Adding hard drive in the optical drive in an Z210 CMT - method?

Not obvious HP documentation exactly which carrier is needed to set up a standard 3.5 "SATA hard drive in one of the positions below the optical drive.

HP parts list shows HP #619242-001 as carrier to achieve, but this part, judging by the photos, just doesn't seem right: large heat sink, a kind of connector built, etc. Also, of course, over $ 40 with shipping. Just to mount a drive?

Am I missing something here?

DRM for your help!

Only HP number piece you posted actually represents a HP original Western Digital IcePack, which allows the conversion of an SSD 2.5 "or the hard disk in a 3.5 form factor" which exactly reproduces the form of a standard disk 3.5 "(including the change of accessories features/SATA power correctly to the left, and either in the middle of a Bay that may be important in some workstations).  Here's a picture of:

If you have a spare 5.25 "Bay that you can remove the 'empty' in your workstation of Z, then here's the information you want about the device that accepts a standard 3.5" disk (or the IcePack 2.5"Drive Converter above).  This is the HP NQ099AA sled, which replaces the empty 5.25 ", and you can see from the image below that there's a front slit black plastic to allow the entry of ventilation.  It has a metal back slot to accept what seems to be the Green 3.5 "HP drive original holder that was used in the era workstations xw (slide in rear), and who will be included.  These types of 5.25 "era sleds Z generally works very well in the era post xw optical drive bays, also.  HP is one that accepts two drives 2.5 "in a sleigh (picture not included).  I bought some guys from Alan on eBay several times... good company.  Search on eBay for this code part option see more photos.

I do not have a workstation Z like yours to compare to, so maybe you don't have a spare optical drive Bay to insert such an adapter in.  However, looking at the Z210 photos on eBay that looks exactly what you need.

Hope this helps and let us know the results of others to take advantage...

  • Pavilion 500 adding hard drive

Bought a desktop Pavilion 500 computer last week.  Kind of disappointed with the documentation that comes with it, also disappointed with the documentaion on this site, just seems to have two manuals supplied with the computer, PDF files (but, maybe I'm not looking in the right place).  Nothing in the documentation provided with your computer that shows what the computer looks like inside, no info at all on the update of the computer (adding another hard drive - what memory?).  I open the computer and take a look to see what is inside, but the manual says that if I open the computer and break the security seal I certify that the computer was working properly until I tried to upgrade the computer, and if the security seal is broken it could screw up my warranty.  I think there must be space for another hard drive, but who knows.  I would like to install the IDE of my old computer hard disk, do not know if this is possible.  I know I can get a disk enclosure and connect it to a USB port, but prefer to install the drive in the computer (may be screwing up the warranty...).  If an IDE drive may not be installed on the computer, as it is, maybe some sort of a SATA to IDE adapter or card would work.  Anyone have any ideas?

According to respondents, this adapter converts IDE drives to Sata port.

  • Pavilion 500-098: adding hard drive, but no 2nd hard drive Bay

I want to add a second internal hard drive to this computer, but unfortunately the computer has only a hard drive Bay. There is plenty of space for a second hard drive, I thought that I would put the player in the unused space, setting in place somehow so that it does not move. I know I could install an external hard drive, but prefer to have an internal hard drive. The power supply has a supplement of power supply (unused) harddrive.  The motherboard is a Joshua-H61-Μatx. It has 4 SATA connections on it.  SATA0 is connected to the hard drive, SATA2 is connected to the DVD player. SATA1 and SATA3 are free. My idea of adding a second hard drive without a second HDD Bay would work?

You can use dynamic disks Windows (convert only the second disc), and then add the second partition.

But I'd rather not use a dynamic disk.

Or you can use diskpart and make that extend your volume.

Quick and easy, but Microsoft does not support the diskpart.

Or use Partition Magic or similar tools.

Or use Convert from VMware to create a new virtual machine with different size disks.

  • R310 adding hard drive space

Greetings! I have a Dell R310 with the standard configuration 250Gig Raid1 hard drives 2 x 250gig, that gives a virtual disk. Question, can I buy another SATA to 2 x 1 TB drives and create a second virtual disk with Raid1 or should I break the current Raid1(possibly format) before adding more storage? Thanks, Gavin

    Hello Gavin

    Gavincr001
Can I buy another SATA to 2 x 1 TB drives and create a second virtual disk with Raid1

Yes, you should be able to. If you have slots for 2 additional readers, then you can create a second table. I don't know any of our controllers that support only RAID 1 array.

    Thank you

    Here is the Manual:

See page 12. You lift the grid car listed on page 13 in the lower right and install a 3.5 inch drive in it. Run the power and SATA data to it and you should have a second hard drive.

