BuggyG,
I saw that error and even if it says access denied it will actually save your changes. After you disable all move forward and apply then restart and see if it kept the changes. If it's not then I hope that you are able to borrow a disc it would in time look for resettlement. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

After you install the update of security KB2707511 when I try to open a ms - dos 16-bit program, I get the following error: "NTVDM. EXE has encountered a problem and needs to close. " Application does not start. I can run without error command.com. Uninstall KB2707511 in Control Panel, add & delete, the application works. Install KB2707511 error occurs.
I have a lot of customers running a 16-bit MS-DOS - program that receives the same error. It seems not to be a malware problem, as it is homogeneous across many machines (unless, of course, all have the same problem of malware). By uninstalling the KB2707511 and the KB2709162 they all work. Something in these updates is in conflict with something in these dos programs causing the "NTVDM. Erorr EXE'.

Although the WebCam was working before, I had to uninstall the software due to other problems. To re - install the software from the CD, I now get an error message: "MsCamSvc.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I updated the new driver on the site of Ms. There is also no yellow or green light on the WebCam after installation and connection to USB port. I got the WebCam to an electronics store, and they tested the material; This works. Why it will not properly install on my computer?

Trying to get my Microsoft Life Cam HD5000 video work. He worked until a week on Windows XP there and all of a sudden stopped sending this message
LifeCam.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
I uninstalled the program and reinstalled and this notice appears again with this 'mistake' being
AppName: lifecam.exe AppVer: 3.60.253.0 ModName: kernel32.dll
Any ideas on how to fix as all drivers are up-to-date and update of the software. As mentioned he wasn't working a week so there is no idea why the video suddenly stopped.

I try to install new software Quickbooks 2012 on the computer that is running Windows XP. The installation will start and get error "set.up.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close." I spoke with Quickbooks technical support on this issue, but they have been unable to solve the problem. I have read several of these posts on this forum about this kind of mistake, but none seem to be directly related to my situation. I plan to try to reload the Windows XP operating system, but unfortunately, the CD is missing. I'd appreciate any help that anyone could have.
original title: setup.exe errorHi Bill Gammon,.
You can go ahead and try the suggestions and if the problem persists then I you suggest to run the Microsoft Fixit and then try to install Quickbooks 2012.

Dungeon get Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close
Whenever I'm a Word document, I get the box with "Microsoft Word has encountered a problem and needs to close" I close or create a system report. I've eliminated my document then Word starts after making my document, I have then save, delete or close. Also, I wonder if I want to record in the Normal template.
This problem occurred for about a month now. Microsoft has stopped supporting my XP Microsoft Word?
All component offices, for example Word run Detect/repair, or from the office CD
See if that helps

Every time I have open internet explorer, I get the error message that the research protocol has encountered a problem.
It occurs intermittently. MS error report indicates a problem with searchprotocolhost.exe
How can I fix?: Anyone know?
My recommendation, you use Windows XP, uninstall the Windows Desktop Search and never install it again.
Option 1: In Add/Remove programs with the box checked next to 'Show updates' above checked locate "Windows Desktop Search 4.0" in the list and uninstall/remove it. "
Option 2: If the above fails, you can use this method to remove...
1. click on Start , type cmd.
2. now, in the result of the research with right-click on cmd.exe and select run as administrator.
3. type regsvr32 /u "%programfiles%\Windows Desktop Search" and press ENTER.For users of Windows XP for most it does, IMO, is slowing down the system.
