Right click on 'My computer' / select 'manage '.
Under "Services and Applications", select 'Services '.
Check to see if the "Print spooler" service is "started" and "Startup Type" is set to "auto".
Also check if the 'RPC Remote Procedure Call () service is also "started" and "Startup Type" is set' auto.

Solution for "Spooler service does not" with printers HP F4480 all-in-one.
If you receive the prompt that says: "cannot install or print due to 'queue service does not work', here is a simple solution.»
GO to the start menu and click on 'run '.
Type CMD, and then click OK
Type in the box that appears, "net start spooler" and click ENTER.
NOTE: Without quotes and spaces between net start spooler.
The box invites you... spooler is now in service. The printer should now work correctly.

Windows 7 - print spooler starts is not after the October 14 update
I have a HP pavilian HPE running Windows 7 professional 64-bit. After that the windows updates were installed on 14 October, the print spooler service does not start. So yesterday I used the system restore to go back, and the problem was solved. Today, I removed some old print drivers and re-installed updates, and now the print spooler service does not start again.

I have a HP Pavilion dv4-511 with Windows 7. 2 weeks ago I ran a Windows Update and all my printers installed have disappeared after a reboot. I did a system restore and they were all back. Yesterday, I installed an update to a software (Soonr) and it's the same thing. I clicked on the print spooler service to see if I was able to restart and got the error 1053 saying "service did not respond to demand launch or control in a timely." If I click on "Add a printer" in the menu devices and printers, I get the following message: "Windows can't open add printer." The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine. "I rebooted the computer and the same thing continues to happen. I did a system restore and the printers are all back. It seems that every time there is a change to any software, it creates this problem. Help, please! Thank you.

When the updates are installed, the printers will be lost and when you try to start the print spooler service, you get the service saying error 1053 has failed to demand launch or timely control.
The problem may occur if some system files are corrupted or because of malicious content.

I believe that my son's computer has been infected with the Trojan.Agent.Ed virus. I managed to remove it (from different folders in AppData), but a few vestiges remain of course. The windows firewall service does not start - it throws an exception to access denied on startup and when I try to start the service manually.I tried to run the Sysinternals Process Monitor to display all events ACCESS DENIED and checked the permissions on the key to registry MpsSvc in HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services and compared to a corresponding Windows 7 machine. Windows Server Update service does not work after the installation of KB2720211
I have a Server 2008 SP1 32-bit Standard, which had the role of Server Update for the Windows software installed connected to a WSUS upstream server and everything worked, with 17 clients connected to him and get everything their approved patches. It was a new server starting with WSUS added at this time 1 months ago. He had to be upgraded to SP2 S2008 which I did and WSUS have continued to function. After being on SP2, there was another 152 patches to be applied and after that WSUS does not work anymore. It appears 1 patch that has been applied has been KB2720211 that seems to cause problems for a number of people.
The problem is that the update service does not start. An error message comes back that the service has not responded in a timely fashion and I can't find the log files anywhere on what it is. Here is what has been done so far all that in the same issue:
1 deleted WSUS and restarted and installed it again.
2 Remove WSUS and Windows Internal Database, restarted and installed it again (using the download of KB972466).
2.1 install SQL Management Studio and logged to an internal database SUSDB and checked it is not set to single user (I believe it is set for multiuser name but I'm going from memory)
3. install the KB2720211.
4. installation KB2734608
5 remove WSUS and Windows Internal Database, restarted and installed it again (using the download of KB972466).
I am looking for any information on how to solve what is the question, because there is nothing in the log files I can find and no event in the windows event viewer. I am ready to start with the server however if there is something I can look at to possibly solve the problem, please let me know.
