AirPort Extreme will not do handshake to connect devices.

I don't know if my question is related to the Cox IPv6 problem, but here goes...

I have a signal of quality, checked cable modem and my extreme is the latest generation with the latest version of the installed software package green watch on Internet and the Base Station Airport utility.

My Network recognize my password, but it does not connect... The box will not be displayed, just the circle of rotation for ever.

I have hard to restate the modem, I completely rebooted from the base station and deleted and restarted my home network. Everything seems to work!

Any ideas?

This modem do you have?

There are two main issues...

On Cox IPv6 is a problem... so put IPv6 to post a link-local only in the router and the computer.

Then the problem is more fundamental... Some modems do not work with the airports of HQ... a single serial port modems SB are the worst offenders, but many others have problems... nothing is apparently not with one of them... but the combo does not work.

Sometimes it's just easier to buy another router of brand... and connect at the airport bridge purely as WAP... so it has no routing and so very little to go wrong.

  • Airport Extreme will not read Time Capsule trying to create network roaming

I have read all the forums on that alone and became frustrated. I am creating a roaming network for a time at an airport extreme capsule. I followed the directions of countless times without success. Time Capsule is set to DHCP and Nat, while the extreme is in Bridge Mode and has the exact same name and password network settings. Now, I have to say that the ethernet cable connecting is extremely long (well over 100 meters) and I know that the connection will degrade, some, but my lap top is able to capture the signal when I connect it directly to the cable coming from the time Capsule, so I know that the cable works. In fact, this is how I am writing this post right now! My problem is that the Airport extreme will not even read the time capsule at all. Can someone help me please? A friend told me that I might have to configure the router second to accept the connection at a slower pace? I don't know what that means. Sorry to be a pain.

has the exact same name and password network settings.

Just to double check that you mean the password and the name of wireless... not the base station name and password the names of base station must be different.

To the limit sometimes the gradient exceeds just slower... it does not connect.

If you check the laptop goes to the Advanced preferences network ethernet to the last tab has the speed dropped to 10Mbit? The extreme is not able to go as low automatically... and unfortunately there is no controls for the later models.

    What model is your extreme?

If it's a Gen5 or an earlier version... you can use older airport utility to set the speed of the wan port. This feature is removed from models later, of course... and the AU later so does she. If you can go try it using full duplex 10mbit. If that works try 100mbit full duplex, but you might find it's too fast.

A friend told me that I might have to configure the router second to accept the connection at a slower pace?

Your friend has a good idea.

I would have cut the cable in the middle... and put an end to both ends. Then place a switch on the line (not a router). A switch is a bit like an amplifier. It is to retransmit the signal so it can go another 100M...

The other issue is on pairs... If you have installed this cable yourself and terminated yourself you were affecting the pairs?

Ethernet is delicate to the wire because of its origins as the wiring phone... where the Center pair is for the phone.

  • Airport Extreme will randomly does not

My last model Airport Extreme will does not randomly (and too often)...

Customers always show connected but do not have access to the internet. iOS/mac devices can * usually * connect via the utility, bouncing the router and all is well.

There are sometimes a lot of time for the most convenient airport address connection and allow access. (Enter the password and nothing happens for a period of time...)

I'm a computer programmer, so I've done enough tests (check connection directly on the Arris DOCSIS 3.0 SB6141 SURFboard Modem) to be * reasonably * confident, it's the most convenient airport and not the modem or my ISP (Comcast).

There are usually about 2 dozen of connected devices (PC, tablets, phones, Roku, PS4, etc...), but at some point, only 6-8 are actually active.

    Any ideas/suggestions would be appreciated...

  • I just got a new modem (Arris SB6190) and now my Airport Extreme does not connect.  It worked fine with the previous modem (a rented one TWC).  Help!

I just got a new modem (Arris SB6190) and now my Airport Extreme does not connect.  It worked fine with the previous modem (a rented one TWC).  Help!

Always recommended to reset the airport back to settings by default and then set up again whenever you have a new modem or change your Internet Service provider.

Turn off the new modem for at least 30 minutes. More is better.

Perform a hard reset on the AirPort Extreme, then it turned off.

Make sure that the Ethernet cable connects the modem to the "O" on the AirPort Extreme WAN port

After the power of the modem 30 minutes down, turn on the modem and let it run for at least 5 minutes by itself.

Then, turn on the airport and let it run a few minutes

    Set up AirPort Extreme again

Important note... There are many reports of problems with the modem Arris SB and airports. Both are great products, but they do seem to work perfectly together for some users.

  • AirPort Express will not set up

It must be the 10th right now - all I'm trying to do is to add an AirPort Express Terminal to my home network, with the aim mainly attaching an external hard drive to it.

I have a BT HomeHub 5. Whenever I open AirPort Utility on my iPhone, iMac or MBP, I see the AirPort Express, start the installation, select "Add to the existing network", continue with the rest of the installation.

After awhile, it sets up, I press "done" and it appears in AirPort Utility window. If I change the settings on the airport, it crashes and I have to click on "forget" and do a reset.

The same thing happens if I connect my external hard drive to it.

The craziest thing: closure of the AirPort Utility application and reopening apparently cause the EPA have a yellow triangle next to him and I have no choice but to press on "forget", and the whole cycle repeats again.

    It's very frustrating...

all I'm trying to do is to add an AirPort Express Terminal to my home network, with the aim mainly attaching an external hard drive to it.

