Adding Exception Certificate SSL in Firefox 4

I recently installed Firefox 4 beta 11 and now can't access some Web pages provided by my University that use SSL encryption.

The error message I get (in a pop-up box) is:

evasys. Urz.Uni-halle.de uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is not approved, because no sender string has been provided.

(Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)

It has been a known issue that somehow Firefox does not handle the issuer of the certificate chain correctly (this is what the it Department) and the solution so far was to add an exception for this site in Firefox 3.x.x

It would be nice for me for Firefox 4, too, but I can't find a way to add this exception. As soon as I reject the error message box by clicking 'OK' nothing happens, don't "this connection is not approved" - page (http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/This%20connection%20is%20untrusted#w_certificates-and-identification) is open or anything equivalent.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Nothing has changed about adding exceptions in Firefox 4 AFAIK.

If you can not add an exception, but get a pop-up with the error message, you can go the pref browser.xul.error_pages.enabled on the topic: config page and make sure that the value is set to true (the default).

You can retrieve the certificate and the control that has issued the certificate.

  • Click on the link at the bottom of the error page: "I understand the risks".

Let Firefox recover the certificate: "Add Exception"-> "get certificate".

  • Click on the "view..." button. "to inspect the certificate and the Coachman, who is the sender.

Only leave the brand in the box at the bottom to "permanently store this exception' If you trust this certificate.

  • Click on "Confirm the Security Exception" to enter the site if you still want to go to this site.

  • How can I determine the configuration of TLS/SSL in Firefox ver 38?

I received the following message (partially shown) when I tried to connect to a particular Web site.

    The secure connection failed
An error occurred during a connection to xxxxxx.xxx. Cannot communicate securely with counterpart: no common encryption algorithm. (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap).
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

I tried the MS IE browser and had a similar view. I checked the security settings on IE, added TLS 1.1 and 1.2 of TLS selections and solved my problem on the Internet Explorer browser.

So I wanted to check the settings for TLS/SSL on Firefox but couldn't find where they were selected. I thought that they used to be under Tools/Options. Where can I go to check them?

You can post a link to a page accessible to the public (i.e. no authentication or signature required)?

The site may attempt to return to a lower version of TLS in a way that is no longer allowed in current versions or maybe use a deprecated suite of encryption.

You can open the topic: config page through the address bar and use the search bar to locate this pref:

    • Security.TLS.insecure_fallback_hosts

You can double-click the line to edit the prefs and add the complete field to the value of this preference.
If there are already websites (domains) in this list, then add a comma and the new domain (without space).
There should be only areas separated by a comma in the column value (example.com,www.example.com).

If this help you can contact this Web site and ask them to look into this and update their security.

  • C stamp on the "Add Exception certificate" warning, what to check to avoid the lack of safety of Thunderbird: "Confirm Security Exception" or "Cancel"?

When the "Add exception certificate" dialog box comes up with the warning "you are about to replace how Thunderbird identifies this site" which is the trunk to check?

I want to stay with Thunderbird security system. Can I check "Confirm Security Exception" or "Cancel"?

Unfortunately, some sites do not properly take their certificates. So basically if you trust the site, you can confirm the exception. If it is an unknown site, or you are not sure about, then cancel. Of course if you do not confirm the exception, you will not be able to see/use the site.

  • where can I find ssl with Firefox 33.0

Where can I find the list of SSL with Firefox 33.0 encryption

It has been a critical vulnerability discovered in ssl 3.0, so it is better to turn it off and rely on the Protocol tls instead. It is what will make the setting change that I recommended above.

Otherwise, ssl 3.0 and tls is enabled in firefox anyway - you can test that on a site like https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest/viewMyClient.html

Sign up for a certificate from a public certification authority and use the FQDN to connect to the VPN. Then these warnings should not appear.

  • Client certificate SSL V3.0

How can I connect to a web service that requires client certificates SSL V3.0 using CFMX?

I am trying to use a client certificate to connect via CFHTTP a secure Web site and I'm getting a "403.7 - Forbidden: certificate customer required" error. I have correctly installed the Web site cert by following the instructions here:
    http://www.TalkingTree.com/blog/index.cfm?mode=entry & entry = 25AA75A4 - 45a 6-2844 - 7CA3EECD842D B576

When I access the secure site using IE, I am asked to use the installed client certificate, and then I'm able to view the content secure without no 403 errors.

After completing the research question, I read in this post that CFMX7.01 does not support the SSL V3.0 protocol:
    http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/message.cfm/forumid:4 / messageid:229870 / step: 0

Did someone using client certificates SSL V3.0 with CFMX7.01? Is it a question of Adobe or java problem? Are there alternatives?

    CFX_HTTP5 worked great!

