Administrator accounts and user Standard

I want to configure my Windows 7 Professional user accounts properly for one user and seeks advice.

In getting started, I entered a password for the Administrator icon that is displayed on the PC.

Can I add a second administrator account and a Standard account for a user?  Thank you.

This seems absolutely perfect for me, indeed.  And if you are curious and you want to check, you can open a command prompt (right-click of your Start button and choose it from the list), and type net user to see which accounts you listed.

After you have finished it all, I suspect that will show you:

If you added via the preferences system/users and groups, it should appear as a long time that you have set the display of connection to appear. To do this, go to System Preferences/security and privacy. Then check the check box turn off automatic connection . This should show the login screen at startup. You may need to click the lock (lower-left) icon to unlock the setting to check it out.

Would sincerely appreciate your very specific instructions? ... step by step, if possible? Not quite a prolific technician, but no slouch, not more.

    Thank you very much!

You can't really merge two accounts. You can copy data from one account to the other. Folder options > view tab > check "Show hidden files". Then go to:

c:\Documents and Settings\name of the old account and copy the files to My Documents, desktop, Favorites in folders in your new user account. When you have all your stuff, you can delete the old user account from the control panel > user accounts. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

I don't know if there is something else that is affected.  How can I fix it, my level of knowledge is limited on what I should and should not on my system.
You can probably fix your problem by using the system restore. Here's how it works:
    1. keep tapping F8 during the first phase of startup.
    2. select Repair from the menu.
    3. Select an administrator account, and then enter its password.
    4. When you are prompted, select System Restore.
    5. set Windows to a point before this problem occurred.
    6. plan in advance and create, test and document a spare, even admin account that you have a spare House key.

I think preventing the admin account to remove or install devices.  This causes a problem.  Looks like it's AD GP as is grayed out and I can't add locally.  The network team claim there is no GPs AD to limit the admin account local they know of.

Also, I try to use the process on the machine monitor, but who needs administrator rights and he repeats that the local administrator account is not a member of the Administrators group, but it is.

Any ideas?  Even if it's just he Process Monitor bit setting?

And looking at the photo can someone explain which means that icon next to load and unload device drivers.  It is different from the others and think that it is linked, may be trying to tell me that it is a strategy of AD Group.

I talked to the networks, they said there is not together AD GP for this.  I used the local administrator account to create a new local administrator account and put it in the Administrators group.  Connected to it and it also has the same problem.

    Any ideas?

The symbol, that you reference indicates that the setting has been locked by group policy and is not editable.  When I saw it in the past, the only way I could replace, it is using "secedit".  For more information about this command:

  • I got 3 accounts, two were administrator accounts and a regular user account. Now, I find that both my administrator accounts have become odinary leaving me without any user accounts administrator account. How can I now get an administrator account?

I don't remember doing anything that could have caused this problem.

Enable the built-in Administrator account log in, make your changes to user accounts, search for malware to be proactive.

    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

First try a system restore to when things worked. If this fixes things, very well. If this is not the case, try to start in Safe Mode, because the normally disabled built-in Administrator account can be activated if no other administrative user is available on the system. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. That you will get to the diagnostic menu where you can use your arrow key to select Mode without failure. If the built-in administrator is enabled, you will see an icon for it on the Welcome screen.

If the above does not work:

If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [Enter]

Remove the installation DVD and reboot the system in normal Mode. You will see an icon for the administrator on the Welcome screen. If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair the system Windows Vista (not a system recovery!) in the menu diagnosis. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. If this isn't the case, you can do a repair file Vista bootable DVD in this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent asmuTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or freeImgBurn software to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data.

After net user, remove the bootable CD and restart the computer. You will now see an icon for administrator on the Welcome screen. Connect to this account. After getting things sorted, disable the administrator built-in yet for security reasons * after * creation of a user and administrative per the recommendations below.

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

  • I tried to create a second administrator account and my original went

I tried to set up a second administrator to connect and now I can't access the mine. I tried to start another and he tells me that my account already exists, but I can't seem to him

If you tried to use the same account / username, so maybe it's a conflict.

but in any case, you can restore the accounts of users through the system restore.

my suggestion is to run a restore via safe mode and restore the old admin account.

  • Slow connection (10-15 seconds) for Windows 7 Home Premium administrator accounts, but not standard accounts

I have a new computer with a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium.
This is a pretty fast PC with an i7 2600 and an SSD.

When I log on to an administrator account, it takes about 10-15 seconds, however when I connect to a standard account, it takes less than a second.

I can create a standard account, sign a bunch of times immediately, then give him admin privileges and it suddenly starts to take 10-15 seconds. He switch back to the standard, and login is immediate.

Any ideas what may be the cause?

    1. do you receive an error message while starting?

When you have finished, try to plan ahead a little. Have a computer with a single administrator account, it's something that compulsive risk takers indulge in. The rest of us sure we at any time two fully tested and documented admin accounts.
