Airport Express - USB drive not visible in the finder

I have a brand new Airport Express that I currently use as an Extender for our old time Capsule. I would like to share a USB between computers. The Aiport utility see the drive.

However, the Finder does not show the drive.

In the future this extreme with a USB (mini 4 TB drobo) will be in our caravan to help us to do video editing and blogging with 2 computers on the road.

Finder are not displayed at the start of the drive, but it should display the AirPort Extreme under the Shared heading in the left side of the Finder window.

In the example below, my AirPort Extreme (called AEBS) has a drive named 500 GB drive connected to the USB port at the back of the unit.

By clicking on the AEBS, another window displays the name of the player on the right side of the window.

Double-click to mount the drive on the desktop.

Now you can drag and drop files on the disc icon, or open the drive and drag the files into the opened window, which represents the drive.

  • USB drive not recognized on the A30-151 in XP

After a clean install of Windows XP Pro on a Satellite A30 151, a USB device remains in the category 'Other' (after installation of the graphics and audio drivers, modem) for which no driver seems to be available on the drivers CD. At this point, the category "USB" contains four entries, two standard "Universal Host Controllers" and two "OpenHost' controllers, with the default drivers.
I suspect that the missing device can be a USB 2.0 "PCI controller host improved USB" from another manufacturer, but Toshiba does not offer a driver for XP for it then it should be supported by the OS (?).
Any suggestions as to what can be and what drivers need?

It turns out that XP does support USB 2.0 according to the SP1, it seems a pre - SP1 version of XP Pro leads the native Windows drivers is not available. For anyone in a similar situation, it seems as if a) upgrade to SP1 or b) install the hotfix Q312370)

in this case, the "NEC PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller B1" driver required original can be found by searching for "USB driver" for "Windows 2000" for the Satellite A30 Toshiba driver download page.

  • USB drive not readable on the Satellite A665-13W

    Hello

I have the following problem. I have Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB (USB 3.0) by car and it is perfectly readable on other PCs without worrying if I connect it to the USB 3.0 or USB 2.0 ports.

The device is detected in Windows 7 64-bit on Toshiba Satellite A665-13W and I see it in Device Manager. He invites me to open the disk E: (NTFS volume), but it looks empty when I open it in Explorer Windows with a certain delay when Explorer seems to scan drive.

I see some errors in the event viewer such as:
Event ID 11: driver has detected an error in the controller on \Device\Harddisk1\DR2

But when I connect for example Patriot 8 GB USB drive it works without problem. When I boot Windows 7 in safe mode, the Kingston DataTraveler HyperX 64 GB drive is connected, and I can read it.

What should I do to make it readable without going into safe mode?

I have the latest BIOS 2.30, I tried to enable/disable USB legacy support, I tried the fast/normal startup, I tried to install the latest Intel Chipset drivers, I tried all USB ports, including one that can be used as eSATA port, but without success. I also uninstalled the recognized device driver and let Windows detect the device again and reinstall the driver, but also without success. I also disabled power management option to disable device, without success.

When I start in normal mode, I can't read NTFS volume. When I boot in safe mode I can read. The USB works on other PC in normal mode. Old USB 2.0 USB key works in normal mode. Strange. It must be a firmware problem or driver in my opinion. If it is a hardware problem or device the device would not work in safe mode!

Are USB 3.0 64 GB of storage devices that are compatible with Toshiba laptops with USB 2.0 ports?

There could be a problem of compatibility between the USB controller and the USB key.
    This compatibility questions aren't unusual.

But I m wondering if you could try to fix this in the other direction:
First check to see if the USB flash memory stick would appear in disk management

    Panel-> management-> disk management computer

Here you will see all the partitions on the HARD disk and the USB connected.
Check if you can format the USB key once more.

If the USB does not appear here, try this method:
Start the console by typing CMD
Then type the command: diskpart and press enter
Now, type command: automount enable and press enter

Now, close all windows and restart the laptop.

  • Google Drive not visible in the tree structure Diadem Navigator

    Hello!

In our company, we use Google Apps. Google Reader is a handy tool to use to ensure the instant backup of your files. However, my problem is I don't think Google Reader in the Navigator tree structure, at least not systematically. There were occasions where the drive was visible, but now I can't find. The reader has no doubt exists and is accessible in Windows Explorer. Anyone know what could be the problem and how to fix it (except avoid Google Drive as working space)?

    Hi Brad,

Thanks for your suggestion, it worked very well worked.

