I have a S-1193 Satellite L25, caught a virus, and after a windows update, cannot use wi - fi on the front button.
What I have to do is disable the adapter, turn it on, then re-boot.
If I turned off the computer, I di everything again.This will make the button work? Or is there a setting that is always on?
Hello
> after a windows update, cannot use wi - fi on the front button
Do you mean the button that launches Internet Explorer?According to your message the laptop doesn't connect to the WLan automatically and you will need to connect it manual to get the job of WLan.
Is this right?I put t know how you have connected the laptop to your router, but usually, if you own Windows WLan zero configuration then you should make sure that the parameters to a called + connect when this network is in range. +

Friday morning I wasn't able to boot my computer more. When I start my computer it won't seek to set a parameter nr 3 of 3. And then it restarts again. My computer tried to install some windows update settings the day before with no success. I Don t remember what it was. I got Vista SP2
The same problem happends to my computer from friends four days, after she start a windows update installation. But it has solved its problem by using the Windows installation CD and use the repair tool.
For me, my Windows installation CD I got from Dell does not work. Not the tool repair or startreparation. And I have no reference system to return.
What should I do? I don't want to reinstall windows again, I have a lot of information on the computer I need to.
All the world has noticed this problem?
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
See you soon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the link provided and make a bootdisk of it.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista repair disc.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
There is not a disk of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~If the ISP above Mathods to solve your problems, save your data using one of the methods below, and then reinstall Windows:
1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.
2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.
3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:
http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html
Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
Download the Vista software from the link above.
After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1 in the boot order.
Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
See you soon.
I have tried safe mode, does the same thing; tried to use the Windows Vista disc to do a repair, no luck; also I tried restoring the system (from disk), no restore points however.
The problem appeared after restarting the computer during the night. The problem began to be able to connect, but the screen would go blank with just a pointer (KSOD). Has tried some of the suggestions on this problem, including by eliminating sys newspapers, which did not work as well as reinstalling the video driver, with no luck. Finally tried a system restore, returned 1 week (before the windows updates). Now, the computer becomes just the login screen sits there for about 5-10 seconds then restarts immediately.I just had this happen to my laptop that has no external references. This is a new (September 09) ASUS K50ij with Vista 64-bit installed. I bought the Win 7 OS to replace, but have been waiting for the time to play with it... Last Monday, the update itself and invited to restart so I have done what I was busy with and enabled him to restart which is the only thing to do now... restart, the blue screen for a nano-second, then restart... etc. Same problem with safe mode and safe mode with networking, or with the box... anyway, someone very smart recommended that I use another computer (Fortunately, I have several) to download free Imgburn (which works easily), then get Ubuntu (Linux Operating System free download) burn image from the Ubuntu disc, put the disc in the drive of the computer crashed (there is a little hole next to the button you) can insert in a safety pin to release the door when the power is off) change the setting in the BIOS of the computer has crashed by restarting and pressing F2 until you get the menu BIOS... go to the start menu and choose Start from the CD, and then press ENTER. When the computer starts, it will see the drive and go to a menu to select the language, then next choice is "try Ubuntu without making any changes to the computer. It will boot the disk and allow you to view and copy ALL your files off the power on an external drive, which is what I did... including my Outlook .pst files that include all my saved emails my calendar and contacts, etc! WOOHOO! has got all my photos, documents, etc. The only thing that I didn't know how to get is my favorite... How to enter in the browser from another computer.
If after this, an hour or more than make sure I got all the important data... I decided to see if anyone had a solution to this problem just fixing... I probably won't update again because Microsoft sends them and offers no solutions to the problems they have caused and nobody pays me for all the time I've lost get to get my stuff back and also to solve the problem they have caused. A update on my other laptop Win 7 zapped my outlook program and even reinstall it didn't solve this problem, even more work to do there, but looking in the files using Ubuntu's File Explorer, I found a hidden file that is used to repair the files .pst outlook called scanpst, or something that nearby.
In any case, if someone has a solution to uninstall the recent update or to determine how it corrupted my user profile (which is the general consensus) please let me know.
Thank you and good luck to you! -
I was trying to set up a homegroup on my main computer, but on the second computer, I never had the opportunity to join the homegroup. I'm sure that I have everything set up properly, but I can't get the second computer to join.
I have a switch that my internet runs and a cat cable goes to each computer. Each computer can access the internet without any problem, but none appear in other network list. They have the same name of working group, I just can't understand it. I use Windows Firewall.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe this can help.----------------------
Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.
Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.
Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.
Public share = network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.
Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions
General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .------------------------------
If your network consists only of Win 7 and you want a simple network, use it.
In the properties
Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.
When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).
* Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.
* Note . There must be specific users. All means all users who already have an account now as users. This does not mean everyone who feel they would like to connect.
I am running Windows 7 and noticed that Windows updates did not work. The parameters are defined for the update every day. When I went to update manually returned an error WindowsUpdate_80070017. MSFT site was no help. Any recommendations?
Since neither updates Jan - 10 have installed, I'm going to hand you Support MS in the hope that they can resolve the problem. See below.
That being said, is an interpretation of the 80070017 - cyclic redundancy check error "a device attached to the system does not work," which suggests that a hardware problem might be the cause of the error (although I must say that it is a very low possibility in this case).
Good luck!
Can someone tell me how I can access the internet on my laptop to someone else's House?
I want to take my computer on a visit, I can access the internet at home someone else with their supplier?
Hi Huw,
If it is a WIFI connection and they provide the access codes and Setup appropriate (and maybe even if they are not depending on how they are configured), it should be no problem. You will probably need to create a new connection to connect to their network and possibly another new connection to connect to internet (if they are separated). I created portable work of my wife to work from home in less than 5 minutes.
If you need to connect with a cable, then you need a cable and they need a way to connect to their network or their internet connection or even a computer connected to the internet connection can be used by ICS to give you access (even once, after you have setup the proper connections and codes installation).
The following may or may not be of help (although designed for Vista, you can get the general idea on their part and XP and W7will be similar and you should be able to work out the differences - if not, look how configure wireless internet access in "The BONES" of aid):
Here is a tutorial on how to set up a home network (including a wireless)-click on additional links for more information that may be helpful: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Setting-up-a-home-network.
Here is an article on troubleshooting network connections wireless (with links): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-network-connection-problems.
Here's a long guide on wireless internet connections in Vista: http://www.techwarelabs.com/guides/misc_mod/vistaconnection/.
Here is an article on how to set up wireless internet in Vista: http://www.clpgh.org/usingthelibrary/technology/wireless/WindowsVista.pdf
The truth is it is relatively easy and is done all the time by many people. Think about all the people with laptops who take their origin and work at the same time and maybe even at Starbucks.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
