After that Windows Update installation, some programs fail to open but take up to 25% of the CPU usage

Hi I have a HP Probook 6470 b. After installation of the latest series of Windows updates my laptop fails to open the common programs such as Word 2010, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Internet Explorer 11. Other programs such as Excel 2010 and Chrome are not affected. Programs not just open, but on the control task manager, they are each taking up 25% CPU, which is the set of core.

Strangely, on a machine identical to the work occurs the same problem but on a desktop computer, I can't reproduce the problem. With my laptop I use system restore and the problem goes away until Windows Update to run again - there are quite a few updates and I can't identify what the source of the problem.

Everyone knows about this problem?

Hello. In the end, I managed to get out. It was Microsoft EMET that was causing problems. Ultimately I unchecked all boxes and now all my programs work correctly. Strangely Chrome and Excel have been unchecked already which is the reason for which they worked.

  • Not able to boot after that windows update, just trying to install the number 3 setting 3, and then restart the computer. With the help of Windows Vista SP2

Friday morning I wasn't able to boot my computer more. When I start my computer it won't seek to set a parameter nr 3 of 3. And then it restarts again. My computer tried to install some windows update settings the day before with no success. I Don t remember what it was. I got Vista SP2

The same problem happends to my computer from friends four days, after she start a windows update installation. But it has solved its problem by using the Windows installation CD and use the repair tool.

For me, my Windows installation CD I got from Dell does not work. Not the tool repair or startreparation. And I have no reference system to return.

What should I do? I don't want to reinstall windows again, I have a lot of information on the computer I need to.

All the world has noticed this problem?

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    See you soon.

If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:

As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.

As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista repair disc.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

There is not a disk of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

If the ISP above Mathods to solve your problems, save your data using one of the methods below, and then reinstall Windows:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm

Download the Vista software from the link above.

After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.

Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.

Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.

Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.

When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.

Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.

Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).

  • Satellite L25 - after that Windows update is unable to use the Wi - Fi button

I have a S-1193 Satellite L25, caught a virus, and after a windows update, cannot use wi - fi on the front button.

What I have to do is disable the adapter, turn it on, then re-boot.
If I turned off the computer, I di everything again.

This will make the button work? Or is there a setting that is always on?

    Hello

    > after a windows update, cannot use wi - fi on the front button
Do you mean the button that launches Internet Explorer?

According to your message the laptop doesn't connect to the WLan automatically and you will need to connect it manual to get the job of WLan.
    Is this right?

I put t know how you have connected the laptop to your router, but usually, if you own Windows WLan zero configuration then you should make sure that the parameters to a called + connect when this network is in range. +

  • CPU ankles 95-99% stuck on svchost.exe after that Windows update Nov 12 patches to not install

Automatic update of Windows was put on 'On' on the morning of November 13, 2013, when I received the notice of Microsoft system tray that updates of Windows patches were ready to be installed on my computer (XP sp3, IE8, MSE).

Updates proceeds to installation with the updated bars before the normal close.

Updates is apparently blocked at the first update. I let it run for about 15 minutes before I made a hard stop. I thought that maybe I had lost to the Internet because the update seemed stuck on the first and took too much time, it seemed.

Next start, computer slows almost stopped after a few minutes.

Guilty is svchost.exe SYSTEM alternating between 95 and 99% of my system resources. I turn it off and computer returned to normal.

Has done research on the web, stop automatic updates and processor svchost problem disappeared, unless I went to Microsoft updates and svchost.exe Web page re - would seem to consume almost all of the CPU resources while bars update Microsoft constantly scanned my system for the latest upgrades necessary.

Spending a day to try various fixes posted on the internet. A Microsoft Fixit said that he there had errors in the update and fixed all but one saying registration number was bad (said he couldn't fix that). Despite everything, still the same problem.

On the same day, an error was unable to update the definitions of virus on MSE, but for some reason, the next day (14) updated crossed.

Update: some progress: I leave svchost cogitate on the webpage update from Ms. After about 1/2 hour, the updated hotfix list showed. I tried to install it, but not updates managed to install. I am currently re - try, as suggested on the Web page.

Also tried the command "net stop" method mentioned in several places, as a tool of Malewarebytes Anti-Root running. Nothing.

Tried the fix for IE8 security as suggested, nothing.

Tried system restore, but I must have something wrongly configured with it because it was not able to restore any earlier date, I took. Bad luck.

Never had a big problem with my set-up in all the years I've been running XP sp3, until now.

Next thing I'll try is Park on the side of Windows Update for an hour or two, with the idea that maybe my processor is in need of more time to digest something.

I see that others have had this problem, but not necessarily with patch release on November 12.

UPDATE: some progress, perhaps. 1/2 hour parked page update of Windows, with SVChost churning away, and I got a list of patches. I tried to install, but all of them failed to install. I try a re - install, as suggested.

Let me propose a summary of how to fix the MSE / Windows Update problem and the svchost problem:

1st thing to do is to disable the automatic updates window. This will keep your computer against svchost.exe freeze for now.

2nd, follow the instructions in Xircal to check that you have "BITS" listed in your list of "services". Correct it if not.

3rd, IE remove it from your list of programs, and then reinstall it, making your first update of the IE rollup, as suggested previously.

That he "should" do and you can activate the automatic updates on svchost.exe should return to normal. Proceed with the update of Windows and MSE as usual.

  • XP hangs on reboot after download Windows Update & Installation

Last Friday (September 16) after installing an automatic download of Windows Update (7 files) on my XP machine - SP3 OS, the restart procedure has begun to restart but "hung" just before the blue 'Welcome' screen, leaving a black screen with the cursor in the centre (cursor remains active). I suspect that a Windows or the files needed to move forward have been corrupted as a check of the HARD drive via another computer reports no problem with the drive.

Finally I used the system provided by the OEM recovery CD to get the machine to boot into Windows, and although all the files that are on my "C" drive are still present, the Windows installation is actually a 'new' version of XP where any of my programs are available. In the root directory, there is now a second WINDOWS folder with the label "WINDOWS.0" that is clearly the source of the software used to initiate the Windows. My questions are:

    1. is there a procedure to "transpose" the old Windows installation in the new facility thus effectively regain its original configuration and my PC?... or

    2. I have to re - install all my software from scratch?

    3. If I have to can start from scratch with my programs I at least transfer my documents and settings (including emails) of the 'old' facility to the new?

    P. S.

I know there is a 'Settings Transfer Wizard"but I think understand that it must be 'run' on a working version of the old installation of Windows first to generate the"file transfer"... it's clearly something that I'm unable to do.

    As an afterthought:

Does anyone have any suggestions why or files could been corrupted because replace this (or these) would probably be the most elegant way to resurrect my machine to its original state?

1 # because you used the recovery CD to do a factory reset, all your old data is lost.

    Hi BarbaraWillis,

    · What is the number and the model of the computer?

1 check the updates of Windows have been installed on the computer and also if any update could not be installed. Follow the steps for the same:

    a. Click Start, click all programs and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.

    b. on the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click on view update history. A window opens that displays the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.

    (c) in the status column of this window, find the failed to install update and then click on the red X.

    (d) a new window opens that displays the installation error code.

    2. also check any exact error message or the error code is listed in the event viewer: how to view and manage the event logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427

  • After that windows update computer now hangs at the login screen, no error message, just restarts.

I have tried safe mode, does the same thing; tried to use the Windows Vista disc to do a repair, no luck; also I tried restoring the system (from disk), no restore points however.
The problem appeared after restarting the computer during the night.  The problem began to be able to connect, but the screen would go blank with just a pointer (KSOD).  Has tried some of the suggestions on this problem, including by eliminating sys newspapers, which did not work as well as reinstalling the video driver, with no luck.  Finally tried a system restore, returned 1 week (before the windows updates).  Now, the computer becomes just the login screen sits there for about 5-10 seconds then restarts immediately.

