AFN and roaming

I wonder if someone can help me with some confusion to the NPP.

Suppose that my app uses direct TCP and provides a valid APN for home networking of the user.  If my user then goes on the trip and the service is provided on another network B by a roaming agreement.  My application must provide the AFN for B, or the roaming agreement means it while I still can connect using the AFN for A network?

Thanks in advance for your help

Phil

Unfortunately there is no clear answer here.  It depends on how the carrier have set up their network.  Often, you will need to use the local network (roaming).

  • A problem with the Redirection of folders and roaming profiles - Adobe Flash file

This thread is in relation to a thread started for the Google Chrome browser.  Admins also suggested I have create a post here.  The link to the bug can be found here: http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=97512

This is the first post on the forums of Chrome:

Here students use Windows 7 with redirection folders and roaming profiles.

When in Chrome (any version) and they try to attach a file to an e-mail or upload a file to a site, a 'Find a file' window appears.  When they try to locate the file on their desktop or document file, Chrome hangs for a minute then prompt a user to enter their credentials. Even with the correct credentials prompt says access denied.

If a local user without a roaming profile or the folder redirection tries the same thing that everything works as should.

This problem does not occur in Internet Explorer (all versions) or Firefox (all versions)

The "Search a file" window that appears resembles that of Windows XP, not the other from Vista or Windows 7.

I also believe that I have posted here before on this topic, but can't seem to find the problem.

Basically, right now I tell students not to use Chrome to download or attach data.

I also confirmed AppData folder redirection to be a default/limitation in Flash Player 11 plugin... but only for Google Chrome built-in version of Flash Player 11 (usually located in the Chrome installation folder).  The version of Adobe (usually located in the Adobe installation folder) do not have this problem for me.

Fortunately, Chrome allows you to install the version of Adobe if you want. I have disabled the plugin provided with Google Chrome and Google Chrome Frame, and my users were able again to use my Flash application:

    1. Google Chrome: type chrome://plugins/ in the URL
Google Chrome Frame for IE: enter gcf: topic: plugins in the URL
    2. Click "Détails" to expand the list of plugin
    3. Scroll down to Flash
    4. If you have only one version and it is located somewhere in a folder of Chrome, then disable it, close your browser, reopen it, visit http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer and install the version of Adobe.
    5. If you have several versions, disable the version in the Chrome folder and try to use your Flash application again.

It worked for me; your mileage may vary...

  • Can I plug two Airport Express units with ethernet cord and have a third Airport Express Terminal receive airplay music wirelesslly? In other words, can I combine a Wi - Fi network and roaming?

I have an undesirable on the 1st floor, connected to the cable modem Ethernet event. I want to connect that AE to an another AE on 2nd floor with ethernet cable AND have a 3rd AE on the 1st floor to receive music through AirPlay wireless. I thought that linking the two first AEs with ethernet would improve the performance of web site on my iMac desktop, which is on the 2nd floor and connects to the 2nd floor AE via wifi. The EI the first two are newer model (MC414LL/A); the 3rd AE is old model (MB321LL/A) and is connected to a stereo Bose with a mini-jack to RCA cable double cord. I tried to set up this network using AirPort Utility, but have had no success. I don't know if it is possible to do what I want to do; and if this is the case, I don't know how to set the various parameters for each AE using AirPort Utility. I've temporarily implemented a purely wireless network; Do not connect DO NOT the two AEs with ethernet and everything works. I would enjoy my plan as above, or if I hold with purely network wireless. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Using ethernet network roaming between the two floors is a much better idea than anything wireless.

The installation should be automagical if you start with the two AE plugged in by ethernet.

It must be configured in standard roaming with identical names wireless.

If you have any questions... Please, just after the airport utility screenshots of the configuration... but

An express train is probably the router? You must confirm this.

The second express is so configured in bridge... It's on the network tab, disable the bridge mode.

Without thread is set to create a wireless network and simply use the same name and the same password as the other Express.

As it should be automagical when you WAN on the second AE plugged into the LAN on the first AE.

Wireless and then extend to will also be installed enough well automatically even if sometimes it works better in a client that extend wireless mode.

  • Cisco Aironet AIR-SAP2602I-E-K9 WAP config autonomous and roaming

    Hey guys,.

I'm quite 'green' where wireless technology is concerned, but have a few questions, I was hoping that someone can help me with that.

