  Try this for a possible solution:

  -check if there is a shortcut to the application is placed on the inside of the after 2014 effects in the After Effects application folder.

  If so, then trash the shortcut and launch after effects 2014 to check on the issue.

  It won't hurt to have Service Pack 1 if have not already.

  You may need to uninstall AE and other CS5 applications, run the Adobe Cleaner application (downloadable from Adobe), then reinstall software antivirus/firewall TURNED OFF.  It can prevent the correct installation.

  Before jumping into this somewhat drastic measure, I'll wait other opinions.

  I found a solution on a post in the forum.

  Installation of creative application Cloud Desktop caused my PS CS6 and applications of Cloud Photoshop CC go error 16. After trying just about everything, open the Terminal and type:
