Age of my Macbook

I just checked the age of my MacBook Air bought the year last November, I used an application to verify the age of my MacBook and I realized that the age of my Macbook is 24544 months, 2045 years, is there a reason or is my application (coconut battery) defective?

No, coconut battery is never wrong... your Macbook is in fact 2000 years. Windows was the copy of Mac for so long.

If you want to know exactly when your mac is born Plug serial number in here http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html

    1. As the article says that you have joined, your MacBook must be the end of 2009 or newer to accept the Sierra.  You didn't don't tell us age of your MacBook.
    2. As the article you attached also says, you need at least OS X Lion (10.7) in order to install the Sierra.  You said that you are under Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6.X).)  You can buy Lion here: http://www.apple.com/shop/product/D6106Z/A/os-x-lion
  • MacBook hard drive failure

The hard drive on my MacBook (2011) crashed. I could not successfully reinstall OS X (it try to install Mountain Lion - perhaps because of the age of the MacBook). Bit then it crashes when it does real settle.

Can I create a new partition and try to install OS X on this new partition? How do I do that?

Or maybe I'm better of restoring a backup Time Machine prior? If I restore from a backup time machine, I lose my data since the last backup time machine (my last backup was March 2016, and I need the data from March 2016 before).

I'm not super technical, so please provide feedback that I hope that I can understand how to run.

    Thank you!

The hard drive on my MacBook (2011) crashed. I could not successfully reinstall OS X (it try to install Mountain Lion - perhaps because of the age of the MacBook). Bit then it crashes when it does real settle.

You don't mention if you replaced the hard drive or all just try reinstalling OS X on top of the existing. No matter, what method you are trying to use to do? Recovery Mode, Internet, Time Machine backup or an installation DVD restore recovery Mode?

I'm also assuming you don't have any other form of backups to restore from, for example, an external USB drive with a copy of the internal hard disk fairly new clone of your MacBook... correct? If this isn't the case, I strongly suggest that you consider to do so move on... especially if any of the data on the hard drive is essential for you.

What would be recommended would, at this point, the following basic steps:

    1. Run Apple Hardware Test to verify that there is no problem with your MacBook hardware. You won't waste time trying to reinstall the software on the disc if it is faulty.
    2. Perform a Recovery Mode (will install this latest version of Mac OS X that you MacBook was running) or the recovery of Internet Mode (will install the version of Mac OS X initially supplied with your MacBook) to re - install OS X.
    3. Restore from Time Machine.

  • Battery won't charge (my macbook should be tamed?)

I have a Mid 2009 15 "Macbook Pro. Back to the apple store, I was repeatedly. Show diagnostics all right accept the battery. I was told that my charger adapter was very good. Now I'm on my 4th battery this year. The last three are replacements of ifixit. The initial problem was the battery only takes about 30 minutes without the charger. The first replacement lasted for about and hour off charger. The second lasted almost as long and started swelling after about two months. Now I am on now that lasts about two hours, but does not load, and according to the coconut is overheating battery to about 48 degrees. My normal bed battery status. I have to reset the SMC just for it to recharge. It means unscrewing the bottom plate and remove the battery every time I need to recharge my phone. My fans do work from time to time now.

I don't know if it's the battery, the age of my macbook, or what. Does anyone have any suggestions?

An Apple battery comes with a 1 year warranty.  A you bought at Apple, maybe some problems would have been minimized.

You say that the fans work only part of the time.  This indicates that there is some hardware issues that must be addressed and which can not be directly associated with the battery.

In order to reset the SMC, you don't have to disconnect the battery.  Read the instructions carefully:

    https://support.Apple.com/en-us/HT201295

Use the ones where the battery should not be removed.

  • With the help of my LR CC subscription on someone of another Mac for work on my images

    Hello

So far, I had to lug my Macbook Pro to work on my images with someone else who has no LR or the latest pf LR.

In New York, there is a lot to carry on mass transportation, up and down stairs and the back - especially at my age. A Macbook, more readers, power brick, the cords, etc. - it all adds up.

So I was wondering if there is an easier way on my body to do. Any ideas?

    Raphael, you have 2 choices:

    1. take you mobile PC with you

    2. install LightRoom on the other computer

Anything else will cause many more problems that will probably help.

This happened to me a while back and I didn't close the new computer and when I turned it on my old profile was there.