I wish just called him 'good '. I asked the question about a popular mailing list and got absolutely no response. I also searched Google for a few hours and did not find anything. CFX_HTTP5 did the job and now I can finish what I started instead of saying my client I found a mission critical issue that ColdFusionMX couldn't do.

    Thanks again!

  • Firefox blocks the pop-up Windows Gmail even after adding exception of Gmail

Firefox Gmail blocks every time I try to open a new window/tab through my Inbox, asking me permission each time. It's a question of low but persistent. I entered the content settings and added Gmail as an exception to the rule of the pop-up and also checked the Info Page to make sure that pop-ups were allowed from Gmail. No solution seems to work. Are there patches? Beyond to allow all pop-ups?

Oh, which explains it. Redirect block is a completely different framework.

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced

Under the mini general tab in the accessibility section, uncheck the box for "warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page.

    What is fix?

  • Firefox refuses to stop the blocking of pop-up windows - up, even with added exceptions and blocker completely disabled.

I work in a facility that uses a corporate intranet to access our database. The database uses windows pop up widely important information. Problem is that Firefox absolutely will NOT stop block popup windows no matter what I try. At first I added our database server to the list of exceptions. It worked for a while, but soon after resumption of the important pop-up blocking. I then completely disabled the blocking of popup windows (options > > content > > unchecked "block popup windows"). It did not work until I closed and reopened Firefox. A week later (today!), Firefox takes over again blocking the pop-up windows. I double checked my settings to confirm that Firefox still claims to have the popup blocker off.
At this point, I am at a loss on how to proceed. I looked at other issues similar and my frustration (and certainly their even more), individuals requesting repeatedly told them to turn off the blocker of popups even after explaining that they already have. Help would be very appreciated.

Thanks for the description of the Firefox Safe Mode. I just thought that Safe Mode is a condition under which we could launch Windows XP in a minimal operating system by starting a startup sequence, hold down the F8 key and effectively manage the prrams troubleshooting and maintenance for Windows. It seems that the Windows XP of Firefox version could run not affected by a virus, a worm or other malware, and ge fixed.

Please try this Linux distribution. They are many, and I'm a fan.

  • Version 4.0.1 will not allow exception certificate when it has expired

SSL connection fails with "an error occurred during a connection to 24xx:xxxx:x:xx:443.

Certificate of the issuer of the certificate has expired. Check your date and time system.

    (Error code: sec_error_expired_issuer_certificate).
Previous versions of Firefox allows me to add an exception. This one doesn't. I get the same error with certificate to get. I deleted the previous certificate information and it will not be reset on a new connection attempt. Is this a bug? I get in fine with IE.

Try to manually add an exception in Certificate Manager.

  • Can I re - enable SSL in Firefox without downgrading? When I hit an SSL site only, my current single is to use another browser.

Simply tap on a SSL site only I needed to access that 35 blocked FF. I see not one obvious way to create an exception or re - activate. We need this option... many users include POODLE and can make an intelligent decision about the risks. TLS has its vulnerabilities as well.

Hello ancistrus, as you know ssl3.0 encrypted connections can be is no longer as secure as a vector of attack against them ('POODLE') became known. Please contact the responsible webmaster of the site and urge them to update their encryption to something contemporary.
    https://blog.Mozilla.org/security/2014/10/14/the-poodle-attack-and-the-end-of-SSL-3-0/

If you want to re-enable ssl 3.0 in firefox, you can do that - but remember the consequences, you will become vulnerable to the attack mentioned above: enter Subject: config in the bar firefox address (confirm the message information where it appears) & search for the preference named security.tls.version.min. Double-click it, change its value to 0 and restart the browser.

  • Conflict of Certificate SSL RV082 Cisco for ActiveSync

I have a Cisco RV082 session before my exchange server. I have the port forwarding for 443 to my exchange server.

My ActiveSync (iPhone, Droid) users get a connection error when HTTPS is enabled on the Firewall tab using the MS Connection Tester, it appears that the ActiveSync connection picks up the cert of Cisco, installed on the RV082 and not the cert I on the Exchange Server.

If I turn off HTTPS then it all works.

That would be fine except that I seem to need HTTPS to my VPN connection enabled to work.

    Help!

I saw this question on RV0xx V3 devices. The devices are built with more security, but the device will always meet the demands of SSL certificates and not transfer the request even if the port forward is activated. Even when the port which is transferred 443 is not the router will always respond with its own SSL certificate. If you experience this kind of configuration problems. Please if you do not need ensure the management to distance, SSL VPN, or secure disable management LAN HTTPS under the firewall settings. If you need these parameters so please call in and create a case. More business with this number, we create the problem gets noticed and solved.
