Airport Extreme Ethernet not recognized

I recently bought an Airport Extreme (bought summer 2016) and have laid a cable cat5e (100 feet) across my house, so I can connect through ethernet when I want a faster connection. The airport is located behind a modem 2Wire (UVerse) but acts as a router.

When I got the cable along the floor boards, it worked fine. I raised it through our basement (under floor) and it no longer works. I checked the cable with a LAN Tester and it passed. I also ran it directly from the UVerse for the MacBook and worked well. I would like to run from the airport, however, not the Uverse modem.

Can anyone suggest why she might have stopped working? (I tested the ports on the airport with other ethernet cables, and they are operational, as is the ethernet on my MacBook port).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it's driving me crazy.

You affected pairs...?

Even though the MB worked have you actually checked that it worked at full speed?

See this post for nearly identical problem... and why pairs are so important.

I just got a new modem (Arris SB6190) and now my Airport Extreme does not connect.  It worked fine with the previous modem (a rented one TWC).  Help!

Always recommended to reset the airport back to settings by default and then set up again whenever you have a new modem or change your Internet Service provider.

Turn off the new modem for at least 30 minutes. More is better.

Perform a hard reset on the AirPort Extreme, then it turned off.

Make sure that the Ethernet cable connects the modem to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port

After the power of the modem 30 minutes down, turn on the modem and let it run for at least 5 minutes by itself.

Then, turn on the airport and let it run a few minutes

    Set up AirPort Extreme again

Important note... There are many reports of problems with the modem Arris SB and airports. Both are great products, but they do seem to work perfectly together for some users.

  • I lost my WiFi signal after having placed a time Capsule in the system. Now the Airport Extreme will not recognize the system. Any ideas?

Any ideas on why my Airport Extreme will not recognize the system after the integration of the time Capsule in my system? Continues to have a flashing yellow light after trying all suggestions of technicians from the Apple Store and Internet provider.

Since we don't know all what has been tried, we will have to start from the beginning if you don't mind.

What exact models are your AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule? What is the brand and model of your modem Internet? I'll assume that Extreme is your "main" router and is directly connected to the modem by Ethernet... correct?

Do you have the Time Capsule (TC) connected to the extreme, by wire or wireless? What is your goal for the TC? In other words, will not be used to extend the reach of the extreme wireless?

  • Airport Extreme will not read Time Capsule trying to create network roaming

I have read all the forums on that alone and became frustrated. I am creating a roaming network for a time at an airport extreme capsule. I followed the directions of countless times without success. Time Capsule is set to DHCP and Nat, while the extreme is in Bridge Mode and has the exact same name and password network settings. Now, I have to say that the ethernet cable connecting is extremely long (well over 100 meters) and I know that the connection will degrade, some, but my lap top is able to capture the signal when I connect it directly to the cable coming from the time Capsule, so I know that the cable works. In fact, this is how I am writing this post right now! My problem is that the Airport extreme will not even read the time capsule at all. Can someone help me please? A friend told me that I might have to configure the router second to accept the connection at a slower pace? I don't know what that means. Sorry to be a pain.

has the exact same name and password network settings.

Just to double check that you mean the password and the name of wireless... not the base station name and password the names of base station must be different.

Now, I have to say that the ethernet cable connecting is extremely long (well over 100 meters) and I know that the connection will degrade, some, but my lap top is able to capture the signal when I connect it directly to the cable coming from the time Capsule, so I know that the cable works.

To the limit sometimes the gradient exceeds just slower... it does not connect.

If you check the laptop goes to the Advanced preferences network ethernet to the last tab has the speed dropped to 10Mbit? The extreme is not able to go as low automatically... and unfortunately there is no controls for the later models.

    What model is your extreme?

If it's a Gen5 or an earlier version... you can use older airport utility to set the speed of the wan port. This feature is removed from models later, of course... and the AU later so does she. If you can go try it using full duplex 10mbit. If that works try 100mbit full duplex, but you might find it's too fast.

A friend told me that I might have to configure the router second to accept the connection at a slower pace?

Your friend has a good idea.

I would have cut the cable in the middle... and put an end to both ends. Then place a switch on the line (not a router). A switch is a bit like an amplifier. It is to retransmit the signal so it can go another 100M...

The other issue is on pairs... If you have installed this cable yourself and terminated yourself you were affecting the pairs?

Ethernet is delicate to the wire because of its origins as the wiring phone... where the Center pair is for the phone.