I just had this happen to my laptop that has no external references. This is a new (September 09) ASUS K50ij with Vista 64-bit installed. I bought the Win 7 OS to replace, but have been waiting for the time to play with it... Last Monday, the update itself and invited to restart so I have done what I was busy with and enabled him to restart which is the only thing to do now... restart, the blue screen for a nano-second, then restart... etc. Same problem with safe mode and safe mode with networking, or with the box... anyway, someone very smart recommended that I use another computer (Fortunately, I have several) to download free Imgburn (which works easily), then get Ubuntu (Linux Operating System free download) burn image from the Ubuntu disc, put the disc in the drive of the computer crashed (there is a little hole next to the button you) can insert in a safety pin to release the door when the power is off) change the setting in the BIOS of the computer has crashed by restarting and pressing F2 until you get the menu BIOS... go to the start menu and choose Start from the CD, and then press ENTER. When the computer starts, it will see the drive and go to a menu to select the language, then next choice is "try Ubuntu without making any changes to the computer. It will boot the disk and allow you to view and copy ALL your files off the power on an external drive, which is what I did... including my Outlook .pst files that include all my saved emails my calendar and contacts, etc! WOOHOO! has got all my photos, documents, etc. The only thing that I didn't know how to get is my favorite... How to enter in the browser from another computer.

If after this, an hour or more than make sure I got all the important data... I decided to see if anyone had a solution to this problem just fixing... I probably won't update again because Microsoft sends them and offers no solutions to the problems they have caused and nobody pays me for all the time I've lost get to get my stuff back and also to solve the problem they have caused. A update on my other laptop Win 7 zapped my outlook program and even reinstall it didn't solve this problem, even more work to do there, but looking in the files using Ubuntu's File Explorer, I found a hidden file that is used to repair the files .pst outlook called scanpst, or something that nearby.

In any case, if someone has a solution to uninstall the recent update or to determine how it corrupted my user profile (which is the general consensus) please let me know.
Thank you and good luck to you!

  • After that windows update, the resolution of my screen has been reduced.

I can't return address. Re-installation of software has failed. What should do?

Use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem.  To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore.  Click on the box that says show more restore points.

Moreover, if you install option via Windows update drivers, that's how many people enter in this kind of situation.  You only need to update the drivers from the website of the manufacturer of your computer, and then only when you have a problem to solve.

I hope this helps.  Good luck.

I found KB981957 to be the culprit on that I worked on a system of XP SP3.  With this update installed, I get an error C000021A Service Control Manager BSOD.  I have manually uninstalled this update by using the Recovery Console and then used Windows Update through IE and deselected this update.  All the other updates installed correctly and the system starts properly.  I would like to know why this update is causing this problem.  Anyone with the same problem?

It reminds me of a similar situation earlier this year with BSOD KB991765.  The cause of the BSOD is a virus that has infected system driver files.  Once clean, the installation worked very well.  I've done many scans on this system and have not yet found any viruses.

  • InDesign CC2014 hangs after that windows update 8.1

    Hi all!

We have 4 cases of it right now.

InDesign starts very well. While users modify files, they will sporadically get a crash message saying "the network connection has been lost in the file [filepath] or the file has been modified by another process." Users edit the Indesign files off of a file share. We moved the sharing of files between servers and the problem persists.

Before the 8.1 update when computers were just Windows 8, it has crashed.

When the first PC installed upgrading 8.1, before I knew it was 8.1 that caused the problems, I went through a bunch of stuff to try to identify the problem.

    -Driver updates

    -Reset the Indesign preferences

    -Launch Indesign as an administrator

    -New user profile

    -Reinstall indesign

    -Reinstall CC & indesign

-New Windows installation 8.1 & CC & Indesign

-Many tests on the network switches

    -The parameters on file shares

-Movement of the share between servers.

The issue began to spread among the computers and we realized that the windows 8.1 update was causing accidents. We currently have 4 computers that were 100% fine before the windows 8.1 update and now break 3 - 4 times a day if you change files. The same error message.

I read that Windows 8.1 should be compatible with InDesign CC 2014 and am at a loss for what could happen.

    Everyone knows this?

    Thanks in advance!

I described the fix for this in this thread, while collaborating with someone else having a similar problem
