Aironet 1242AG GUI

Hello

I just got my aironet 1242AG. I configured the ip address of fastethernet 0. I tried to pass 1242AG GUI fastethernet 0. But I failed to get in the GUI. Is there another adjustment I have to make before I can access 1242AG GUI?

Oh there, I'm new in the wireless field. :)

I think that you configure the IP in bvi int and not fa, if you configure it to factory default. Also, I guess it's wap-based IOS and not LWAPP.

  • Help with a Cisco Aironet 1242AG

Alright. So, I want to start by saying that I have what I consider to be the basis of knowledge of network management. I recently got a Cisco Aironet 1242AG WAP. I realize that this is not a stand-alone router. I would use it as an extension of my current router. From now on, the status light is alternating colors. If I understand correctly, it can not find the controller. I cannot telnet inside, or use web browser interface. Both say that the connection is not available. However, when I check my DHCP from my router table, I see that an IP address has been assigned to the MAC for the WAP. I tried to do a factory reset holding MODE until I plug the power supply and wait until it turns amber. After a few minutes and go through a few changes led, it goes back to the alternating colors on an ongoing basis.

I don't really know where to go from here. Help, please.

    Thank you

Radios allow without a ssid that are attached to them. You will need to create your ssid and then fix to the interface radio. assignment of an address to the British Virgin Islands and setting a value default gateway on the device and you should be able to raise it.

  • Reset zero Aironet 1242AG

    Hello

I have a huge problem with my partner - we moved our password list! Is there a way to reset the access point, without going through the GUI? Any help is appreciated a lot! In the contrary case, we will have to consider service... Thank you

    Hi Isabelle,.

    You can use this method;

Reset the AP? Cisco IOS Software

All the steps in this section in order to reset Cisco IOS software-based APs.

Note: The Cisco's IOS software-based APs have a default configuration includes a user name and password combination. The user name and the password is "Cisco", which is case-sensitive. After you reset to the factory settings, be prepared to give "Cisco" under the user name and password when you are prompted by the GUI or the command line interface (CLI).

If the privileged command ap # is available in the CLI prompt, command to clear writing and the command reload erasing the startup configuration and reset the unit.

If the GUI is available, choose system software > System Configuration. Press the Reset to default button.

If the GUI or the CLI is available with sufficient privileges, complete these instructions in order to use the Mode key:

    Disconnect the AP.

Disconnect the external power supply intake or the Ethernet cable to be able to inline.

Press and hold the MODE button while you reconnect power to the AP.

Press and hold the MODE button until the status laps LED amber, and then release the button.

The status LED turns amber in approximately 1-2 seconds.

After the AP reboots, reconfigure the AP and use the interface of the web browser, Telnet interface or the Cisco IOS Software commands.

Note: The AP is configured with the default factory values that include:

The IP address, which is set to receive an IP by DHCP

The default user name and password, "Cisco".

  • Are all the tools you need to configure an Aironet 1242AG?

I keep getting messages that my access point refusal to connect.

I put on the same switch that I'm connected to (a C2960). I can see it get an IP address, I can ping, but I get a refusal on the web address. The fact that the said refusal to connect browser I think it's a permissions problem.

I have the Cisco IPSU tool and when I entered the MAC it finds the IP address. I checked on the DHCP server. Shouldn't be able to hit the web interface of the access point by using the IP address that has been assigned? Am I missing something?

My laptop is not a serial port so I'm a bit limited here. Any help would be appreciated!

You must enter AP CLI to check/troubleshoot your configuration.

You can use USB-serial cable to get access to the console, if you have only USB ports on your laptop

  • Adjustment of antennas

    Hello!

I have an aironet 1242AG access point, 2 x 2, 4 GHz (AIR-ANT5135D-R) and 2 x 5 GHz (AIR-ANT4941) installed antennas. I have the gateway lying on a rack near the ceiling. What is the best position for the antennas? Should they be right vertical or by creating a V shape (between the 2 same frequency)?

I do not think that to get a big win out of this, but what are the guidelines?

Thanks a lot for anybodys time!

    Hi Isabelle,.