A potential problem here is going to be that an AirPort Express will NOT support a hard drive... as the USB port on the Express only supports a compatible USB printer.

-What are you trying to do?  Alternatively, your hard drive will connect to the AirPort Express using wired Ethernet?

The next issue will be 'how' you are trying to connect the AirPort Express Terminal to the HomeHub.  The Express will connect wireless only, or it will connect using wired Ethernet wired, Permanent?

(Your screenshot indicates that the Express use a wired connection to the Hub).

  • Airport extreme will reconnect not extended wireless network

The power to my Airport Express (2nd version; 802.11n) has been inadvertently disconnected and it does not now restore for extended wireless network.  I have an Airport Extreme (802.11ac) that hosts the network.  I have soft, hard, and factory resets to the Express.  Airport utility says that an "unexpected error occurred, try again."  I have, over and over again.  Airport utility finds the Express after a reset.  After initial connect failure, I brought the two devices in the same room.  Should I reset the extreme as well and start over?  V10.11.3 OS X, v. 6.3.6 Airport utility.  Thanks for your help.

At this point, I would say that you make the Express in the same room as the extreme. Go ahead and perform a reset on the only default Express. Wait for it to finish.

You should now be able to 'see' the Express in the list menu drop-down airport the two OS X menu bar and on your Mac AirPort Utility. In the menu bar is should appear as something like Apple network NNNNNN. It should appear as a Terminal AirPort Express, AirPort Utility.

If you get the message "unexpected error", check the following on your Mac:

    • Make sure that IPv6 is configured for: link-local only. You can find this setting in system preferences > network > advanced > Ethernet or Wi - Fi (according to your Mac is connected to the network) > configure IPv6
    • If your Mac is connected to the extreme by Ethernet, activate the Wi - Fi connector in system preferences > network
  • My AirPort Extreme end not implemented with the help of AirPort Utility

Bought a used AirPort Extreme (Genesis 4) of a person who showed me that he worked at home. When I try to set up as a Wireless extender to my last existing AirPort Extreme, he will not carry out synchronization upward with AirPort Utility. It appears as a new extreme, but get a message 'unexpected error' before or after the name. Have you tried to reset the two while it is powered and turning the as explained in the help.

When I try to set up as a Wireless extender...

Gen 4 airport will connect to your existing AirPort Extreme wireless... or... it will connect using wired Ethernet wired, Permanent?

.. .it will not accomplish the synchronization upward with AirPort Utility.

Which version of AirPort Utility?  If it's on your Mac... and you don't know what version you have...

    Open AirPort Utility

Click the AirPort Utility menu in the upper left corner of the screen

    Click on about AirPort Utility

Report on the version number you see here

You have an iPhone or a handy iPad that could be used to implement the 4th Gen airport if the problems continue with the help of your Mac?

  • Airport Extreme Ethernet not recognized

I recently bought an Airport Extreme (bought summer 2016) and have laid a cable cat5e (100 feet) across my house, so I can connect through ethernet when I want a faster connection. The airport is located behind a modem 2Wire (UVerse) but acts as a router.

When I got the cable along the floor boards, it worked fine. I raised it through our basement (under floor) and it no longer works. I checked the cable with a LAN Tester and it passed. I also ran it directly from the UVerse for the MacBook and worked well. I would like to run from the airport, however, not the Uverse modem.

Can anyone suggest why she might have stopped working? (I tested the ports on the airport with other ethernet cables, and they are operational, as is the ethernet on my MacBook port).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it's driving me crazy.

    You affected pairs...?

Even though the MB worked have you actually checked that it worked at full speed?

  • The airPort Extreme is not working after Firmware update

    Hello

At our office, we have several AirPort Extreme or TimeCapsules and one of them (AirPort Extreme) stop working properly after the update 7.7.7

The update itself is supposed to be ok and we have updated all our stations but it only seems to not work. I have hard and factory reset and somehow until last month worked more less, but from this week completely stop working and even reset does not work.

I already ran out of ideas and it seems that Apple wants to charge me $ 30 for a phone call.

Someone at - it a similar case? Should I take on the Apple Store?

Thanks in advance for your help.

You can get it replaced if it is less than one year... That is to say in the warranty or if you have any computer or ipad or apple TV which is covered by the applecare will also cover the airport up to 3 years old if EI is less than 2 years, you can still buy applecare on a product calling... or you can buy say an apple TV and buy applecare for it.

If Apple do not repair them. only, they will be replaced.

  • Airport Extreme is not displayed on the plan of airport utility

I have just connected an old Airport Extreme 802.11ac but does not appear on my map of Airport utility. I try a soft, hard and factory settings and still not showing not allowed me to set up, so had to use my PC to put in place and work fine, but I still not able to set it up using my MAC and does not appear on the usefulness of the airport; What can I do?

Make sure that your Mac OS X is up to date.

Open the App Store, and then select the updates menu.

It should certainly appear in AirPort Utility window.

  • AirPort Extreme does not appear in the Finder.

I can't connect to the Internet and the configuration of the AirPort Extreme using AirPort Utility. Yet I can't find the AirPort Extreme on Finder. It gets frustrating because I use a disk external DRIVE plugged into the USB Extreme preferred airport for backups with Time Machine.

I tried my network power cycle but nothing has been fixed. Any help?

The base station itself appear not in the Finder. To access a connected drive, use the connection to the server command in the menu go to, provide the IP address of the base station, and where applicable, check the boxes in the general and tabs box preferences from the Finder for her.
