  I just bought a refurbished Airport Extreme and I intend to use it as my router & combine with our old time Capsule of existing one to create a roaming Wifi network.

  The new Airport Extreme (renovated) is in my studio/Office - directly connected to our internet broadband wireless (WAN port)

  Our small ethernet is connected to my iMac [mid 2010 running OSX 10.11.5] & a PC and extends up to 2 other domains through an ethernet switch.

  This configuration works very well, our internet speed has improved slightly - better than our old T-Link router bit.  WiFi available throughout the House - better on one side.

  Time Capsule (2 TB) is connected by ethernet on the far side of the House, offer backup Time Machine and strong Wifi to this area.

  This time Capsule was an existing installation that went perfectly with the T-Link before I bought the Airport Extreme.

  I used the Airport utility to set everything up and it seems to work.

  The problem is:

  Combines the Capsule and extreme connected & active, the Internet gradually slows down and grinds to stop. -Wifi seems to follow suit, but is much more gradual.

  If I disable the Time Capsule, the internet connection is back to normal, Airport Extreme Wifi signal is strong and extends to almost all areas.

  I got to the departure of the two units configuration problems, so I reset both factory default and from that moment managed to do all this work - with the exception that the internet connection slows down.  Whenever I visit a different web site, it takes more time to load/link upward.

  I spoke with our ISP, the link to our tower is solid. The technology suggested that I put Wifi on each unit to use a different channel (2 frequencies & several channels each available).

  So far, this has not resolved the problem, I will continue to make adjustments.

  I googled this - most of the answers are not to date - usually 2012, 13, 14. and not directly related to my situation.  But I will continue my search.

  I'd appreciate if anyone here has any suggestions

  Should we assume that you use a Mac with the help of a current or recent operating system?

  If you get out of the Capsule of time and leaves disabled for now, the network AirPort Extreme continue to run at full speed for a few hours and not slow down?

  We ask these questions because we must first confirm that the AirPort Extreme works properly until we can begin to troubleshoot the connection to Time Capsule.

• Impossible to use Time Machine on Airport Extreme

  Back in June, I brought a laptop HD work to save the laptop. It's something I have done 3 times a year, in addition to using Time Machine on my 1 TB Airport Extreme. Well, when I did that, I went from 'H Time Capsule' to 'Brian's Portable HD. Everything saved. No problem. It seemed.

  Unfortunately, I can no longer use Time Machine on the 1 TB drive. Every time as I try, I get "password to the server": Time Capsule". And the password I try does not work. Arrrggh.

  Is it possible to find the password lost at an Airport Extreme?

  Can or, if it's a no-go, I reset everything on it and start over?

  It would really help if you could provide the version of the operating system that you use on your laptop.

  The reason is that if you can access the AirPort Extreme using AirPort Utility, you can retrieve the "lost password" for the album Time Capsule, which could be the password wireless, could be the base station password, or it might be the disk password... it depends of how you implement the AirPort Extreme.

  You can back up a windows computer to Time Capsule but I do not recommend.

  Any backup software that can use target network should work.

  Macrium Reflect is the one I use, I know the Time Capsule works.

  Time line of engineering is a concept similar to Time Machine for PC... It's more that I want to make, but it doesn't seem to be a free version... How good or bad or I do not know what limits.

  Internal backup software MS is generally useless... at least up to win 8.1 10.

  NOTE... A USB connected to the laptop computer and formatted NTFS native is far superior to backup to TC which is formatted HFS + (illegible for windows) which is networked that the SMB protocol and treaded as NT server with all its limitations with FAT32.

  Without the NAT settings, I can not get this Airport Extreme to assign valid IP addresses and so unnecessary

  Sorry, but Apple will only accept the 10.0.x.x addresses to be assigned by the AirPort Extreme.

  Perhaps.  The current product was introduced more than 3 years ago, and Apple did not of any material changes since that time. Because it usually takes about a year to develop a new product, the technology in the "current" AirPort Extreme is probably 4 years old.

  Your next question might be... Apple plans to introduce new models soon?  The answer is that we do not know.

  Yes and no.

  Yes, if the routers are only connected together using a connection wired Ethernet cable.

  Not in general, if you ask to have different brands "extend" the signal of wireless connection to other brands

  I've set up the Express in client mode before, but I'll have set up extreme. During setting up he sees that I am on an existing network, but he doesn't know that and wonder if I would create a new. When I try to connect to an existing network, it indicates that an unexpected error has occurred. He takes the password and restarts and then never reappears in Airport utility, after I switch back to the existing network.

  AirPort Extreme is adjustable upward in client mode?

  No, do not use any version 6.x of AirPort Utility.

  Maybe, if you have an old 'flat or square' in the form of AirPort Extreme and you can use an older version 5.x of AirPort Utility to maybe put in place.

  But even if you could do that, the extreme doesn't really matter in client mode. The Ethernet ports are not enabled, and the extreme would not "extend" or "repetition" of the network. The only thing that would work would be the USB port, which runs at half the speed of a USB 2.0 standard.