I have a number of AIR-SAP2602I-E-K9 from WAP that I would install in a standalone configuration (no controller). These will connect in our infrastructure from switch L2 giving access to our corporate network to wireless devices activate. In total, I have 10 WAP which will focus on 2 floors in our office building. I would like to set up seamless roaming allowing users to walk around the building without noticing that their device connects from a WAP to the other.

I guess I just configure each WAP individually with its own static IP address and configure the SSID / wireless network / security but I am wondering if there is a method to export the config filled from a WAP and import in other in order to avoid the obligation to re-create the SSID and the configuration on each WAP again and again. I'm also not sure to know how then would set up roaming between the WAP and also how their awareness of each other (because I'm sure they should be to allow transparent roaming). I can't find any real documentation specifically this - only on controller based deployments.

    Pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much to anyone who takes the time to read this message and reply.

    Thanks in advance.

Must be configured, no, but if your voice using wireless, you probably need to or if you also have sensitive applications.  The reason is the time it takes to perform a roam. If you watch this doc, go to the homelessness section and it will show you a few times homeless.

  • Home Premium and roaming profiles with WHS

I want to my Home Premium installation to save my profile on and use my profile to my Windows Home Server.  When I go into account management to set my account so that the options are grayed out.
    Issues related to the:
    1. is the ability to configure roaming profiles available in home edition Premium?
    2. If they are, what I am doing wrong?
    3. If roaming profiles are not available, they should be for people with WHS.  Home Premium... Home Server... See the link?

    Hello ChiefTom,

I'm sorry for the delay in answering your question.

You are right. I read the wrong question and thought you want to store your roaming profile on the Windows Home Server. I apologize for the misinterpretation.

However, to answer your question. On a stand-alone computer, be it a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can have a local profile.
You must have a network server. She is also grayed out on my local computer, this option is not available.

A profile stored locally is one that is only accessible from the local computer. A roaming profile is stored on a network server and can be accessed from any computer to which a user connects.

Here's a thread on the Windows Home Server forum dealing with roaming profiles. Roaming profiles are not available in the Windows Home Server. I believe that the development team focuses on this feature. They give a kludgey solution that can help you.

  • With VMware View can use persistent disks and roaming profiles together

Site already has XP roaming profiles configuration and are again VDI Win7 so new profiles (username.v2) will be created anyway. However, I want to continue to use roaming profiles, hosted on a server so that the data is replicated and backed up. (redundant solutions already in place) Initially while we configure persistent discs and the VDI will be not synchronize with the roaming profile on D:\   I confirmed that my roaming profiles work very well on a physical system running Win7, but problems with the VDI. I was wondering if I can get them in sync in the current configuration, or if I should scrap the drive persistent in a way that the data will be all stay and synchronize on roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

    Hi, welcome in the community

If you want to use your existing installation of roaming profile, then the best option is do not use "persistent" disk configuration Redirect to drive persistent static and it brings the use of extra storage.

While commissioning a desk with persistent disk pool, view and changes the path of the user in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Profile profile list to the D drive.  This may conflict with your roaming profile configuration. To confirm that, in the physical machine, change string values "Default", 'Profile directory' and 'Public' in the list of profiles registry which refers to a new path.

    > If I should scrap the persistent drive in a way that the data will be all remain and synchronize with roaming profile constantly even if I refresh or update my Golden VDI image?

Yes, it could be a convenient option for you. Deploy pools dedicated without redirection of the user's data

  • Setting up a Wi - Fi connection and roaming off same Airport Extreme

I have a Wi - Fi network at home using an Airport Extreme (high cube) and two airport expresses. It works very well for the main house. But I want to get wireless to my new office located in a room adjacent to the garage. I ran the Cat5 cable to the room, bought an Airport Express and I try to connect via cable. Airport utility sees it as a new Airport Extreme, which tells me that the connections are good, but when he goes to set it up, I get a message "unexpected error". So clearly I'm something wrong, or not to do something - I don't have any idea. I can't use the wireless feature to get a signal to the new office because the walls of the House are plaster.

Thanks for any help on this matter.

