After installing Windows 7 using MDT, Windows displays the message "Windows Update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running.
Hi all
I worked on creating a better system for my business get an OS up-to-date with all the required software, settings, and drivers. I have previously using WDS as autonomous and just syspreping images and pushing them up until he became incoherent and corrupting of the parts of the image. I did a little surfing on the web and discovered that many computing professionals use MDT to produce images of quality with all the customization they need. So that's the problem.
The image works fine. I'm able to customize the way in which I need to and get most of my successful deployed pilots (problem with trackpad drivers), but the error message I get when I try to run a windows update is "windows that update cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." After I received this message I check my services and it shows the update of Windows running service and long-term as well running services. Tried to restart as suggested and still no results. Undertook research for a possible fix and still nothing.
Any help?
It became quite a headache for me. Thank you guys

Hello
Welcome to the Forums Community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question.
According to the description, you get an error message "FAILED CONNECTION USER INIT" after installing Windows updates.
From my research, this problem occurs if the Userinit key in the Windows registry has been changed. For example, this problem may occur if the Userinit key has a value, but no binary data.
I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.
Method 1:
Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 2: Check the value and binary Userinit registry data
Important: The following instructions contain the steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information, view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
Back up the registry
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registrya. start Registry Editor. To do this, click Start, type regedit in the search box and press ENTER.
b. click continue.
c. Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
d. in the right pane, right-click Userinit, and then click change.
e. in the value data box, type hard disk:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe, and then click OK.
Note: The placeholder of the hard drive refers to the drive on which Windows Vista is installed.
f. close the registry editor.
g. restart the computer.
Method 2:
Restore the system to an earlier point before installing this application.
System Restore can return your files system to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If the system restore does not resolve the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose a different restore point.

lost touch pad dell drivers after installing Windows updates.
Separated from this thread.
I did the update and lost contact dell drivers pad and now I can't play all the games that I got on the computer. The previous update lost my sound card drivers.
Hi Craig,.
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.
I'm sorry to know that you are facing problems after installing Windows updates.
Any Windows specific update which is the origin of the problem or you face the problem after installing updates? This is to check if the updates you receive are associated with hard devices.
To view your history of update, follow these steps:
a. open Windows Update by sliding into the right edge of the screen (or, if you are using a mouse, pointing to the corner bottom right of the screen, move the mouse upward), tapping or clicking on settings, tapping or clicking change PC settingsand then by typing or clicking on update and recovery.b. press or click view update history.
I wish that you install the Dell Web site touchpad drivers.
You can refer to this article for the procedure: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=1JW07
In addition, if all of the updates are at the origin of the problems with the hardware on the PC, then I suggest you also update the drivers from the Dell Web site chipset.
See the article:Download and update drivers

Original title: update Windows impossible currently to check updates because the service doesn't work (Vista 64)
I get the message: ' Windows Update cannot currently check for updates, because the service is not running. " You may have to restart your computer. "I rebooted without change.
I have Vista 64-bit with installed MSE and it cannot update its virus database. I have also Windows Media Center put up a TV and may not be able to download an updated Guide.

Problem updating Windows "impossible to verify updates because the service is not running."
Am having a problem with Windows Update on my laptop (Vista). Receive a prompt that displays "cannot check the updates because the service is not running. You may have to restart your computer. Yes, I restart. That is what it is?
I had the same problem on Vista 3 PC based over the weekend and did what follows with quick success after many corrections suggested on this site:
* go to services and stop the Windows Update Service
* locate C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\folder & remove all it's content (if you have step 1 any content does not correctly as they will be in use by another program)
* restart the Windows update service
* ask to check updates
All mine quickly searched and downloaded all updates applicable, installed and done!
I hope that it works easily for you too :)

I'm not abe to do the Windows updates, message warns me that the service is not running
I can't do an update of windows due to a message saying that the service is not running. What this means and how can I solve the problem.
Hi EmogeneHutchinson,
· Did you do changes on the computer before the show?
· You install updates?
· What is the full error message?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Temporarily disable the security software.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot State to see if there is a software conflict as the clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.
Note: After completing the steps in the clean boot troubleshooting, follow the section How to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state of the link to return the computer to a Normal startupmode.
After the clean boot used to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.
(a) click Start, run.
(b) type msconfigand click OK.
(c) the System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
(d) click the general tab, click Normal startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
(e) when you are prompted, click restart to restart the computer.
Method 3: You can also manually install updates (KB number) by downloading from the Microsoft Download Center.
http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
Method 4: Follow the steps in the article.

Original title: Windows Update No. Longer - Vista business functions
Last month my Win Vista will not update, little matter how many times I try to do. I always get the error message "Windows cannot currently check for updates because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. "Control via msconfig reveals that he is ticked as"running ".
I run Microsoft Fixit has several times. It is said he has "solved" the problem, but it did not work. Of course there is a corrupted somewhere file that needs to be replaced.
Please don't say no "update for Win 7" or "Reinstall Windows" because it's not just going to happen.
Thanks in advance,
Hello
1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?
2. what anti-virus software is installed on your computer?
Follow these methods.
Method 1: Anti-virus software may conflict with Windows Update. You can temporary disable them and check the issue.
Disable the antivirus software
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
Method 2: How to reset the Windows Update components?
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058
Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registryMethod 3: If the methods above do not help, I suggest you delete the edb.log file and check if that helps.
Follow these steps:
a. click the Start button, click computer.
b. now, go to this site: C:\windows\softwaredistribution\datastore\logs\edb.log
c. delete the log file, and then restart the computer and check the issue.
Well, it's going to be a long Chronicle, but in the end, the problem has been resolved. Please bear with me:
Running the program MS Fixit in the past without success, I tried to run the update after you temporarily disable AVG, my program AV. no joy.
I then ran CC Cleaner to get rid of some of 'dead weight '. I even used its registry cleaning option (which included saves).
At that point, I did some 'household', & began to defragment my HD with Defraggler. But since it seems to take forever, I went to My Defrag, who finished the job much quicker.
Although I tried to delete the edb.log file using method 3, I kept getting a message system which was unable to complete this action because the file has been opened in another program. In the end, I was able to delete the file, but fact directly through Explorer. There also seems to be a sort of small file edb.log, indicating that it was a "recovered" version I deleted that one as well.
At this point, I ran MS Fixit, who States that the Windows Update components needed to be fixed and proceeded to do so again. Because he had allegedly "fixed" my Updater in the past, I was not holding much hope that this time would be any different. So, after that what he has done, I was pleasantly surprised, I might actually start updating!
However, the update message that a new version would be dl before I could go any further. So I did it.
When the new version is started, it ran for about 10 minutes, coming with about 50 updates. According to flush out those who were of no use to me, finally I had dl and installed all relevant updates. And now, the update seems to work fine.
Once again, my apologies for the long answer. But I wanted to tell the whole story, as I did not quite plan of RajithR.
Thank you!

Only the news I get is an information box stating:
"Windows Update cannot currently check updates, because the service is not running." You may have to restart your computer. »
I checked that the service is running, and a process is running in the Task Manager.
I have downloaded and run Microsoft Fix, it is said that it fixed the problem, but didn't.
I cloned my old drive and installed my new drive in my laptop. It seems that there is no update history transferred when cloning, there is no history of updates now.
