Reset administrative password seems to not work.
I get 'error' whenever I press NEXT after entering my NEW password. I did a system restore on my laptop which brought to factory condition. The administrator password I don't know, isn't allowing me to enter my laptop and when I try to use the wizard to reset, it keeps giving me an error. Why it does not work? How to bypass this annoying Vista feature and how do I turn it off?

I have really no idea what I'm talking about so I will explain better than I can - I'm sorry if it does not sense!
We have a network of area to work and I just connected my new PC for her. I've used windows easy to transfer everything from my old PC.
Now I can connect using my old name and password, access the server etc but any time I try to install a program that I need to enter the domain administrator name and password.
I checked all the settings of the user account and my account is defined as an administrator. Is there something else I need to check/change? On my PC or on the server?OK so I just logged in as CNDOMAIN\Administrator and checked the accounts of users who looked the same as above, but when I logged in as CNDOMAIN\Jac I am now able to install / make changes without any problems. Strange, but now solved!

As JoeWilliams56 says, it's a BIOS password. To reset the password, you can either remove the battery CMOS for quite awhile, say a minute or two (make sure that the main power is off during this period).
In addition, most desktop computers have Cap BIOS reset setting on the motherboard. Definition the CAP to restore mode clears the BIOS and the password is removed. In laptops, the CAP is absent; Instead, jumper PIN must be bypassed manually. For this step, see the computer user/service manual. -

I need to change the administrator password
My husband was the administrator of our computer and he died in June. I don't know what it is. I never needed to know because he took care of everything. How to change or find out what it is. The system restore disk will do it
Hello
The system restore disk will not help you find the password. Unfortunately, you cannot change the password without knowing the administrator password. If you have another
account administrator on the computer, then you can log in to that account and change the password from there. Since you have a restore disc, you can reinstall Windows and
start all over again.Refer to this article:

How can I update Tiger operating system without an administrator password?
I got an iMac using OS Tiger, last updated in 2010. I did not have the administrator password and have not been able to find out what it is. How can I update software?
You can not. You need to get the original Mac OS X shipped with this computer. Contact Apple to order. Make sure that you have the serial number of the computers and the ID of the model practice before calling:

The clearing - Optiplex 760 administrator password
OK I have followed the instructions on Dell's website:<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell> I need to change/delete the administrator password because the systems guy has passed away and I need to change the boot order on one of the machines so that we can perform a clean install of the operating system. I removed the jumpers as described in the instructions but nothing changed. I also removed the bios battery CR2032 and this too didn't change anything. Can I remove the battery and leave the machine un-powered for 24 hours to wipe everything that is hard coded in the bios? Or can somebody tell me where else is the power coming from to keep remembering the passwords? There must be a way of wiping everything to get me going. I thought I will flash the bios if this would work but I can't boot from any media because the first media it looks for is HD and I can't change anything without the Administrator password. Please note: this question is about Bios' Administrator Password (NOT Windows Administrator Password). I posted a similar question on Microsoft Newsgroup but they don't have a clue about this. Thanks.
Hello
Welcome to the community
If you try the procedure described on the link you provided that it should work immediately. You perform the steps on the clearing CMOS settings? You can try to remove the battery for a long period of time. Remove all the cables connected to the motherboard. Including the Rams. Then try again. If the same thing happens, motherboard can issue.
Let me know if you need further assistance, happy to help you!
Kind regards