    Phil

Please move the new AirPort Express Terminal very close to your "main" AirPort Extreme

Locate a short, spare Ethernet cable... no matter what length will make

Turning off the 'main' AirPort Extreme as well as your other two airport expresses

Restart the 'main' AirPort Extreme and to let a minute, but keep the other two airport expresses power off for now

    Restart your Mac as well

Turn on the new Airport Express for a minute or two

Pressed the reset button on the back of the new Express for 7-8 seconds, then release and allow a minute for the Express start slow, flashing amber light status

Connect the short Ethernet cable from one of the three LAN <-->spare ports on AirPort Extreme 'main' on the 'O' WAN port on the AirPort Express Terminal

    Run again through the configuration

If the Express set up correctly, it shuts down and move it to the new location at the end of the long Ethernet cable and then power back up again.  If the Ethernet cable is not working properly, the Express will work correctly.

Then, turn on your other two AirPort Express devices.

  • Connection UDP, AFN and Blackberry signature setting.

    Hello world

I'm having a problem to launch a connection udp on a blackberry 9000.

I works well on a device, if I put the APN in the device settings (I am on telstra, the AFN is telstra.internet or telstra.wap)

If the device does not have the correct apn defined, the udp connection throws an IOException; tunnel failed.

When I try to put the AFN during the opening of the udp connection, I still get the same IOException.

I open the connection as follows...

    UDP://serverAddress:ServerPort; localPort/Telstra.Internet

I was wondering if someone sees something wrong with this, or if the application must be properly signed Blackberry. I could find no information saying that it is one of the RIM not limited of the api, given also that it works very well if the device is configured which leads me to believe that a signature will not fix this problem.

    Thanks for any comments.

    OK I found the problem,

The url was somehow in the wrong format,

J2ME, you can open a Udp connection in Server mode by not specifying any addresses, it does not work on blackberry.

  • BlackBerry smartphones, which means AFN and for what it is?

    Hello

I use an unlocked Blackberry Bold 9700 from T-Mobile, but my carrie is Vodafone. I am facing a problem with my browser now, several times not to connect to the internet via 3G, works by WiFi.

I discovered that my APN is ecp.tmobile.com, I should change?

    Thank you

    Hey klo - bb,.

Your APN is your "Access Point name" you need the right pair of your current provider to connect to a data session.

You will also need to ensure that your current provider sent you the correct service books.

Here is a page that should give you the information you need, vodafone has a few success stories: http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.php/Carrier_specific_APN/TCP_settings

  • If my phone 5 to GPP 3 to 2 and APN, can I still switch to ios 10 without any problem?

Its unlocked but not jailbroken and still running on ios 8.1.3. I've never tested with carrier unlock, but my step dad gave me his phone and I want to update. It requires changer AFN and PPM 3 to 2 to have a working sim card.

Never mind, I just realized how my question is stupid. Its quite logical, I can't update without having to open it again. I could sell it right.

  • No Gecko browsers load Internet sites not based on Windows 7, but they do it on Windows XP. Also Firefox process does not close and the browser can not shut down or restart.

I tried to install firefox 32 and no site would charge and also the process did not close. I tried to disable ipv6 turning my router settings, so there is that the ipv4 connection and also disabled dns prefetching and define the network to no proxy settings. I uninstalled firefox and tried to reintsall after completely removing everything leaving no trace in appdate local and roaming records and using ccleaner and IObit Uninstaller. Then Firefox would work for a little bit and load Google Facebook and Youtube, when I tried it, but it was very slow, reclassification to the installation of Firefox on my Windows XP that has been improved from 30 to 32. Yet once uninstalled and I tried older versions of Firefox, K Meleon Lunascape and same herd. Flock has worked, but he will soon be unsupported. Finally, when Firefox loaded the CPU usage went from 8% to more than 30% of the Web pages and then loading sites after loading icon appeared. I have other browsers work fine. Right now I use Opera.

I managed to fix it myself. I did a scan to scan with malwarebytes antimalware pro I had and adwcleaner threat and quarantined everything that the first softare found and cleaned with the second, everything appeared to be remnants of old unisntalled programs. I then had to remove the remains of appdata kmeleon and firefox profiles. I only left the firefox of the records that are the browser files I wanted to keep it light. I then checked for settings. I had windows desfault settings check if I have doen not matter what settings with avg pc tuneup 2011, Tweak Me! UWT 2.2 and used TCP Optimizer to bring the network settings by default by windows to 9000 kbps of download speed (after that I did a network speed test). Now firefox is super fast and xcloses normally.

  • Flash does not work in FF26, it works in Chrome and IE. I reinstalled FF and Flash several times. I can't adjust the setting of local storage for Flash either.

