  This morning (June 11, 2014), I downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player 14 (due to a upgrade prompt) and now I can not open new tabs. Email links will open new tabs - will be so some internet links will open new tabs - but by pressing on the '+' does nothing. I tried to reinstall Flash Player. I tried to download and install a new Firefox.

  I downloaded the new update and it did not work at all. I had to uninstall and reinstall Adobe 10.3 again. I don't want to go through this. How will I know when a new update works with Firefox? Does anyone know if Firefox works on an update as I am having some problems with it too.

  After hours of reading and checking to make sure I had good things enabled, I did, I gave up and uninstalled the latest version of Adobe Flash Player, they gave me and re-installed and later I had my friend get on Messenger and we tried games and it worked this time.
  For some strange reason when I updated it took me 3 tries before it took. So even if he told me that it has been installed, apparently it wasn't really. Just goes to show you that you can not trust what you see.
  What has really scratching my head was I went to Internet Explorer 8, which I never use more and discovered you can now get Mozilla plug in slip out there and when I did showed that same Adobe Flash Player is outdated but it was to a different version. Not knowing if it would help, I installed a new too and he said it was his understanding that it does not. So I guess you can have 1 version installed on the computer 1 despite 2 browsers different different versions. It becomes too complicated for me. Laughing out loud!
  I work with computers all the time at work but not the technical stuff. If it's something simple, I can guess through it to help someone but it's my first personal computer for me and is a former first, so I got experience using different types. We use the desk at work as well. Personally, I like computers laptops for various reasons. And the mention of people many browsers go way over my head.

  The "Ask Toolbar" is probably originally in the version of Firefox 3.6.13. Disable this extension or uninstall it.

  A question before a recent release would have been so you used the 32-bit version or 64-bit Internet Explorer 9 when you try to use Flash Player - but Adobe is finally out with their version of 64-bit.

  Unfortunately - made Adobe Flash - and so - which is where you probably have to go for taking in charge (even for its installation).

  A few basic suggestions, however...

  Download and install Revo Uninstaller Freeware.  Run it and see if Adobe Flash Player or Shockwave Player of Adoble are always listed.  Remove them if they use Revo Uninstaller Freeware.  You want to eliminate ANY TRACE of them - an aggressive removal / clean.

  The link 'Mode protected Flash' was exactly what I was looking for.

  Check your task manager and see if you have two instances of Flash Player Plugin running. If you do, go to your Flash C:\windows\system32\macromed folder. In Win Vista or 7, 64-bit OS, it should be here:

  C:\Windows\SysWOW64\Macromed\Flash

  Open the file mms.cfg with Notepad and add this line:

  ProtectedMode = 0

  Save the file, and the problem is solved. You should not see two instances of Flash Player, and you will not get the files "fap" more.

  In this latest version, the "+" at the end of the line is no longer opens a new tab. Nothing happens except the screen that says it will open a new tab.   Uninstall (use uninstaller in applications > PSE 9) and reinstall. If you have any type of antivirus software, disable it for installation. Not a bad idea to create a new admin user (System Preferences > accounts) and log in there for the installation. (If all goes well, you can delete the new account later).
