After you install Windows XP SP3, I am unable to use my modem.

I had Windows XP2 on two of my computers and one day he came with an update for XP3 it says that you can download now so I asked data doctors on this issue and they said yes go before I did. But now I can't use my modem that I paid for new install when I bought them. When I tried to put in place my fax modem it askes me to insert the CD XP3, but I do not because I upgarded to line. How can I remove XP3 and reinstall my XP2 I still have my cd, s on both computers.

original title: I got Windows XP2

I guess you could uninstall service pack 3 (using the control panel > Add / Remove Programs), then install Services of Fax and then reinstall the service pack 3, but I do not know the consequences of doing this on all the updates post-sp3 installed.

(If you really want to do it this way, I suggest seeking advice from experts in the Windows Update forum posting asking "is it safe to uninstall and reinstall xp sp3".  Include in the body of your message a question on post-sp3 updates).

Because you have a Windows XP sp2 CD, the best thing for you to do is to create a CD of XP sp3 using the process known as "slipstreaming."  If you have a CD burner on your computer (i.e., a CD player that can write as well as to read the CD), it is a relatively easy thing to do - and it's always good to have a handy day XP installation CD.

There are many websites that explain how to do this.  Here are 3:

  • HP Envy 17 t-j100: where is beats? And the sound is bad after you installed windows 10

So I installed windows 10 when he pulled out a few months back. When I install my audio beats is completely left! As this laptop is shipped with it. He was the symbol engraved on it so the reason that this laptop was so expensive in the first place with audio beats adding (I know that Hp has probably had to buy the rights or something and so increase the price). That being said, my audio beats went and my sound is too bad. As the volume is low (yes I made sure it's not muted and checked my sidebar, you know one next to the time on the screen and also the video player or the music I listen too and also the audio Manager but nothing is). Also, my audio changed too. It used a different name that according to me, but after the update is "IDT High Definition Audio CODEC". I've also updated my driver, but even once, nothing worked.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

In Device Manager, expand sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you are finished, download and reinstall the Chipset driver at the following link.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp63001-63500/sp63408.exe

When the reinstallation of Chipset is finished, stop the laptop.

Robinet tap away at the key esc that you start the computer to launch the Start Menu, and then select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f9 to load the default values (sometimes it is f5, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  • Upgrade SSD and allowing the UEFI again after you install Windows 8

Hi, having a problem w / install Windows 8 on 128 GB SSD using boot inherited (to easily boot from CD/DVD) and then return to UEFI boot sequence. Model is Dell Inspiron 17r SE. I'm absolutely not an expert on the terminology and technology, so I hope that I am using the correct terms. I removed the 1 TB disk that was originally shipped w / to settle more easily. I am able to install correctly to win 8 to the new disk (using a disc Dell win 8). After I reboot and try to come back back in the UEFI, I get a reboot constant return to the menu of the BIOS/legacy/Windows, UEFI, parameters, Diagnostic Boot Manager. Windows 8 will start only if Legacy option or boot first hard drive is selected. I DO NOT have the msata SSD, so my problem is not in the driver problem intel matrix (or whatever it's called).

I looked at the PDF of installation of windows 8 in the wiki and forums and basically tells you to put the computer in legacy mode and install Windows 8, it does not say you can return to the UEFI boot. The only thing I do not according to who download drivers SATA on USB/add iso and loading them to install. That would be the question? I wouldn't guess.

I have also tried to hit SHIFT + F10 to install and enter Diskpart, select disk 0, Clean, convert the GPT and exit and then the installation. No change. Am I supposed to completely install Windows 8, go back to install the drive, do the SHIFT + F10 sequence and then install then it would convert my GPT disk? I would assume install Win 8 would like to ask if you had UEFI and law/format accordingly.

Questions or comments, please let me know. I would like this mode to get started more quickly. It's fast now through the bios boot, but I wish it were through the UEFI.

When you use the legacy mode to install Windows 8, your setup application assumes that you want to format the SSD as a MBR disk.  That's why your system keeps jumping from UEFI.  Try to remove your current partitions (the disk must be empty to start), change your mode UEFI system configuration option and using the F12 boot menu a time.  Your computer must have an option on this menu to start your DVD/CD drive UEFI mode.  When you reach this point, remember to select the option to format the drive as a GPT disk.  UEFI mode can manage data the MBR and GPT disks, but if you want to start to UEFI, I'm sure the system drive must be a GPT formatted the player so that there the UEFI boot blocks.

  • I get 'Invalid key' when you install Windows XP SP3 Home Edition from a CD at retail and used the OEM key

I restore an HP Pavilion computer and try to install Windows XP Home Edition, with the button on the side of the computer.  I contacted HP and they no longer have an available for this computer recovery CD.  So, I tried to install a copy of Windows XP Edition retail family, but when I enter the OEM product key I get "invalid key".  I read on this forum that you can not mix the OEM disc/keys with detail, but it seems that I don't have to buy another copy of Windows when it came with my computer.  What choices do I have?

    None!

So I don't Support HP and Microsoft no help either.  Activation Center asked me to call the Department of parts (which is incorrect) and the parts Department told me that they cannot provide Windows which was distributed by HP!  Microsoft changed this start with Vista, so I do not understand why they are always telling customers that.

Will change the bios fix it?  If yes how?

    CharlesR salvation,

This concern is usually caused by an incorrect configuration of the BIOS of your device settings. If you have recently installed Windows 7, then most likely the boot priority is always set to the optical drive or USB (depending on which you have used in the installation of Windows 7).

The BIOS settings are dependent on the manufacturer of your device, this is why we invite you to contact the manufacturer of your device for assistance by changing its settings.
