before partition as a new drive and now will allow you to partition.   (Keep the MBR instead of TPG setting, format it to NTFS)

Once you partition using the tool, Viola!  a new drive with 750 GB of space has been added as a new drive.

  • adding additional hard drive

I've added some Rams, dvd player and hard drive on my desktop pc HP Pavilion P7-1235.

All have been recognized "Rams, dvd and HDD player" in office management.

My problem is that I can't access the new disc hard second "seagate barracuda 1 TB" because it does not show on my computer page.

The new dvd player is there but not the hard drive.

Q What should I do to access this new second hard drive.

Access the "computer management / Disk Management Console" and initialize the disk. See http://www.brighthub.com/computing/hardware/articles/22069.aspx for more information, if necessary.

  • Adding a second hard drive internal in a T510?

I bought the new 510 with the internal hard disk of 500 GB 7200 RPM, and I think about adding another one with the same characteristics.

    (1) is there a place to add a second hard drive

    (2) if so, would you have a second hard drive, or run a raid?

    (3) If you want a raid you would reflect the main disk failure?

    (4) what are the disadvantages of having a second disk except weight?

Lenovo said it would work in the notes to the mobile 500 GB internal drive here.

  • OS x 10.8 guest - do not install additional hard drives at startup

    Hello

I am running OSX ML 10.8.3 and Fusion 5.0.3 and whirl ML 10.8.3 and.app as a guest for Netboot and DeployStudio.

I added additional virtual hard disks for this virtual machine for the storage of the image. They are IDE, drives hard line - standard stuff. Several times when I start the guest additional drives do not mount. In disk utility I see them but can mount them, and if I do a repair disk it just runs forever, does nothing I think. If I restart the guest they sometimes mount and are fine, no damage. Other times I have to restart several times to get them.

    Has anyone else seen elsewhere?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hi Chris,

Is there a reason you chose IDE instead of SCSI?

Recent versions of Mac OS doesn't get along well with the virtual hard drives on our emulated PIIX4 IDE controller, which is why we default to SCSI drives creating Mac OS VMs and the addition of hard drives for them.  I strongly recommend that stick you with a SCSI virtual hard drives for Mac OS clients.

    See you soon,.

  • Presario CQ5110F: COMPAQ Presario CQ5110F adding a second hard drive and...

Good so I took the lead when writing my original post on how to combine the two computers successfully.
Not enough research, no question, just a little say aloud... Sorry about that.
    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/desktop-hardware-and-upgrade-questions/HP-Pavilion-slimline-s3505f-amp-...

I had little time today messing with both ' puters and discovered...
They need a good cleaning and had.
The noise of the Presario is indeed the fan on the radiator, it's just old and tired. Who cannot be strong in a music room; new fan may not be too expensive.
So I decided the Presario is my starting point.

I would add the hard drive of the Slimline as slave; they have different connectors tho.

    (1) if I just unplug the V2000 CD reader (that has the straight plugs) and use them to connect the second hard drive will I just lost my CD player? It is very good.
    (2) what parameters of rider (if any) do I need to have on each disc? Do not see outside the car Slimlines.

I looked closer 2 slots for RAM and noticed that beside them there seems to be 2 places in addition to the Board of Directors, unused with no present holders plastic.

    (3) is it possible to add more slots and double the RAM? I would get 8 + GB and a 64-bit system end by ;~)

Neither office seems to have the ability to run 2 monitors as is. No problem 29 "should do for now.
Can't see a way to take the card out of the Slimline wireless and put it in the Presario. Internet not immediately necessary, hard connection cable always an option.

All the other tips and advice on how to optimize my sytem are also welcome.
Thank you for your time and helping an old guy handyman.

There is no adjustment to make on hard disks of the rider SATAS. According to me, that one can think of the old school the IDE drives.

The image below is a diagram for your motherboard. You have enough SATA ports to be used for the second and even a third hard drive.

DDR2 memory modules can be a little difficult to source. The current generation of add-on memory is the DDR3 specification.
