After playing the game the Sims 2, impossible to shut down the computer, get black screen

Hi all

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, and I recently installed the Sims 2 DVD Edition. The game itself works very well. He's not planting or lag or cause my computer is turned off. I can walk much and create characters; what I noticed is that some of the sound effects play, which is minimal.
However, after playing the game and I'm going to shut my computer down, the screen just goes black and the computer stays on. The processor will run nothing will work. The computer just stays, but the screen remains black. He doesn't even go to the "shutting down" screen or anything. Straight black. I let it stay like that for 15 minutes just to see if maybe, it was just to take some time, but the computer still shuts.
It normally stops if I do not play Sims 2.
Original title: Sims 2 causing my computer does not shut down properly?
I think I have Directx 11, because when I installed my graphics (ATI Raedon 7770) it updated automatically to that. I play other games like Skyrim here, which does not cause this weird close the thing. I installed the patch from EA Games for the game itself, as well.
Help would be appreciated, because I'd really like to be able to play Sims 2! If one of the expansion packs resolves that it be so. Anything to solve this problem!
Thank you.

Hello

According to the Windows Compatibility Center, the Sims 2 game is not compatible with Windows 7.

http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/details.aspx?type=software&p=the%20Sims%202&v=EA&UID=1&l=en&pf=0&PI=0&s=Sims%202&OS=32-bit

Method 1:

I suggest you to install the program in compatibility mode and check if the problem persists.

Please visit the sites below:

To uninstall a program:

Hi, a question for the tech support.

My solution ended up having to remove a faulty RAM stick. Fortunately, I had two, one of whom was a 2 GB key and that went wrong was 1 GB. Whenever this faulty stick has been in the laptop, the system wouldn't start.

The problem is now resolved after removing the defective RAM 1 GB stick.

In any case, I was wondering on a stick of RAM that turns bad in this way.

First question is, how are they just bad like that?

Second question, can they be fixed all or none of the trash can right RAM sticks after that?

    Hello feroxlara,

I see that you have any questions about RAM, is that correct?

The answer to your first question is that there are several things that can cause a memory stick to stop working or become defective. It may be overheating, overvoltage, problems with the RAM itself, problems with the slot in the motherboard memory is underway and many more. It is a component which may fail on any system.

As far as being able to set the memory for the average person it is not likely, here is a link to an article on the repair of RAM. He explains what would be necessary to fix a memory module and in most cases, it is easier to buy a new stick of RAM.

  • Start the computer to black screen and the computer runs hot

    original title: sick Vista laptop

My daughter portable computer began acting strangely very yesterday.

Once connected, I get a black screen and a cursor.  The system seems to work at full speed, because I can hear the fan, and it runs very hot.  No matter how long it sits, the desktop does not appear.

I can use Ctrl-alt-del to display the Task Manager.  The list of processes is limited to the process of the current user, and none of them use important CPU. If I click on 'See the process for all users', taskmanager freezes and I have to disconnect to get rid of him.

Using the Task Manager, I can kill the process Explorer and then start it again, date at which I get my desktop.  However, it is still running hot and noisy.  With the help of SysInternals ProcessExplorer, there is no process using any important CPU.  Most of the time CPU is reported as inactive.

I don't know what to think.  A boot loader took over the system?  A hardware problem?  OS corrupted files?

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    Can you help me please?

    elina_j,

It seems that your iTunes software seems to be stop unexpectedly when you play the music back after about 30 seconds or more. First, I would check to see if there are errors on the disc that need repair:

Disk utility (El Capitan): a disc repair

Once the repair and verification done go ahead and test the issue again. If that fixes it, then great! If this is not the case, however, I would then remove third-party plug-ins that may interfere with the operation of iTunes:

    Test with iTunes plug-ins removed.

    • Quit iTunes.
    • Mac OS X:
      • ~/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins(The "~" represents your home folder)
      • /Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins
    • If all the files in this folder, move it to the desktop temporarily.
    • Open iTunes and test to see if the problem is resolved. If so, you can leave these plug-ins removed iTunes. If you want to reuse these iTunes plug-ins, check with the supplier of iTunes plug-ins to see if updates are available.

From: iTunes: may crash when you plug in the iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

If the problem is still there after removing the plugins or there is none to remove, then you must then create a new library, add content to it and see if the problem persists it:

Open a different iTunes library file or create a

    Mac

    1. If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
    2. Hold down the Option key when you open iTunes.
    3. You will see a message that says choose iTunes library. Depending on what you want to do, choose Create or choose library.

Now if the problem is still not resolved then you can create a new user admin on your computer and test it there too well?

OS X El Capitan: set up users on your Mac.

    Add a user

    1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click users and groups.

