• Airport extreme not recognized by airport utility

  Comcast serves intermittent internet Chronicle, which I think is part of the problem but not all that.  Their router is connected to my Time Capsule., which seems solid, but I've reconfigured several times due to my primary problem.  I bought a new wireless airport extreme (AEX) this year, model A1392 base low, but that has not helped, and in fact the question continues to worsen.  It almost ruined my Christmas day.   I use the AEX to listen to my itunes music on my stereo, as part of the network wifi househol, not a new configuration, and I have another in another room as an Extender that I speak of because it is less important, but has the same problem.  I want my music to work but the AEX continues to fall out of the network.  If I get the orange light flashes the only option I have given is to "Forget this device."  Of course, I wish that gave me the option edit and return to the network, but no.  Forget that the instrument is always bad, because Airport utility will NEVER recognize, any device I restarted many times.  If I go back to the factory settings, utility Airport will allow me to bring back the AEX in my wifi network, but comcast will then intermittent me the new AEX fell, this time with a green light fixed and Airport Utility NEVER acknowledges again.

  I don't know why it should be so difficult.  Apple isn't more fun.  My AEX should integrate easily and always in my wifi network at home.  What is the answer, please?

  Express does not and was never intended to be used as your main router. This is an auxiliary device to extend wireless, plug in the printer, airplay, etc..

  You more than probably a better router.

  We have an airport extreme connected generation via Ethernet to a switch that provides network access to our entire House (about 10-15 connections) via wifi access points all Ethernet hard wired (linksys + apple) and a direct wire to a PC.   You describe a known problem with Back to My Mac which first appeared around July 13. The problem manifests itself in a message "Device not found" meant to be displayed in triangular AirPort your AirPort base station with a yellow icon utility, while the router of the device functions others continue to work normally.

  I have an airport Time Capsule 802.11ac 3 TB, implemented as my router, connected to a cable modem Comcast.  I also three units AirPort Extreme 802.11ac connected via an Ethernet cable and configure in Bridge mode.  The settings were all made with Apple AirPort Utility, using the default settings.  All devices are new, and have the latest version of the (7.7.7) package.

  My problem is that one of the SSA keeps disappearing from the network.  The AP utility shows all devices, but unity of the 'room' is still "missing in your network.  When I restart the device by unplugging the, the unit seems to work fine for a little while.

  Because the problem occurs on a unit, I think not that it is a question of ISP or OS.

  Has anyone else had a problem like this, and understand you?

This happens especially in that self installed ethernet... and even the ordinary electrician has problems... sometimes wrongly wired a pair of broken. You should test all ethernet correctly and make sure have full gigabit connections.

  4. use static IP via both a dhcp on the TC and AE reservation jumpered on the internet tab. Least IP moves the less work THAT DNS must do to stay.

• Problem with SlingTV through Airport Extreme?

  I have a Motorola SB6141 cable modem, internet of Time Warner and an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station (later) for my setup. While SlingTV is not a great service, it was $ 20 a month and gave me what I need and has been much better than that Time Warner was in charge me for the same channels.

  Despite the problems of freezing SlingTVs or what not, for a while it worked. But one day a few months back it just stopped working. When you open the app, it either does not open or just turns and turns to be forgotten and never access the content. But if I try on my phone (Verizon LTE), or another network outside my apartment with the iPad or computer laptop, it works. So at home, I tried to go directly from the cable modem and right in the Apple TV (previously an Xbox) and when I do that it works. So really what it boils down to, is my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station router. If I'm either directly connected to the Airport Extreme Base Station (Apple TV ethernet to the router), it will not work, or if I use WiFi via the Apple Airport Extreme Base Station it will not work. But directly to the modem cable or on any network outside of my home, the service works.

  So in short, something about setting up Apple isn't allowing the Sling TV app to open or work on any device. I even did a rest of the plant and installing my Apple router once again, and the same problem persists.

  FYI - I use Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and all the Apple TV, TV shows, rental movies and content without ever having a problem with opening or streaming. This only happens with SlingTV when you try to access content on any device (iPad, Apple TV, Xbox One, iPhone, Macbook Air) via WiFi or Ethernet via Apple Airport Extreme.

  Well first of all try to port forwarding. Slingbox I guess would use a similar to SlingTV montage... Unfortunately when I google for it I see just people having so many questions like you... no rigging, no answer they give up.

