After update El Capitan, no splash screen doesn't sound...

Dear Sir

My name is Bert and I have the following problem:

My sisters has a macbook mid of 2012 Pro, bought in October 2014. She did the update of El Capitan on the 20th of December and when she wants to use his macbook now, all she gets is a sound that marks his pc's start-up work but the remains of screen black-ish (monitor definitely works). She gets no slider or whatever. She used the option of auto restart of the upgrade, but that did not work as expected. When she was the problem.

I don't think she has a back-up but would like to keep her precious homework.

My other sister succesfully installed El Capitan on his macbook pro (2015) and has no problem.

I'm not an expert on macbooks and also not a rocketscientist. If it is easily solveable I can handle. (keypressing-easy steps for example)

Thanks for your time, my sister would be forever grateful!

Bert

  • Are displayed solutions / suggestions for action to fix a breakdown "upgrade library" for the mail after update El Capitan 10.11.2 accurate and useful?

After five days of reading and discussion of the best way to go beyond the grip that appeared during the upgrade of El Capitan 10.10.1 to 10.10.2,"limited that I have no evidence that the steps provided and online by Apple engineers are the real solution.

System and the details of the hardware:

Start of OS: El Capitan 10.11.1

Downloaded from Apple and installed update: El Capitan 10.11.2

Computer: Power Book Pro, early 2011; 15-inch display

    Memory: 8 GB

The window "Upgrade library" appeared immediately after the installation of the new operating system (. 2) and to try to use the Mail. The progress bar seems to stall and all messaging functions becomes unavailable. Precious data backed up 10 days before were not available on the computer. Apple consultants advised against the use of Time Machine to reinstall a backup Time Machine 10 - day old.

Councillors, local and by phone from Apple support, recommended repeatedly running time-consuming terminal and orders of OS that would be to check and fix permissions.

The activity of "Upgrade library" report Mail appeared repeatedly stalled as it was blocked from the outset.

Finally, despite the appearance of an interim report to a standstill, I authorized the computer to continue working - even if the same apparent have absolutely no interim report - again - saw on the screen. I left the computer in precisely this configuration for five hours. The progress report on screen disappeared. I restarted the computer and Mail worked now, my data have been recovered.

There is no evidence of this challenging experience that change the permissions of the home and the user had no impact. It is conceivable that had I was sick from the start, has allowed the computer to work (while the window of progress reported no progress) for five consecutive hours, the conversion of my mail e-mail data V 2 Mail V 3 (what was going on behind the scenes) could have taken place with zero assistance of a technician or the forums.

Conclusion: I appreciate the hand holding, (perhaps useless) preparation of 'clean' permissions, expertise, training of experienced Apple staff who guided me through the steps of permissions, but there is no evidence of my experience that the stall, I knew was a permissions problem. It is quite possible, based on what I've seen, that just after leaving the computer running his own for five hours, or even overnight, perhaps gave the same result.

Apple experts suggest that you reset the permissions. I suggest cancelling the computer for an evening, ensuring that energy preferences are set to allow the computer to work constantly without interruption, could give the same result. If the reset of the House / permissions for the user of the BONE and the Terminal are proven steps until the computer crunching to a conclusion, which is not obvious in my experience. It is possible from what I saw just the computer to perform its functions - despite the progress apparently stuck screen which does not indicate that progress - could be a simpler solution.

If the Apple experts or users know better, is a necessary first step to reset the permissions, I'd be interested to know that.

PS sorry my fault for typing in the opening graph: it should read 'when upgrading El Capitan 10.11.1 in 10.11.2' (No 10.10.1 to 10.10.2)

    PLEASE HELP

Go to start / computer / system properties and check what is installed.  If she says Windows7, I can't explain the message of Vista.  If it says that Vista, so maybe the disc is mislabeled and you have really installed Vista.

Although it shows like Win Vista, it is a problem of Windows7, because that's what you are trying to install (unless the drive is mislabeled - then you need to get a replacement drive).  Please repost your question in the Forums Windows7:http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/windows7 where Windows7 experts will be happy to help you.

  • Tecra A2: brightness F6 Fn + F7 does not work after updating the BIOS of the screen

Update bios to 1.40 VICTORY at end of January. Since the failure of keys F6 & F7 then to increase or decrease the brightness of the screen. Is it a coincidence or is that updating the bios the culprit! ??

    Hello

Usually, the update of the BIOS shouldn't have a bad influence on the drivers of Toshiba and the performance of the operating system.
There must be another reason the FN key down.

Initially, I would say to reinstall the common modules. Please check if this will help.

    Hi SheilaSoprano,

Please return this recent post to answer your question.

    Nick-

  • my computer won't past the splash screen. She claims system not found, check the cable. I have windows on my Acer laptop base.

After I press start, the splash screen appears briefly, then a black screen stating:
    Pre-boot EXecution Environment (PXE) v2.1
PXE - E61:Media test failure, check cable
PXE - MOF: exit ROM PXE.
    Operating system not found

    ·       Try to remove your hard drive and unplug the cable.  Then re - attach the cable and re - install the HDD.  Somehow, the cable may have come loose and it may solve the problem.  If this does not work, follow these steps:

Do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

If this does not resolve the problem, try the following:

To run the Bootrec.exe tool, you must start Windows RE. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. put the Windows Vista installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.

    2. press a key when you are prompted.

    3. Select a language, a time, a currency, a keyboard or an input method, and then click Next.

    4. click on repair your computer.

    5. click on the operating system that you want to repair, and then click Next.

    6. in the System Recovery Options dialog box, click command prompt.

    7. type Bootrec.exe, and then press ENTER.