    2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

    3. Click on the button Add below the list of users.

    4. On the pop-up menu click new account, and then choose a user type.

    • Administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install applications, and change the settings. The new user that you create when you set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones and convert standard users to administrators. Don't set up the automatic connection to an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and access with administrator privileges. To secure your Mac, don't share administrator names and passwords.

  • Enter a display name for the new user. An account name is automatically generated. To use a different account name, enter it now, you can't change it later.

  • Enter a password for the user, and then enter again to verify. Using an index of password is recommended to help the user remember the password.

  • Click on create user.

  • The result of the new user will determine what we then so let us know how it goes! Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

After installing the latest updates, my screen on large icons, screen too large for my moniter the only way of difficulty was to uninstall updates.

Sounds like something in the update causes a conflict with your video driver or change the resolution settings.

The first thing to do to solve the problem is to try to install each of the updates one at a time instead of let Windows Update do several updates together.  If you're lucky, the problem can not ride again.  If so, you'll know at least update is the cause of the problem.

If the problem persists, try right click on an empty area of your desktop and select properties to open the display properties dialog box.  Select the settings tab.  Look to see if the screen is correctly identified and if the resolution seems correct.  If you spot something wrong, change to the correct setting.  If everything looks correct, you can try to change the resolution to see if that can solve the problem.

You can also check the website of the manufacturer of your graphics card to see if they have an updated display driver.  Updates of the operating system only sometimes work correctly if you have the latest version of the drivers for the various components.

If all else fails, you can uninstall the update one that is causing the problem and mark do not show you this update again in Windows updates.   Doing so will be considered a last resort - especially if the update in question is one of the security updates.

    Original title: user profile

My administrator user profile does not work properly, but I have a user profile that has activated the parental control that worked well for about a year and yesterday when this user logs on the desktop comes up, but after that the computer does not respond when that user tries to do anything. There are actually turns off the computer with the power button.  I ran a virus scan and spyware scan in my user admin profile and he has not found anything.  I don't know what to check.

    Hello rhunter15,

There may be a program to interfere with Parental controls so that we can try a few things to see if we can determine the application or program that is causing problems.

First of all, we run System File Checker to see if you have a corrupt file system.

    • Click Start
    • Click on all programs
    • Click Accessories, and then right-click on the command prompt.
    • Select the Security tab and choose "Run as Administrator"
    • Click on command prompt
    • Type SFC/scannow.

It will scan and repair any damaged operating system files.

To determine if there is a program because of a conflict, we recommend that you perform a "clean boot" of the computer. A clean boot is designed to disable programs and services in the background as much as possible. This helps determine which service or program can be the cause of the problem.  For more information about how to perform a clean boot for troubleshooting, click the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

KB 929135 - how to solve a problem of performaing a clean boot in Windows Vista.

Once you have finished the clean boot, check again and see if you get the error of parental control.

    Hi K - Ann,

Thank you for the above information.

I followed you instruction to back up the registry keys, but when I followed step number 7. Navigate to the location and look for the name of the file with the .reg extension and click Open, the message of answers that I received from the registry editor has been as follows: -.

Impossible to import C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\My Documents\My Backup\Backup260910.reg of register: not all data was successfully written to the registry.  Some keys are open by the system or my other processes.

So I closed my computer and restarted. I then followed your instructions again (this time save the backup of the registry to a member in the same library, called "Backup260910bkup"

Yet once, when I followed the number of the step 7. Navigate to the location and look for the name of the file with the .reg extension and click Open, the message of answers that I received from the registry editor has been as follows: -.

Impossible to import C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\My Documents\My Backup\Backup260910bkup.reg of register: not all data was successfully written to the registry.  Some keys are open by the system or my other processes.

Can you tell me what I need to do to work around this problem of backup of the registry?

I look forward to receiving your response.

    Thank you

    hchentanshankar,

    Welcome to the community.

I am sorry to read that you are experiencing this issue.  The battery is likely guilty, but you should check to see if there are any problems with the laptop or AC adapter / CC before you rush out and replace the battery.

I would start by checking the bios, boot the system by pressing F2 to enter the bios, you can also press F12 and select the bios menu.  Once in the bios look for the option for AC adapter warnings, if they are disabled they can and save the changes. If there is a problem with the adapter, you should start getting errors on the adapter.

If the adapter seems well, disconnect the battery from the system and turn off the laptop.  Wait an hour or two and then replace the battery and restart the system and see if you continue to get the message.   If you can run the laptop on battery only to leave the battery completely and then load it again and see if the problem returns.

I know that this may not be possible before you buy a new battery but if possible try a power adapter and the battery and see if the problem persists.  In this way, you can know if the problem follows the laptop battery or the AC adapter.

Please let me know what you find.