    Trikefreak,

The drive cage in that series is supposed to support 3 discs. As mentioned, you will need the power and SATA data for each drive cables. He made 6 SATA 3 ports on the motherboard.

  • Pavilion Media Edition a1640n - adding hard drives

I want to add a second hard drive of my Media Edition Pavilion a1640n.

I found the SATA ports, but I can't find a free plug in power cable.

The existing HD has 2 caps of small power inside. 1 is just a 2 orange wires.

    Any help?

You must upgrade the power supply to one with more capacity and connections to add a hard disk in the current configuration of your PC.

An alternative would be to delete the connections of power and data on the DVD player and use them for the additional disk. You really use the DVD player very often or is it just take place?

I could really justify not upgrade the PSU, in terms of expenditure, as the PC has very little residual value after eight years of use.

The PC is worth the upgrade when it may stop working at any time?

Eight years of use on a pc is actually quite extraordinary. Consider yourself lucky.

  • G2 HP 450: adding hard drive for hp 450 g2?

    Hello

I just bought hp 450 g2 there ssd 128 gb

    and intel i5 5200u

    Intel hd 5500

    4 GB of ram

anyway... I want to add the hard drive of my laptop...

    How can I do this?

I searched a lot but I don't have an answer to my question

    Thank you

Are you eager to replace your SSD 128 GB with a larger SSD?   Replace your CD/DVD-ROM drive or add a second SSD/hard drive instead?

If you are talking about a second hard drive, I bought this for my G2 450 ProBook and installed a 500 GB SSD in this basket where was my CD-Rom drive.    Of course I don't have a CD inside the laptop now, but I never use it anyway.  Can I use a USB CD-Rom if I need one.

  • Adding hard drives for servers

We have two HP ProLiant DL380 G6 servers, each in a RAID 5 with ESX 4 configuration.  We use vSphere on these two servers, and the controller of vSphere is 4.1.

This is a test environment, so it is not necessary to have the installation faster and more reliable.  More space most of the time is the key.

We would like to add more hard drives:

    1. can you just connect the hard drives in the existing bays and let the RAID controller (restriping, etc.)?

2 if not, is our only option (if we want to keep the current VM) to back up the existing configuration of vSphere, add hard drives and rebuild the RAID array and then retrieve the data from the backup?

    3. If the backup is the way forward, what recommendations do you have for vSphere backup?  Less expensive would be the way to go here (what software and what external hard drive?).

    4. can you create a single Bay RAID5 on two servers instead of two RAID5 arrays separated? (I don't like this option because it only will give us 300 GB more space with less reliability, but is requested)

I searched a bit on this site and did not see much on this particular confuguration, so any help would be highly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    1. you can add additional disks to a RAID set, you can even change the level of RAID (if necessary) using the Configuration utility of the table (on the SmartStart CD) However, these functions are generally available on the RAID controller with BBWC (battery buffer cache).

    2. you should always have a backup!

    3. you can take a look at ghettoVCB

    4. No, you can not extend the RAID on two physical servers.

  • Adding hard drive for poweredge 2900

I need to add a hard drive for storage on a server poweredge 2900.  There are 4 HARD drives in a RAID 5 array, but I don't want to add the new hard drive in the array.  I installed the HDD but impossible to initialize the disc and do it online.  Is there something that needs to be done first?  I do not have the options to reconfigure, only blink and add spare of the OSMA.

    Thank you

Assuming you have a PERC 5/6, it is important to know that the PERC does NOT support non-RAID.  So, if you want to use a disk like a stand-alone drive, you must first configure it in a RAID array.  The only RAID level that accepts a single drive is RAID 0.  You can do since within the OMSA inside the BONE (storage, PERC, Information/Configuration, create/New in list dropdown controller), or you can do it from the CTRL-R during POST utility (brightness, control F2, Create/New - be sure to check the advanced options and initialize boxes).

(Reconfigure is the option that you choose to add it to your existing 5 RAID to increase its size.)

  • Adding hard drive to power Edge 1900

I'm out of storage and need to add a hard disk.  I currently have PE 1900, PERC 5i, 3 146 GB SAS drives. I think I have RAID 5 config.   I just bought a 4th hard disk 300 GB Dell (they don't sell the 146 more.)  The salesman said I can just add this to the rack and it will be automatically recognized and configured in the 3 current discs.  Is this correct?

    THX

The Reconfigure statement is designed to add space to an existing one on the fly table and everything online, so that your data will be safe, however, you should never be without a backup. OMSA can be downloaded from the Support Site. If you need a link, let me know which operating system you are running.