    In your case "vertical right" would be the way to go. You might not really need two of each unless you are trying to give a cover type diversity. Take a look;

    You can use two antennas in Diversity mode, but not to cover two different cells/regions. For most installations, if you just use an antenna connected to the Right-hand/primary, RP - TNC connector you should be good, if you have obstacles in the area of cell, you can try to use mode Diversity (2 x? Antennas);

When you use a pair of antennas with characteristics corresponding to ensure diversity cellular coverage in your establishment, the guideline is to put these corresponding antennas at one distance independently of the other which is equal to a multiple of the wavelength of the frequency that is passed. The 2.4 GHz wavelength is about 4,92 inches. Therefore, in order to support diversity on a radio of 2.4 GHz with two separate antennas, the antennas must be sufficiently spaced about 5 inches apart. The pair of antenna could also be spaced at multiples of 5 inches, but the distance between the two may not exceed 4 multiples: reflects the waves more far outside that are likely to be so distorted and different late spread that the radio could not work with them. Because each antenna is chosen by himself, both antennas should have the same characteristics of radiation and be placed to provide similar cellular coverage.

    The good doc.

  • WCS license problem

    Hello;

We have 100 AP on WCS base license. In our network, we have Cisco Aironet 1242AG AP series 75.

But WCS give an error like ' % of AP Licenses used: Violation. "

When you look at the number of AP, we see that there is a record of two for each access point. One of them is 802. 11A, the other is 802. 11 b / g but AP name is the same for both archives.

We do not use 802. 11, so we don't need.

How we solve this problem of license?

    Thank you.

Ah - the solution is to go in monitor-> access points and click New search. Search ALL of your AP not associated and remove them. I noticed the same thing on my controllers. If you look in the monitor or configure lists, you see that the number of AP looks right. But if you add the AP to a floor plan, you will see all the extras (in my case, AP, which had been renamed by default). Then, I made all my AP have been renamed and remove all identifying unnamed PA and my number of licenses is fine.

  • Aironet 1130 users gui

    Hello

I would like to have two different users for access to web and cli aironet 1130. At the moment you wear with a password given. When I want to log on to the web gui I use wear with the enable secret password.

Now, I want to create a user b with a password and privilege level 15. userA and userB must connect to the web gui with THEIR passwords and not the global enable secret password. If I configure the ip http authentication aaa, the connection popup displays always level_1, or view_access, where I can log in with both users. When I want to reconfigure something, it shows the popup in connection with level_15.

How can I configure, it initially appears the level_15 instead of level_1?

Thank you very much in advance

  • No connection with Aironet 1602i on only web gui

Can someone tell me if there is no magic required to get the standalone Aironet 1602i (AIR-SAP-1602I-E-K9) react on its web interface?  The device appears when connected to the Netgear M4100 switch - 26G - PoE (), flashing green LED, then I think "chirp" (green on 1 second, off the coast of 3 seconds) which is how it should be.  I see in the firewall, it took an IP address, but although it meets the pings there is no connection on the interface web, just "cannot establish connection."

    Any help much appreciated.

You can return the device for an AIR SAP1602 or convert the AP... Here are some links that you can follow and a YouTube video.

    Thank you

  • Cisco Aironet SAP1602E - changing open to WPA - PSK access remote (RAP and map)

I currently have a deployment of Cisco Aironet SAP1602E Wireless point to point bridge (bridge using RAP and card, root wireless and Non-Root Bridge) to expand a layer 2 VLAN from one building to the other. It currently operates uisng open authentication and encryption - and is administered remotely via the bridge of root, to get wireless (manage) the bridge Non-Root - RAP wireless remote.

Try to configure the PSK WPA2-PSK remotely via the GUI or CLI - first setup - I informed a similar error to her below indicating that:

Error: Key-management WPA is requried for WPA-PSK
Read around, it seems, there is a configuration-control problem, and that I need to specify the mode as WPA2-PSK first, before then being able to specify the PSK there instead of using. However, as soon as this mode is specified on RAP, my remote administration is broken - as probably the RAP try to use WPA2-PSK to look for a PSK, which has not yet been configured. Am I missing something obvious here, or is the order of operations of CLI (1] convert to WPA - PSK; (2] shared secret to apply PSK) as a migration from open to WPA2-PSK cannot be configured remotely (short of preparation of a startup-config; TFTPing presents more; and issuance of a 'reload' remote control)? Can someone please enlighten me as to what the logic is here - no doubt I should be able to specify a PSK first (fo without worrying if I use WPA, WPA2 or other), and then be able to specify that I want as the layer of encryption (WPA) to make use of this pre-parameter PSK? If it was a router, you don't can me to add something to the authentication key chain OSPF; before clarifying its use - why so different Aironet Wireless IOS?