  • Extended to Airport Extreme Ethernet ports not IP address assignment.

I have an Airport Extreme as my basic router and another Airport Extreme and an Airport Express, which runs from the router.

Since the extended Airport extreme, I have an Ethernet Hub and a Macbook Pro connected via an Ethernet Port, but every time I attach any device to the ethernet port on the Airport Extreme of the device has an auto assigned IP.

Although, when I'm attached to the long terminal Airport Express, it's the IP assignment correctly.

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

Is a way I can make the Airport Extreme to assign the IP address?

The two airports 'extension'... the AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express... are in Bridge Mode when they "extend a wireless network".  DHCP (the process of allocating IP addresses... is disabled when a device is in Bridge Mode... it's up to your "main" AirPort Extreme to assign all IP addresses to network devices.)

The 'extension' airports simply pass the IP address information to connected devices... the devices 'extension' assign IP addresses themselves.

Since the AirPort Express works correctly, it seems that the 'extension' AirPort Extreme is the culprit.  From what you have told us, it seems that if the Ethernet switch on the device is not working properly. We learn more about this unit before us to jump to conclusions.

    (1) what is a newer version of the 'tour' of the AirPort Extreme or an older version of 'flat' or 'square' to the extreme?  If it is the old version, we need the model number of the bottom of the unit.  It starts with an "A" followed four digits.

    (2) when you connect an Ethernet cable to one of the Ethernet ports to the extreme that extends, is the little green light next the port light?

    (3) what operating system you are using on the Mac or the PC that you use to configure the airports?

Bought a used AirPort Extreme (Genesis 4) of a person who showed me that he worked at home. When I try to set up as a Wireless extender to my last existing AirPort Extreme, he will not carry out synchronization upward with AirPort Utility. It appears as a new extreme, but get a message 'unexpected error' before or after the name. Have you tried to reset the two while it is powered and turning the as explained in the help.

When I try to set up as a Wireless extender...

Gen 4 airport will connect to your existing AirPort Extreme wireless... or... it will connect using wired Ethernet wired, Permanent?

.. .it will not accomplish the synchronization upward with AirPort Utility.

  • The airPort Extreme is not working after Firmware update

    Hello

At our office, we have several AirPort Extreme or TimeCapsules and one of them (AirPort Extreme) stop working properly after the update 7.7.7

The update itself is supposed to be ok and we have updated all our stations but it only seems to not work. I have hard and factory reset and somehow until last month worked more less, but from this week completely stop working and even reset does not work.

I already ran out of ideas and it seems that Apple wants to charge me $ 30 for a phone call.

Someone at - it a similar case? Should I take on the Apple Store?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can get it replaced if it is less than one year... That is to say in the warranty or if you have any computer or ipad or apple TV which is covered by the applecare will also cover the airport up to 3 years old if EI is less than 2 years, you can still buy applecare on a product calling... or you can buy say an apple TV and buy applecare for it.

If Apple do not repair them. only, they will be replaced.

  • Airport Extrem ' device not Born ".

    Dear friends

I have a serious problem with my Airport Extrem. I have a small network with an airport extrem and two airport express. The two express equip different flowers in the building as Wi - Fi. On the events of the airport, I also have a USB hard drive. This has worked for 2 years until this morning. All of a sudden, I couldn't access the hard disk more. I opened airport utility and saw that the events of the airport could not be reached. I unplugged the airport and after a minute, everything is ok. The airport is all work. But after 5 minutes the airport suddenly disappears again. I always have internet and phone just the airport is gone and now the connections on the hard drive.

I unplugged the Airport now probably 20 times and it's always the same. Œuvres for a litte while then his party.

Don't know what happened during the night, but there was no software update as fare, AFAIK.

    Can anyone help?

    Paul

This is a bug in common with El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks and Mountain Lion OS that Apple has not been able to fix reliably. It is usually not due to lack of all Apple, however.

Try a complete network power cycle. That would mean...

Turning off all network devices, computers, modem, airport, printers, etc... in any order you want

    Wait a minute

Only the modem lights up and let it run for 2-3 minutes by itself

Then, turn on the device connected to the modem, which could be AirPort Extreme

Keep powering devices one at a time a minute outside until the network is back

Keep an eye on the network

If the problem persists, we will need to check and probably change the IPv6 on your Mac and AirPort Extreme settings. The reason is that most Internet Service providers are trying to introduce and integrate IPv6 in their systems technology... and while most ISPs insist that this should cause no disturbance with connections, this was not to be the case with a number of Internet service providers.