Flash does not work on some web sites. I never had a problem before with flash on FF in the nearly 15 years that I've used FF. Recently it has stopped working for some reason any and on some flash sites does not, NHL.com and site of kid Herotopia being just two of them. I updated FF, Adobe flash, the reinstalled version them repeatedly deleted all the files that have been stored on my laptop; that is, profiles, saved favorite nothing that I could find in user accounts and in the local app, low local and roaming data folders. What is strange, is that I can't set the local storage for flash either. When I visit the Adobe site to view the Adobe Flash Player Settings Manager I can move the scroll bar, but cannot check the: allow third-party flash content to store data on your computer. I can't do it on a Web site where the flash does not work. When I try and it changed on any site that it goes back to zero. Not sure if it is a part of the problem. I got tired of many suggestions on the pages of material here, but nothing works. I even tried this http://forums.adobe.com/message/4566499#4566499#4566499

The other strange thing is that I used to get the "warning: script does not" prompt that displays "a script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding." You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script ends. "sometimes when I would buy on Macy's.com. This is the only site that it happened.
I know I have only little technical knowledge, but I have tried to figure this out for a few days and do not know what is happening. The only thing I can think is that I somewhere files corrupted causing this problem. I have just updated to Windows 8.1 tonight in the hope that can help, but nothing helped. I would be very disappointing if I couldn't use FF or must go back using Chrome and FF.
Sorry for the posting long but no solution would be much appreciated.

Yes, I followed essentially the: Manual steps: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/968190?page=5#answer-509209 you have posted.

And after restarting Firefox, Flash worked. Thanks again for your post I could not find this solution on the Adobe forums until you have posted the link.

  • Direct TCP and APN (Please Help)

Hi, I recently published a music streaming application in the wild. In doing so, I was contacted by a number of international users (outside the U.S.) and was informed that they experience difficulty streaming the songs with my application. I did the fundamental duties that we all go when it's time to connect to our software to the outside world (read post from Peter, reverse engineered the diagnostics utility, watched the public domain HTTP connection factory), and I have it set on the use of a slightly modified version of the factory of HTTP connections in my code.

It seems to work well enough for users in the United States (a few complaints side), but I'll have almost no success networks such as Telstra, Vodafone, Wind Mobile, etc. I've been Googling autour and heard some people mention that they need to connect through direct TCP with AFN customized to operate on some networks. Has anyone taken the approach of the course of credentials of the AFN and try them one at a time when everything else fails or is it a bad idea? I'd be better to manually enter an APN? I feel that direct TCP uses by default the AFN phone, so no credentials is specified. Is this true and if so, are they reliable these defautls?

I talked to RIM mount on BIS - B; However, they indicated that it is not practical for my application because of the large amount of bandwidth it consumes. My feelings on the subject at this stage would be better characterized as desperate... Help, please.

BlackBerry most have not all APN settings configured for direct TCP (or HTTP) under Options-> advanced-> APN. If you want your application to work over direct TCP you can ask your users to configure the APN settings to access the Internet (e.g., APN not = 'internet' and no user name or password for Vodafone UK).

To make things worse, many users have data plans that do not have access to the Internet (which means non-BIS/BES) non-BlackBerry. In this case, there is no APN settings that make the direct TCP to work. You need to do your users to communicate with their provider and find our if they have Internet access non - BlackBerry and that AFN, they should use for this.

  • Roaming with two Cisco WAP551

    Hello

I am faced with the installation of an office with two Access Points Cisco WAP551 wireless.

The two access points will be connected via PoE to a Cisco SG200 - 26, which is also related to wired devices and the internet router.

The end customer is also willing to reach for customers roaming wireless with one THAT SSID broadcast in the Office; This means that only one SSID is visible by wireless devices, and which move around the Office connectivity is managed automatically by the second WAP if first becomes too far, without loss of connectivity.

This behavior is possible with these devices and if anyone can give some suggestions key on the WAP configuration?

    Thank you

    Lucio

    EDIT *.
I moved the post in the section of the small business that I didn't notice this before section.

Depends really. Since it is a soho device, they are not very strong on the technical department. I guess your also with a PSK? I also assume that you generally do web surfing and no voice. If your WLAN is identical and the customer will get the same subnet I would give it a try. I think I'm going to work. Make sure your RF cell recovery is good. If this is not the case, your roaming and performance may not look pretty. For what is good, I mean in the middle where the two aps meet they should be low 70 or more. With regard to the terms fast roaming. Which is usually mentioned when you make 802. 1 X security and roaming from ap to ap. Yet once again, I assume you are psk.