But before I tried to add a new drive, I've been playing with different modes in the browser tab. I discovered in the mode 'Data bank' with 'My computer' as source (or root), the directory structure has no problem to display Google Reader - works fine.

High til' today, I didn't know there are two display modes available, I've always been using the mode "data search". In the mode "Data search" Google Reader does not appear when you try to navigate to the local C drive. In the 'data' finder Google Reader mode is only available when add you it as a drive in Windows Explorer.

So long story short, if you want to have easy access without problem to your Google Reader in DIAdem, add it as a drive in Windows Explorer.

  • My profile files are not visible in the Finder (OS x 10.10 & previous). Can I fix?

Mozilla help site instructions often start by locating the Thunderbird profile files. I see these from within Tbird and with a Terminal command, but not with the Finder. Why not? I think I have the message index corruption, but I can't delete the file index as directed.

When you select help/troubleshooting information and click on "View file", doesn't the profile folder open in the Finder?

    http://KB.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird#Finding_your_profile

Rather than delete the msf to index, you can rebuild them by right-clicking on a folder in the folder Repair, TB, properties.

  • Re: Qosmio X 500 - USB IDE drive not visible external HARD

    Hello

Someone was kind enough to educate myself on this problem?

How to view the contents of an IDE hard drive connected to the USB port on my Qosmio X 500?

-The drive is already formatted and filled with data
-LED lights on the outer box, but the disc is not visible in the browser...

I got my old laptop internal hard drive and I bought a box to be able to connect to the USB port on my Qosmio in order to get my data...
    What is the problem?

The hard drive come from 32-bit Windows XP and Qosmio with seven 64-bit...

I need to install a special driver? use a specific software? or configure specific settings?

    Thank you...

    > What is the problem?
Who knows? If other discs hard USB can be connected properly to the Qosmio laptop, the problem might be related to the connected HARD drive.
So I recommend this external USB with other computers.
If the other computers will not recognize it, so the external HARD disk is a problem

    > additional power supply is probably necessary for a HARD drive
Maybe my HDD USB requires a cable that can be connected to the two USB ports

  • USB drive will not appear in the finder, but is OK in disk utility

My "music backup" external USB 1 TB SSD showed in the Finder, until a few days ago, when he disappeared. I tried dismantling and Assembly of the command line. The said command-line editing is successful, but I still don't see the drive in Finder.

If I go into disk utility "First aid" reports no problem. The drive is formatted for OS X.  If I right click and say "Open in the Finder" I can see all the folders and even drag in the sidebar where they work, even after a reboot. I can't see the drive at a higher level.

How can I fix it? I guess a solution would be to create a folder called "Music disc" and then move all files on the disc in it and then put it on the sidebar, but it seems silly. How can I get my hard drive appears again in the finder.

PS Si I use a third-party file manager, such as ordering a PRO, the USB drive is available for selection in the drop-down list of disks attached.

    Help!

The Finder, choose utilities go to menu, open the Script Editor and run:

    the shell script ' chflags nohidden ' / Volumes/VolumeName /'.

put the name of the drive where is VolumeName.

  • HP ProtectTools encryption recovery disk: USB drive not recognized

I encrypted hard drives of a couple of notebooks HP Elitebook 8560p using HP ProtectTools drive encryption. Saved 4GB USB DRIVE formatted FAT32 discs recovery keys. BIOS and latest available drive encryption versions today.

Today I decided to test the functionality of recovery. So, when the BitLocker Drive login screen appears at the start, I select Recovery. Then I click on browse to find the recovery on the USB drive key. However, the USB is not visible doesn't help not hit 'refresh readers '. I tested it on two laptops. The system simply does not see the USB drive at this stage (works very well under Windows). Any ideas? I lived the most obvious BIOS settings.

The USB key is recognized and everything works fine if the laptop is in its docking station, and the USB is connected to the USB port of the docking station.

  • El Capitan - Ext. USB Drive not mounting

Since the upgrade to El Capitan, I have not been able to access my external USB drive. I read the other posts about this problem and none of their solutions worked for me. Through repeated trial and error, I came across a solution that allowed me to access my USB drive in El Capitan. By attaching a USB hub to USB port and your device your drive should become accessible. Depending on what type of car you join you may need a powered hub. I enclose a mSATA drive to a hub powered and well.

    Hi Bob, there.

Looks like you're having connect your USB drive to a hub so that it works with your computer. I would reset your PRAM then your SMC in this order:

How to reset the NVRAM on your Mac.

    Then:

Reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac.

If the problem persists after that I have would then start in safe mode to clear some system-level caches and perform a disk check and repair if necessary:

Follow these steps to start in safe mode.

