Sounds like you are trying to install with the ORIGINAL serial number provided with your product rather than the NEW one with the download.
Adobe do support the last two versions (10 and 11) so if they have knowledge of 7 at all it's just a lucky accident...!
Furthermore, I hope that you install on an old computer to Windows XP, because you won't get far in Windows 7 or Windows 8 with this version...

Tried new support chat online and found an individual who understood exactly what to do.
For any other person with the same problem, here's what to do:
- Enter the serial number of the upgrade of the software (look for the green check mark)
- Select the product calling and enter the serial number of eligible product
- Software either active or generates an error message. If the error message, go to step 4
- Hit (ctrl + Shift + Double click left) - which launches the sequence of stimulus / response as follows:
- system creates a code of challenge you will need to provide Adobe with a customer service representative
- Adobe customer service will provide you with a response code that perfectly complements the software activation

I just bought the edition student pro Adobe Acrobat XI from amazon. The installation wizard does not recognize my valid serial number. I entered it with and without a hyphen. What should I do?

Okay - just realized that the last screen was asking just for a 'title' to my question!
I have Adobe Acrobat standard XI, but at trial as the "compare documents" would include Pro. I tried to download a free trial of Pro, but the installer said that "it has detected a more complete version of the product" - probably my standard version? - and stopped installation. It's not clear to me, what are my options for upgrading to Pro, or selectively to have bought the plugin "compare documents" (if possible). I use which is probably a business version of acrobat (i.e. my employer has, not me)-so do not know what catchy limits. I think it's a simple question, but he would appreciate advice.

I tried several times to install the updated Acrobat 11.0.14 version. It downloads, verifies and starts to install, but never finished. The installation program displays a 'wheel' in rotation that can go for hours. I finally force quit the installation program. The update does ' t happen. I still have the 11.0.13 version. How can I make this work?

Accidentally, I bought the Mac in December and contacted support which helped me to get the right version installed, but now the PC version is not in my account downloads and I need to add it to a new computer. I had to replace my hard drive and so I had to reinstall Premiere Pro CS4. I tried to do with the files that I had downloaded before, but the installation failed and gave me the error message "the Installer database is corrupt. Please contact Adobe Customer Service.
I assumed that the files I downloaded have become corrupted, so I opened a session and re-uploaded the files ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.7z and ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe. I ran ADBEPPROCS4_LS7.exe and it also failed and gave me the same error message. I tried another download on a different page and got the same error again.
Can anyone suggest what I can do to get my program installed?

I use creative cloud membership. And I fails to cancel the membership. I use google chrome and firefox to access my account, but when I opened 'manage plan' to cancel, there is always a 404 error.
So I try to contact the customer service team, but there is no any direct e-mail contact, only forum and phone number, no cat. I post in the forum and that answer only Member me, not the adobe staff.
We, customer, pay US $ 33/month to get a very bad customer service. I use many online services and Adobe seems the worst customer service I've experienced up to now.
