  If you added via the preferences system/users and groups, it should appear as a long time that you have set the display of connection to appear.   You can't really merge two accounts. You can copy data from one account to the other. Folder options > view tab > check "Show hidden files". Then go to:

  c:\Documents and Settings\name of the old account and copy the files to My Documents, desktop, Favorites in folders in your new user account. When you have all your stuff, you can delete the old user account from the control panel > user accounts. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  I think preventing the admin account to remove or install devices.  This causes a problem.  Looks like it's AD GP as is grayed out and I can't add locally.  The network team claim there is no GPs AD to limit the admin account local they know of.

  General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

  You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.