I would only if you know for SURE that you have ALL of your saved information. I wouldn't tell you to do something and then you lose data because the migration does not properly perform. In my case, the migration is complete, but it got stuck on the same screen that you see. He said he had a minute left, but it was really over. • What are the normal batteries fresh cycle when buying a used macbook pro

    Hello

Looking to buy a macbook pro 2014, battery life is important enough and the machine, that I'm looking seems really well taken care of but the battery charge cycle is 300. Is this ok or normal? I don't like the idea that it is a third of the used way!

Regardless of the number of cycles a battery has gone through, replace the battery with five years of service.  Age is a factor in the health of a lithium-ion battery.

Assuming a battery will last in its setting of 1000 cycles design (most don't) suggests that 200 cycles per year would be realistic.  The MBP you are considering have 300 cycles seems to be quite normal given his age.  I wouldn't worry.

  • MacBook Air incredibly slow

My MacBook Air has recently become extremely slow with text behind my typing, windows taking ages to open and freezing programs regularly. It seems even affect my internet speed but I don't know if it's possible? Chrome now takes some time to load the sites, and even Google takes a little longer to suggest research or results.

The mac is old enough (2010 with a new logic board and the screen in 2011) and the battery life is quite short, but I need it to last about 10 months. It's slow when I use it without the charger and slower when its battery is low: it is more likely to operate normally when charging but still more often sluggish. Last week, the disk was almost full, so I deleted about 25 GB of files. I'm now 27GB to 120 GB free and he seems not to have made a difference in the speed of market - I intend to have a more thorough sort on my files in a few weeks but it is frustratingly slow at times, the prospect of a day which is not a good time!

I've tempted by the promises made CleanMyMac but was dissuaded by some threads here - someone has any suggestions, please?

    Hello

Do not install CleanMyMac. It can do more harm than good.

It would be easier solve problems for you if you have downloaded and run Etrecheckthen copy and pasted the results in your response here.

No personal data is shared from an EtreCheck report. That should reveal what causes your Mac run so slow.

  • Questions to power MacBook Pro 15 "

My MacBook Pro is getting pretty old (8 almost 9 years), and at that age, he has some weird problems. I already talked to Apple about this and they can't pin point the issue... all they know is that it is NOT a software problem. Basically, my computer has some weird and random hiccups

    Data sheet:

    OS: El Capitan 10.11.4

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    RAM: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    Chart: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB

Hard drive: 320 GB Toshiba HDD

    Questions:

    • Stops at Midway during the start unless constantly, you press a key on the keyboard
    • Request chance to stop, restart, sleep in the pop window crept up I pressed the power button and will stop if Cancel is not pressed within 5-10 seconds
    • Randomly goes to sleep and stop unless you immediately wake up
    • Stop when the lid is closed (insomnia will not fix it... list of things I've tried is planned)
    • Caps lock light does not work (possibly related)
    • The lighting is uneven in lighting (possibly related)
    • Reader superDrive cannot read, write or view the disks on the desktop (possibly related)

    Solutions, I tried (but not):

    • Reset the NVRAM
    • Replacing the HARD drive
    • Installation of insomnia
    • Reinstall OS X
    • Boot Safe Mode
    • Disk check and repair authorization

I have no idea what to do and I don't want to make a new MacBook. If any of you can help or tell me what the problem is it would be greatly appreciated. If worst comes to worst I'll bring to a local Apple certified repair shop and get it looked at. I don't get a new computer (if it is repairable and not as compensation of $500). I want to wait until the computer is 2 years late. And yes I know the MacBook will not be able to get MacOS Sierra 10.12.0 in the fall, I'm willing to wait for OS X 10.14.0 (2018) to get a new Mac.

    Please try resetting the SMC.

  • MacBook pro freezes when the mouse stops

I have a very strange problem with my Macbook Pro 13 "Retina display.   When I login, the system freezes once I have stop moving the mouse.  If I permanently move the mouse, the system works, but if I stop moving for about 2-3 seconds, the system hangs and I have to force turned off using the power button.  I have troubleshooted all the way to the bottom for a pure install of El Capitan 10.11.6 but even after cleaning install it always does the same thing.  Of course, it looks like a HW problem but I just wanted to see if someone else has had this problem and if there was a solution that was not related to HW.

It would be more helpful if you listed what you've tried already, we can't look in your mind. But, run the Diagnostics to start.

Diagnosis of Apple is not as complete as the software they use at the Apple Store, but it can pick up something. Depending on the age of your system, you'll use one or the other.
