  I'm running a Dell XPS 17 with Windows 7 Professional, a dual-core i7 2.7 ghz and a nVidia GT 550 m 1 GB graphics card. What happens is that I can install the game without problem but when I go to start the game, my mouse icon between busy then just go back to normal. I looked in my process in the Task Manager while you try to start it and halo2.exe would appear and then disappear just as if the process took end. I looked everywhere possible and saw several people with this problem, but no one seems to have a fix. Any help would be appreciated.

  Well, I've found a workaround. He has not been executed because when it is installed, I guess he thought that I had only the Intel 3000 gpu that has been integrated into the processor. So what I did is hooked up via HDMI to a monitor and then installed the game. HDMI only works off the coast of the nvidia card, so the integrated gpu has not yet come into play.

  Yes, you can install games like age of empires on your windows 7. all you have to do is run the installer in compatibility mode for Windows xp.

  I had problems to install this game as well.
  The error occurred to me was that the program was not installed for all users.
  I found a solution to:
  1. go to computer > C: and the option to display hidden items.
  2. after a hidden folder named ProgramData will appear.
  3. then you should go ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > StartupMenu > programs.
  4. When you are in that folder you just create another folder named Microsoft Games.
  5. inside of this new folder, you create another one named Age of Empires III
  6. now just try to reinstall.
  It worked for me on Windows 8, I hope it helps someone.

  Some of the games have demo versions available for download from the links and I already loaded 'Rise of Nations Thrones and Patriots' trial and that works OK on my netbook with W7 starter, for example.