You're right, and because you will have to enter several lines of configuration to switch to WPA2-PSK with AES didn't really matter; the AP would reset the radio anyway because you make changes related to the radio interface. It would be very useful that if Cisco router/switch IOS 'macro' feature available AP thus in changes like this, unfortunately this is not the case.

Start with the nonroot AP and make sure that the following lines are added to your configuration. If you add by the console, the order must be like that, do it by downloading a new configuration of booting with tftp, that it does not matter.

    interface Dot11Radio0
encryption ciphers aes - ccm mode

    SSID dot11 TEST
    authentication wpa key management
    WPA - psk ascii 0

  • Point of access Cisco Aironet 1200 series help

We have 4 Cisco Aironet 1200 Access Points and they are all set to authenticate with our RADIUS server. However, authentication is hooked and can't understand why. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with Cisco Aironet 1200 Access Points configuration?

OK, I do not work with the GUI so although the memory is a little hazy but from the APs home page look on the left hand side and there is an option for something like "Software Setup" or something to that effect. You should be able to find the IOS version of here. This requires that you are indeed runnig IOS code. How old are these APs? If more than a few years ago (and perhaps even more recent) that they could very well be running VxWorks and then we are in a different ball game. If you see what I have described above and the homepage for the AP is often white with a bit of greenish-blue, bluish-green color then IOS, if it is more colorful, yellow stuff and VxWOrks.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything that anyone else. I will try to answer as soon as POSSIBLE.

  • Aironet 1200 and MAC authentication

    Hi all

I Aironet 1210 and you want to implement the authentication MAC without ACS.

Now, I know that any AP Aironet can allow authentication MAC se store the list of MAC addresses.

    So after the command:

    TestAP (config-if-ssid) #authentication open mac

TestAP (config-if-ssid) #authentication open mac address?

WORD mac address list (1-31 characters) name

There is no way I can list all MAC addresses in the list. I use IOS Version 12.2 (13) JA3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Samuel Wilson

If you do not have a RADIUS server on your network, you can create a list of MAC addresses allowed on advanced security of access point: MAC address authentication page. Devices with not on the list of MAC addresses are not allowed to authenticate.

I use the GUI to make a list:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/wireless/ps4570/products_configuration_example09186a00801c0912.shtml

The link above is to use the local capacity of GANYMEDE to the AP, but if you select the option "Advanced Security" on the right side of the web interface, it will take you to the page where you can create your list of mac addresses.

  • Cisco Aironet 1830 disable broadcasting of the SSID

I recently bought a Cisco Aironet 1830 with the mobility Express version. installed 8.2.100.0. This unit is my controller and my only AP. I configured the device, but I can't seem to find a setting in the GUI or the CLI of the controller or AP disable broadcasting of the SSID. Can someone help with this?

    Thank you

The CLI is available, the following command:

config ssid broadcast disable wlan where wlan id is the number of your wlan. If in doubt, do a show wlan summary which should give you this info, I hope.

  • Aironet 1200 series - power of the weak signal near AP

I recently bought an access point of the Aironet 1200 (AIR-AP1231G-A-K9) series and the initial setup - IP configuration on the AP, the installer does a SSID and turn on the radio.

I used my laptop to connect to the SSID that I created, but to my surprise the signal strength of my SSID was only 2 bars and sometimes 1 bar and I'm within 2 feet of the access point. However, the speed of connection/signal quality was varying between 24 Mbps and 36 Mbps.

Why is the signal strength so low?

Is is because I did not buy them with external antennas?

I missed something during the initial Setup?

Y at - it an option that I have change/fine adjust in the GUI to get the best signal strength?

    Help, please.

"Is is because I did not buy them with external antennas?

Yes, that's correct. There is no internal antennas on this model of AP.

You need at least one, preferably two antennas of the same type for each radio. If you have the old 'A' radio with the paddle antenna, then you only need one or two antennas of radio 2.4 G.

    Good luck