    Note
If rebuilding the BCD does not resolve the startup problem, you can export and delete the BCD, and then run this option again. In doing so, you ensure that the BCD is completely rebuilt. To do this, type the following commands at the command prompt Windows RE:

    ·        bcdedit/export C:\BCD_Backup

    ·        c:

    ·        Boot CD

    ·        BCD attrib s h - r

    ·        Ren c:\boot\bcd BCD.old

    ·        Bootrec /RebuildBcd

Good luck and I hope this helps!

  • Windows 7 splash screen will not change after the vista update

After updating vista 32 bit to windows 7 32 bits, the splash screen will not change and he showed the vista boot. I read a lot of forum and the web page, but this solution:

«.. . the dummies and bad start screen for Windows 7 is due to the locale entry in the startup folder, which could not be set when editing or rebuilding the BCD. When the locale is not found, Windows boot loader doesn't know what local startup folder to look for the animated bootscreen. Thus, in order to fix the boot screen so that the splash screen can be re-established, restored or reset to original animated Windows 7 boot screen, just run one of the following commands at the prompt with administrator rights:

    bcdedit/set {current} settings regional en-US

    or

    BCDboot % WinDir % / l en

Change the US to the language version of Windows 7 installed, as ja - JP, en - us, es - ARE, pt - BR, zh - CN, zh - TW, fr - FR, fi - FI and etc.

Restart the computer after running the command to see the new boot UI (user interface) be used again. To check if the locale has been entered properly, just run the bceedit command in the command prompt that is running as an administrator... »

not solved my problem and also know for many users... after updating vista in windows 7 splash screen stay the same...

    Thanks for your help

  • Debug build hangs at the splash screen after Update Beta 4

Since the update of the fall of November, debug builds Dev Alpha hang at the splash screen.

By release notes, on the basis of known issues:

"AIR debugger cannot display the IP host dialog box when a debugging session is initiated. This can cause applications to hang at the splash screen and fail to launch. (240219, 242986) »

A workaround solution is given for people running Flash Builder, where you explicitly give the Debug IP address host instead

in relying on the auto-discovery.  I use the command line flow (don't have Flash Builder), and my debug builds that were operating out of now drop from September to the start screen. -DebugHost 169.254.0.2, I added to my blackberry-airpackager command and the debug builds always hang.  Release builds signed with my symbolic debugging normally launch, as they did before the update to the decline in November.

For people who use Flash Builder and who know how to look under the hood and find the blackberry-airpackager command that distributes when you do a debug version: to debug this launch is built successfully

on a Dev Alpha with the November update, can you please put the blackberry-airpackager command line which

    Flash Builder is running?

Got a reply from them and they confirmed that the dialogue will be back. Let's make it a part of our test cases in the future.

    See you soon,.

  • zBook 14 - cannot change the resolution of the screen after update

After I installed software updates the portable suggested to me, my screen resolution went suddenly from 1900 x 1200 at 1200 x 720 after reboot and it won't let me change it, not even to a lower resolution. I'm very frustrated, because I need the computer week next for visualization work and I really need the screen works well.

It doesn't let me change the resolution. Graphics and display drivers are up-to-date and functioning according to Device Manager. I did a system restore, but that just do everything worse although the resolution worked once again thing, I had to run a repair of the start several times before that my laptop would be starting another property again. This does not resolve the issue, given that the display drivers are not working properly (videos have been viewed very badly) and even after updating the computer won't start again, so I had made another system of recovery and now I'm to the point where I can not change the resolution and starting to be really frustrating. Also, (if it even starts) Windows is constantly freezing, forcing me to hard reboot.

Thanks for any help, that all the world can offer.

This looks like a lot of problems, you have there.

First thing I would say is to do a check of the basic material. Your laptop will be built Diagnostics the F2 button on the HP logo. The hard drive on a test extended (approximately 45 minutes - 2 hours) and the memory test. If these two go, consider downloading of UEFI diagnoses from the above drivers download section. In all honestly, I think this unnecessary step for most, it tells not usually defects that are already not obvious. But he should have a graphics test, if it will throw a failure even if it is faulty is another matter but when even, of a value of a test.
If all else fails, download on the phone for the HP warranty.

If anything fails, run the memory on memtest86 + for about 12 to 24 hours. Download you, it's free, burn it to a cd and the start of it. And it works simply, in case of error, you have a fault memory.

If anything fails on any diags, then nothing is most likely false, cool reimageries windows probably will solve the problem and its probably just a form of spyware or corruption of driver or something. Backup your data, reinstall a new copy of windows.

But in my experience, from doubtful, repairs etc... freezing randomly and other problems are often a sign of a failing hard drive. And diagnostic tests are not always 100% to pick up a failing drive. For the most part, but not always. So, if its still high reading after a reimage, review the reader always a potential source of the problem.

To the extent where it won't let you change the resolution? What you mean? As for the option is grayed out? Can you maybe post a screenshot and a screenshot of your device with the extended graphics card Manager.

  • Black screen after update of Microsoft Windows 7

After you install automatic updates on 04/16/10, Windows 7 is no longer load.  After the manufacturer splash screen (Dell), the screen goes black with the cursor at the top left.  Cannot start in safe mode.  Used the recovery disc for restore to the point just before the updates, but the problem persists.  I'm now restore to factory settings.  Most of the messages on this problem point to video drivers, but since I can't get a Safe Mode option, I don't think that the question is a video driver.  After that I restored, I fear that it will recreate the problem to apply updates.  No one knows exactly what causes this?  I do not like to disable automatic updates, but do not know what else to do.

    Lisa Dell,
If you already have a factory restore, then you can create a System Image first.  Then update all your hardware drivers.  It is better to go to the website of the hardware manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers.  Then run Windows Update, until no more updates only is presented.  Then install all the programs gone 3.
