Original title: this is the message I get:

"When I type chkdsk/f to the command prompt it tells me that it cannot run while windows is open and asks if I want it to work when I reboot. I say Yes and restart and nothing happens. What I am doing wrong?
Hello
1. when exactly you get this error message?
2. don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.
From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".

Good afternoon:
Have recently been spotted by Windows XP Pro disk space on my C drive is low. I reinstalled all the obvious large files (e.g., photos) on an external hard drive. I have drilled down into individual files on the C drive to ensure other potential consumers of space. Found the folder that can be the source.
Last year, I converted from Outlook Express (OE) for Outlook. At this point, I rode on my e-mail and the e-mail folders in Outlook.
I found a file in the following location that seems to contain the OE files. I would like to know if the removal of these files of OE (~8.5 GB) impact my Outlook folder/mail e-mail before I remove them.
The location is: C:/Documents and Settings/rjhirsch (me) / Local Settings/Application Data / identities / {31391EF3-B3AC-4F12-94D8-DC2DA45E9526} / Microsoft/Outlook Express.
The folder contains about 8.5 GB of e-mail to OE folders more of them are dated July/August 2010.
It is safe to assume that when I converted originally these OE e-mail/folders over to Outlook - that Outlook has caught up - and it's OK to delete these files?
Thanks for your help.
Cheers.
Rick
If you do not use OE, then Yes. It will not affect Outlook at all. Open the database messages OE, the folder that you have described, and remove all the dbx files. If you need OE once again, when you open OE, it creates new files dbx for all default folders such as Inbox, sent, etc. items.

Windows.Old does not list the "Documents and Settings".
I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my main hard drive of workstations. I looked online and saw a lot of messages on many sites saying that all my old documents of the previous version of Windows (XP that wouldn't start) should be available in the Windows.old folder, in a subfolder called Documents and Settings. The only folders that are weProgram Files and Windows. I tried to take possession of the entire record and made sure that Windows displays the hidden files and folders. My username has the administrator capabilities. I'mREALLY hoping that the files are not entirely lost. All that I'm missing?
Hello
Documents and settings folder must exist inside the windows.old. Check if the file is hidden and also check the Recycle Bin folder is deleted by mistake.
Or you can also use windows search to search for any document in this folder to track the location of the folder.I hope this helps.Thank you, and in what concerns:

Where can I find the Documents and Settings folder or the folder on Vista?
I need to find a Real Player file file so I can delete it, but am unable to find the floder Documents and Settings. I need to delete a file called treestate.dat but am unable to find... Help, please!
In Windows Vista user profiles
In Windows XP, 2000, 2003, user profiles are stored in c:\Documents and Settings. In Windows Vista, the profiles are now stored in c:\Users. You will see a folder c:\Documents and Settings in Windows Explorer in Vista, but you will also notice the shortcut icon on the folder, and you will not be able to access this folder. c:\Documents and Settings is now a junction Point. You can use the random dir command to see where c:\Documents and Settings point to or use the table below.
The following table lists the old profile path and the new path under Windows Vista.
Old path
New path
\Documents and Settings
\Users
\Documents and Settings\Default User or
%LogonServer%\NETLOGON\Default user\USERS\DEFAULT or
%LogonServer%\NETLOGON\Default\Documents and Settings\
\My Documents \Users\
\Documents \Documents and Settings\
\My Documents\My photos \Users\
\Pictures \Documents and Settings\
\My Documents\My Music \Users\
\Music \Documents and Settings\
\Favorites \Users\
\Favorites N/A
\Users\
\Contacts N/A

personal N/A
\Users\
\SavedGames \Documents and Settings\
Change Data \Users\
\AppData\Roaming \Documents and Settings\
Settings\Application Data \Users\
\AppData\Local \Documents and Settings\
\Start Menu \Users\

\Users\Public
\Documents and Settings\All Users Menu
\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu
\Documents and Settings\All Users\Bureau
\Users\Public\Desktop
Records to take note of here are the folders in the path of all users. Many legacy applications that use outdated methods to solve the system folders, will solve the railways under C:\ProgramData when looking for common places. For example, the joint office can be resolved as C:\ProgramData\Desktop, however; This is actually a point of junction for C:\ProgramData\Users\Public\Desktop. A random entry in the C:\ProgramData folder dir reveals the following Junction Points:

\Users\Public\Documents

How to redirect the user account to the correct folder in Documents and Settings?
Under XP. One of the user accounts seems to have been directed to the wrong user folder (the one that has been somehow created) in Documents and Settings. Start menu, My Documents, etc are now empty, but they used to be OK. The (desired) exact content is always in a folder user, but it is apparently not accessed. I looked and looked and can't find how to reset the pointer (for example, identify the correct folder for that user). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

is it safe to delete the files in c:/documents and settings/user/recent

Yes, it is completely safe to remove them because they are just useless shortcuts - is useful if you frequently use "Recent Documents" on the Start Menu.

I have 2 files in Windows 7 and they appear almost the same. One is c:\documents and settings\name\Mydocuments and the other is c:\users\name\MyDocuments. Can I move all the files the c:\users folder and then delete the folder c:\documents and settings?
They are the same file.
C:\Documents and Settings\ is an alias used to ensure the compatibility of older programs.
This name is hidden if you are using the default options in the Folder Options > view. Unchecking "Hide protected operating system files" causes the file name to become visible.

I tried to reload the office and it still does not work.HelpDocuments and settings are still there, I can tell because you can log in.
Uninstall, and then reinstall Office.
PS, Documents and Settings is a Windows XP name. 'S called it users in Vista and later versions.

After the upgrade of Camera Raw 9.1 all cases and objectives profiles have disappeared. How to make a comeback? My camera and lens where in there before and worked fine.
You can see a screenshot of the area of optical Correction to ACR, the list of the brand expanded?
The ACR and DNG Converter store their profiles in the same folder. If you have recently uninstalled the DNG Converter, maybe he deleted all of the profiles? You could put them back by reinstalling the DNG Converter 9.1, which is available on the Adobe updates page:

I recently had a problem with the virus 'Restore Windows'. I was able to get rid of it with Malwarebytes antivirus scanner, but when I turn on my computer I get this error message.Cannot create the folder C:\Documents and Settings\ of Settings\Marlon\Local Application BVRP Software\NetWaiting\MoHlog.txt
I'm no expert, but I feel that my C drive disappeared, or at least has been hidden. My documents, pictures and music files are all empty. My programs (start > all programs) have been removed and deleted the shortcuts on the desktop. When I go to my computer, my personal and shared document files are not accessible. Under the description it says that they are hidden. My local disk (c) is also empty, but there is still very little space which suggests that programs and files have not been deleted. Is it possible to recover my files?Thank youHello
MoHlog.txt file is related to the software of modem on the computer, you can uninstall and reinsta it check if it works.
Also scan your computer for any infection by virus still present on the computer using any scanner online.
You can also try the system restore to the point before that the computer has been infected by the virus and check if it helps.
Good luck!