    1. Start or restart your Mac.
    2. As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key.
    3. Release the SHIFT key when you see the logo Apple appears on the screen.

After the Apple logo appears, this may take longer than usual to reach the login screen or your office. This is because your Mac performs a check of directory of your drive to boot in safe mode.

To leave safe mode, restart your computer without pressing any keys during startup.

From: try safe mode if your Mac does not start-up

Once you log in safe mode, reboot normally and try again the reader. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes.

  • USB key does not appear in the Finder or Desktop

Using the latest version of El Capitan on a Macbook 12 "and then plug a SanDisk flash drive in the USB - C drive: the device does not appear in the Finder, at all, not under devices in the sidebar, or anywhere in the Finder. Also it shows only intermittently on the desktop. Of course, this makes the useless car.

I found that the USB 3 restart MB with 3 USB stick connected via an adapter to the port of C rises. But we must secure it by Apple with an update of the firmware; We should not need to use workarounds to get 3 USB works through much touted app one port USB C.

  • USB stick not recognized by the computer. Have tried all the options I can think about.

Very well.  I have a S-Mini Patriot 32 GB flash drive that does not recognize my HP Slimline 400-434 Windows 8.1. In my view, he acknowledged once and has refused to do since. My laptop (Windows 7 Toshiba) recognizes very well.

All other devices USB function perfectly on this computer. USB hub mouse, keyboard, USB, cable Apple iPhone.

    1. I tried to unplug all other USB devices before trying this one. IN CASE OF FAILURE

    2. I went to device management and the USB does not appear in the list. IN CASE OF FAILURE

    3. I uninstalled the USB root hubs and restarted the computer. IN CASE OF FAILURE

    4. I tried to plug in the USB ports on the back that plug directly into the motherboard. IN CASE OF FAILURE

    5. I have updated the drivers, and have been unable to find a update of the BIOS as the link on the HP download site and told that it is incompatible to my computer. IN CASE OF FAILURE

.. then what the hell gorram bloody I do now?

Good and the most ridiculous way, I never solved a technical problem...

Failed to insert the USB flash in the port. She has to insert slowly, so that the contacts are aligned.

I found it trying to connect to it in my USB hub and noting that the witness red light was going on and outside that I inserted the USB key, flicker on as I inserted it there and then off once it is all the way in.

Weird. But good. It works now.

    Hi Rohit,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum. I understand that your USB drive is having problems of compatibility with your computer, but I would like to learn more about the issue in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?
    2. When do you get exactly the error message?
    3. Have you tried to connect to any other computer on this flash drives?
    4. Your USB key works on other computers or have you tried to connect to different USB ports on this computer?
    5. Is the pen drive getting detected in the case or you are able to access the drive folder in the window of the computer ?

The question may arise if the currently loaded USB driver has become unstable or damaged, or if your PC requires an update for problems that could conflict with a device USB and Windows. This can also occur if your USB controllers may have become unstable or corrupt. So, I would suggest trying the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Please try the fixit (s) provided below which will help you solve common problems associated with devices and USB ports.

If method 1 does not work, try Method 2.

    Method 2:

Remove and reinstall all USB controllers.

    1. Open Manager devices by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and security, and then, under System, clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. In the list of the categories of equipment, locate and expand Bus USB controllers.
    3. Right-click every device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
    4. Restart the computer and let the USB controllers get reinstalled.

Plug in the removable USB device and test to make sure that the problem is solved.

If the problem persists, go to method 3.

    Method 3:

This method will install the latest drivers from device to your USB device.

    1. Click the Start button, type Windows Update in the search box, and then click Windows Update in the results pane.
    2. Click find updates. When the scan finished, click optional review updates.
    3. Click the check box next to the update, and then click install updates.
    4. If you are prompted, read the license agreement, then click I agree.
    5. Follow the instructions on the screen to download and install updates.
    6. If you are prompted, restart your computer.

More information: Update a hardware driver that is not working properly

Hope this information is useful. If the problem still persists, please post back for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

  • Hard drive not visible after installing Windows 7

My second hard drive is no longer visible in 'My Computer' since the installation of Windows 7 (new installation).   The two drives appear in Device Manager, and apparently both work correctly.  The hard drive I have Windows 7 on is the first SATA and the second hard drive (which is not visible) is the first IDE.  Any ideas?  Thank you!

Right-click on my computer, select manage.  On the next page, click Disk Management.  It will be displayed on the right side, just assign it a drive letter.
