  2. are you able to boot to the desktop in normal mode?

  Method 1:

  If you are not able to boot into normal mode, then I suggest you to start in safe mode and perform the clean boot.

  Note: when you are finished troubleshooting, follow step 7 article to start on normal startup.

  Method 2:

  I also suggest you to disconnect all external devices and then try to start.

  I just bought a little used RockBoxed Clip + someone Head-fi.

  The first time I plug the thing into my laptop with intentions of matching with my MediaMonkey software (so I can load it with music and manage, etc.), it crashes with the USB icon lights up on the screen and a few other icons. Or maybe someone here will know what to do to get this thing not blocked. I tried to look for a pin hole to reset. I saw one at the back of the unit, near the top.   Start the computer in safe mode and check if that helps.