• AirPort Extreme - set time zone

  I have seen a lot of traffic on the change of the parameter of time zone in an AirPort Extreme, but I can't find an answer.  It seems that it may be impossible.  There is debate if even a hard reset of the device clears the set time zone and allow it to be reset.  It also seems to be no access to the device to terminal implemented a manual correction.

  I left US mountain for the Eastern US time zone time zone.  I have an AirPort Extreme running firmware version 7.6.7 and use version 6.3.6 AirPort Utility.  My AirPort Extreme needs to operate in bridge, because of the way the Internet is provided by our service.  I use the 'access control Timed"to limit the time that my young children are able to access the Internet.

  It should be a simple matter to define the time zone of my AirPort Extreme to my current location (or so it should automatically and reliably).  I don't know if the bridge mode interferes with the ability of the device to find its time zone.

  Can anyone offer advice (other than to apply an offset from my control access timed two hours time difference)?  Can the Genius Bar at my local store to fix?

  Unfortunately, Apple has removed a number of parameters that they feel that the users do not need. Setting the time is one of them.

  Finally, your airport will have the exact time, but it usually takes about 6 weeks for that to happen.  Until then, you will need to manually adjust the access delay settings to compensate for.  When the time of the correction is made, then you have to adjust again timed access.

  We have seen some reports from users who claim that resetting the airport to return to the default settings and then setting them up again will fix the issue of the time, but it has not always worked when I tried it.

  If the 'genius' can solve this problem quickly, then he won the title.

  • Sitting in the same place compared to the router, I connect again all the time to the 5 G network.

  Conclusion:

  • The new firmware introduced a regression.

  AirPort Extreme 802.11ac here is using firmware 7.7.7 and both bands are using the same wireless network name.

  The Mac laptop now connects to 5 GHz when I'm 3 rooms away from the airport.

  Before 7,7,7 I couldn't the laptop to connect to 5 GHz at all when it was still far from the 2 rooms.  I pay much attention to what channel the Mac is on, but when I looked a minute there, it's on 149.  Could have been earlier today on 161, can't remember.

  So, I see essentially the opposite of what you state.

• Airport Extreme is not able to join the network

  I'm trying to implement a repurposed Airport extreme in Bridge mode. Before, I was always able to use the "join the network" option, but now it only gives me the option to create, expand or inactive. I have a model a1521 (6th generation) that I have as my main router. I also have an express airport of old I have in Bridge mode. I am trying to add the a1143 (3rd generation) to the right network and put it in Bridge mode. Is intended to be used as a wireless print server until I can move my printer and the 6th gen at the same location. This option has been removed? am just missing something?

  

  Apple has removed the option "Register" for the AirPort Extreme (and Time Capsule) when it introduced version 6.x of the AirPort with Lion (10.7.3) utility about 3 years ago.

  If you have... or you can borrow for 15-20 minutes... a former Mac under Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC with the utility AirPort for Windows installed on the device... you might be able to manually configure the old A1143 AirPort Extreme to 'join' the network using a version 5.x of AirPort Utility.

• FIOS Actiontec router and old Airport Extreme.

  I have a FIOS Actiontec router wired to an old Airport Extreme. Signal guard fall. FIOS sends a new router, in case that's the problem. Do I have to run two networks or if I can disconnect Airpot extreme? (I use an old PC and several Mac products).

  You do not need to run two wireless networks, unless you want to, or you happen need a second network to "guest" or something like that.

  If you decide to keep the AirPort Extreme Active However, it must connect to the Actiontec router/modem.  In other words, the Actiontec router/modem may operate as a stand-alone product, but AirPort Extreme can do... because it doesn't have a modem on board.

  You don't mention how is old AirPort Extreme, but in general, the useful life of a router designed for home use is about 5 years, if the airport is in this range, and the descents are produce with AirPort Extreme, while the airport is therefore probably in the descent position.

  I can't give you much because Apple reveal much in their router controls virtually nothing.

  I guess... (not an expert in everything, that the MSS is set on it, with a number of start-up of 536 and 216 min value).

  Buy one and try... If it does not return within 14 days.

  I have Verizon FIOS if it even matters, just bought the airport extreme. How can I configure the extreme up to a bridge.

  Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the four <-->LAN ports on the router FIOS on 'o' WAN port on the AirPort Extreme. This cable must remain in place at all times. Then, click the WiFi icon at the top of the screen of your Mac and click on AirPort Extreme under the title of the new AirPort base station.

  

  If you use an iPhone or an iPad for configuration... Tap Settings on the home screen, tap WiFi. Tap on AirPort Extreme under the title of the new Station's Base. This illustration below shows an AirPort Express, but you will see AirPort Extreme on your screen.

  

  Who will get Apple "Assistant" setup running and it will automatically set up correctly for AirPort Extreme, shown below, if you do not have to worry about things like the Bridge Mode.

  Simply fill in the blanks for the name of your network wireless, the name of the AirPort Extreme, password, etc.. Click Next, wait a minute for the complete configuration message and click done.  And you're done.