  I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n second generation base station (the latest version of the utility is 6.3.1).  The base station works well when it is used with a MacBook Pro OSX 10.7.5 2008 (Mountain Lion) and a 2014 iPad running.  I am now introducing a new Macbook Pro into the network and need to update the Airport Extreme firmware.  Here is the message I get in the utility Airport:

  "This version of AirPort utility requires this version of the firmware use AirPort Extreme 7.3.1 or later. AirPort Utility 5.6 update this base station. 5.6 airPort utility is available at the Airport Service and support. »

  I've read through past posts on this update, that I understand that I must use a version 5.x of Airport utility to upgrade the firmware.  I tried to download AirPort Utility 5.6 on my older MacBook; This attempt failed.  I think I'm reading that I need an earlier version (10.5.x or 10.6.x) OS on the old MacBook to do the upgrade. What is my problem?

  Unfortunately, you can not.  You will need to use... or borrow for 20 minutes or so... a Mac running leopard (10.5.x) or operating system Snow Leopard (10.6.x) or a PC utility AirPort 5.6.1 for Windows installed on the device.

  With this device, you can update the firmware on the AirPort Extreme.

  You cannot update the firmware 7.3.1... that is what is already on the AirPort Extreme.  You update the firmware to the current version of 7.6.4 as the AirPort 6.3.1 utility will read firmware from 7.6.1 or more.

  Another option... If you live near an Apple Store... they could update the firmware for you... assuming they have an old Mac around what they use for testing, etc.

  I was wondering if Airport Extreme is a true router, can I connect gout ethernet of my leased line directly in its WAN port, rather than put the provided ISP router between the two? I have lived many positions and all seem to suggest the connection of a cable/dsl modem to the WAN port on the extreme. Not found any information where it shows the ethernet line rented directly linking in the Giga WAN port, without any 2nd device in the meantime.

  If it's possible, then I guess also what public IP provided PSI can be put into the WAN of AE interface. Can someone develop more on it and detail the steps of configuration? Given that EI has basic firewall NAT, I think it's doable, but can someone confirm please.

  My Airport & time capsule are not connected to the modem, saying no dns server is available, however the modem works when connected to the computer. (Macbook) After hours of troubleshooting, I would just restore default settings and see if I can get it going again. Can anyone provide info on restoring the default settings?

  • Turning off AirPort Extreme for a minute or two
  • In the reset button on the back of the AirPort Extreme first... and keep taking them for 7 to 8 seconds... while simultaneously you reconnect the power on the AirPort Extreme.  (This step is a bit complicated for most users, because it takes almost 3 hands to do it properly)
  • Release the reset button to zero after the period of detention and allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme back on the way to a slow, flashing amber light status

  AirPort Extreme is now back to the State it was when you took it first out of the box.

  You can NOT extend wireless with the AE plugged into the TC.

  Your choice of plug in ethernet is good.

  Your wireless installation must be to create a wireless network... you can use the same name as the TC's wireless or different... It is totally up to you.

  What you did is due to a loop with the connection by both wireless and ethernet.

  If you want to use extend wireless... much slower option... then you disconnect the ethernet AE of the TC... If the connection is purely wireless.

  • Both the 2.5 and 5 G SSID version has the same value before and after the upgrade.

  • Before the upgrade, my laptop promises a 5G channel automatically all the time in my apartment relatively low.
  • After the upgrade, my laptop only selects a channel 2.4 G

  Troubleshooting:

  • I changed the name of the 5G network and define the network order to prefer the 5G network before the network 2.4.
  • Sitting in the same place compared to the router, I connect again all the time to the 5 G network.

  Conclusion:

  • The new firmware introduced a regression.

  Everyone knows this?  Have you checked what channel you are on?

  AirPort Extreme 802.11ac here is using firmware 7.7.7 and both bands are using the same wireless network name.

  The Mac laptop now connects to 5 GHz when I'm 3 rooms away from the airport.

  Before 7,7,7 I couldn't the laptop to connect to 5 GHz at all when it was still far from the 2 rooms.  I pay much attention to what channel the Mac is on, but when I looked a minute there, it's on 149.  Could have been earlier today on 161, can't remember.

  So, I see essentially the opposite of what you state.

  I have a new Airport Extreme with an external hard drive and printer, but all of a sudden the printer to stop working with a "printer not connected" message. The reader and the printer are connected through a powered USB hub. What is the problem?

  While keeping the USB hub powered in place, try to temporarily remove the hard drive and have just installed printer. Can you access the printer now?

  The symptoms are typical of a Gen 4 TC... so thanks for putting this info in your profile.

  The new firmware is not the problem... However, the drop of water that makes the vase overflow. Your TC underwent a total failure due to bad soldering... the attempt of the update was this slight element of stress which caused the catastrophic failure.

  If you are a handyman, there is a fix... It of free... and set up to present enough to say that I am fairly confident with your symptoms, it will fix it.