  • Airport Extreme is not displayed on the plan of airport utility

I have just connected an old Airport Extreme 802.11ac but does not appear on my map of Airport utility. I try a soft, hard and factory settings and still not showing not allowed me to set up, so had to use my PC to put in place and work fine, but I still not able to set it up using my MAC and does not appear on the usefulness of the airport; What can I do?

Make sure that your Mac OS X is up to date.

Open the App Store, and then select the updates menu.

It should certainly appear in AirPort Utility window.

  • AirPort Extreme does not appear in the Finder.

I can't connect to the Internet and the configuration of the AirPort Extreme using AirPort Utility. Yet I can't find the AirPort Extreme on Finder. It gets frustrating because I use a disk external DRIVE plugged into the USB Extreme preferred airport for backups with Time Machine.

I tried my network power cycle but nothing has been fixed. Any help?

The base station itself appear not in the Finder. To access a connected drive, use the connection to the server command in the menu go to, provide the IP address of the base station, and where applicable, check the boxes in the general and tabs box preferences from the Finder for her.

  • AirPort Extreme does not channel 5 GHz

    Dear all,

I bought an Airport Extreme just yesterday. I want to use 5 GHz with the channels of weak due to regulations.

does not recognize my usb wifi adapter at high frequencies of 5 GHz in any case.

I use a Genesis 6 AE 7.7.3, Windows 10 PC with airport util version 5.6.1. When I manually change the selection of the Radio channel it restarts but does not save.

IPhone reports the channel to stay in 52, choosing 36,40,44,48 does not save after a reboot.

    Help?

    Greetings,

    A.E.

He subsequently worked by changing the setting directly from my iphone.

happy if he could be useful to someone.

Airport utility development team please note this.

  • Airport Extreme is not able to join the network

I'm trying to implement a repurposed Airport extreme in Bridge mode. Before, I was always able to use the "join the network" option, but now it only gives me the option to create, expand or inactive. I have a model a1521 (6th generation) that I have as my main router. I also have an express airport of old I have in Bridge mode. I am trying to add the a1143 (3rd generation) to the right network and put it in Bridge mode. Is intended to be used as a wireless print server until I can move my printer and the 6th gen at the same location. This option has been removed? am just missing something?

Apple has removed the option "Register" for the AirPort Extreme (and Time Capsule) when it introduced version 6.x of the AirPort with Lion (10.7.3) utility about 3 years ago.

If you have... or you can borrow for 15-20 minutes... a former Mac under Leopard (10.5.x) or Snow Leopard (10.6.x), or a PC with the utility AirPort for Windows installed on the device... you might be able to manually configure the old A1143 AirPort Extreme to 'join' the network using a version 5.x of AirPort Utility.

  • AirPort Extreme will not do handshake to connect devices.

I don't know if my question is related to the Cox IPv6 problem, but here goes...

I have a signal of quality, checked cable modem and my extreme is the latest generation with the latest version of the installed software package green watch on Internet and the Base Station Airport utility.

My Network recognize my password, but it does not connect... The box will not be displayed, just the circle of rotation for ever.

I have hard to restate the modem, I completely rebooted from the base station and deleted and restarted my home network. Everything seems to work!

    Any ideas?

    This modem do you have?

    There are two main issues...

On Cox IPv6 is a problem... so put IPv6 to post a link-local only in the router and the computer.

Then the problem is more fundamental... Some modems do not work with the airports of HQ... a single serial port modems SB are the worst offenders, but many others have problems... nothing is apparently not with one of them... but the combo does not work.

Sometimes it's just easier to buy another router of brand... and connect at the airport bridge purely as WAP... so it has no routing and so very little to go wrong.

  • Airport Extreme is not connecting to Internet

My cable modem works fine. Airport Exterme (7.6.4 - I just ran the Update Version) light is green. Airport Utility shows amber. WiFi is connectect to the network, but NO server or the internet. No idea what to do next.

    Restart the entire network...

In the right order... Modem wait 2 min... AE wait 2 min... then the customers.

No chance we don't say exactly what modem... brand / model?

What model is the extreme... not the version of the firmware... review of the material. The appearance of basis for the numbers in the first line of rubber or etiquette... for example, A1408 is gen5, A1354 gen4's A1301 gen3

Little close before gen3, it's time to buy a new AE.
