  • I was not able to download the updates of Windows XP

I have a dell machine running xp / sp3 who has started having failures to download or install updates may 9.  Since then he has not installed updates even if it is set to do so all night at 04:00.  It is also doing the same thing on the other computer desk in the small office LAN we have running off a verizon for DSL router.  Chess began the same night, May 9.  Here to install updates from the windows update page also failed.  I ran the utility 'Difficulty now' from microsoft, and it has not fixed the problem.

Thanks in advance for your help to solve this problem.

Original title: I was not able to download the updates of Windows XP since May 9. Downloads keep failing.

If you have been playing around with the settings, you'd be wise to resinstall.  All that are "machine accounts" which are automatically defined by the system to the evolution of random passwords.  If you have accounts of changes of ntauthority to other accounts, you perhaps weakened the security level of the operating system.

No it's not a portal, that even Microsoft doesn't know what are these passwords.

Sometimes only for a few configurations downloads starts but is too slow, about 9 kb/sec. I tried with different PC but the problem remains. I don't know if it's a question based on my computer or on the HP site. Can someone help me?

    Hi rbafkis,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using the forum, it's a great place to find answers. You have the best experience in the HP forum, I would like to draw your attention to the Guide of the Forums HP first time here? Learn how to publish and more.

I understand that you are unable to download the software and drivers for your HP computer.

The HP site seems to work very well as I just downloaded on it without problem.

You are able to download from other sites?

Have you tried using another browser to download?

Have you tried running The HP Support Assistant to retrieve updates?

Have you checked your firewall and virus checker setting to make sure it is not blocked?

It could also be a firewall on your router setting.

Have you tried to download from a hotspot or maybe a friends house?

If you are unable to download the software desired, try another computer to download on a USB and then install the updates.

After installing the updates, you have the same problem?

    @ Evanston only!...

You see the effects of a hijackware infection! If you had used the computer longer, I might recommend trying to detect & remove infections. But it would probably take a week or two and I'm sure you have better to do with your time right now so I would recommend the following (which shouldn't take any more than two hours of uninterrupted time).

    See...

    Cleaning a compromised system
         http://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc700813.aspx

Personal data backup (which none should be considered 100% reliable at this point) then format the HARD disk and do a clean install of Windows. Please note that a repair installation (upgrade AKA on-site) will NOT fix it!

HOW to do a clean install of Win7: see "using the custom installation and formatting the hard drive option" (or "reinstall it Windows 7") http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7 article

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery").

After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

4 steps to help protect your new computer before going online
         http://www.Microsoft.com/security/pypc.aspx

VERY IMPORTANT! -Online free trial Norton will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the removal tool again Norton before installing updates AND BEFORE installing your new application antivirus (for example, Avast5 or Microsoft Security Essentials, free).

Tip: Do not install Spybot again; It's really overkill in Win7 my humble OPINION, especially if you are installing Microsoft Security Essentials.

  • Does not download the updates of Windows 8

I am trying to install the updates of Windows 8 so that I can install Windows 8.1. (The next problem is for the installation of update of Windows 8, NOT upgrading to Windows 8. 1) When I go to download updates, he said only: "Download 90 updates (0 total KB, 0% complete)" and it will not actually download anything.

  • Cannot install the drivers and software for HP Deskjet 5650

I removed most of the HP entries to my printer from the Start Up. Since then I have not been able to get the Printer Wizard to start. Recently, I uninstalled everything related to the printer from Add Remove programs. Since that time I tried to install my HP drive. It comes up with the error that the software does not support my operating system. My operating system is Windows XP Home Edition SP3. The software is looking for Windows XP. I downloaded the drivers and software from HP. When it runs, it starts very well. For some reason, it isn't detecting my printer. After you select how the printer is connected to the computer and the connection at the same time the software tries to finish, but he comes up with an error and says it cannot complete the installation. I am able to install the drivers, but when I try to install the drivers and software is when the error appears. How can I fix? It would be nice to use the wizard for printer hp again.

I found the solution to my problem. Before I could install the software and drivers for my printer that I had to remove completely all the software and the printer driver. Here's what I used to delete the printer driver. Restarting my PC after removing the printer driver has been the most important step. Everything works fine now.

  • Cannot download the updates of Windows, or indeed all Microsoft downloads

I recently bought a refurbished Dell Optiplex DX270 with XP Pro SP3 preinstalled. About a week later your beautiful auto update destroyed and I had an endless loop. After a lot of messing around and discussion with the supplier, I decided to re - install Windows using the recovery disk because there was very little on the machine.

This started the following problem. Whenever I try to download updates or anything from Microsoft, I get the can't access to this message.

After another 2 days of internet seaching and following instructions for this problem, that I still get nowhere, except that I have downloaded a lot of so-called patches using my laptop, then transferred to the Dell by using a memory stick.

I'm about fed up with this now, as the refurbished PC was supposed to speed up my work and prevent me from having to use an old PC that reboots whenever it receives the inclination (usually in the middle of creating complex spreadsheets). Instead, I spend a lot of time that I could be making money, by sorting the MS caused me problems!

I followed the advice on another thread to run WGA and display the results in the WGA forum, only to be told by the moderator of this forum that I should ask the question in the present case. The merry-go-round continues.

  • Download the updates of Windows online

Hi, so I re install Windows 7 a lot and I wanted to be able to create an image with all the updates on this issue, but there is no because I do not have a cd with a fairly large size. I decided to go into it and found out, you can modify a Windows 7. ISO and add updates the ISO image so that when you re install windows all the pesky 150 + updates are not necessary to download because they are already in the ISO image. I'm to halfway with success in creating a ISO custom but to install updates I need to add them to the image one by one and the search for KBxxxxx 150 + times online to the will take a * much time so I was wondering is there a site on Microsoft (or even another link) who has all these updates that are available for download. Thanks for any advice or help

I think a better approach would be to have a new clean install with all updates applied, and then create a system image that you can restore if necessary. He would just apply for new updates that have been published since and update you always the system image by creating a new backup after a new installation.

  • Drivers and software for HPPhotosmart5510e-all-in-one

I have a HPPhotosmart5510e all in one printer that does not print.  After troubleshooting, I found that I maybe lack of pilots.  I reinstalled the printer twice and both times I got a notice that said "device software was not fully installed.

In addition, 3 drivers unidentified failed.  I have the installation disc, but I went to the HP support to obtain the latest drivers.  Someone at - there a solution to my problem?

I understand that you have a problem for the printer installed on your computer. Have you uninstalled the device completely from the computer before using the drivers on HP website? Here is a link that goes about uninstalling the software for different types of operating systems. Well, he will guide you how to remove the printer software. After you have uninstalled the printer and restarted the computer; go to the control panel and check and make sure that the printer is more listed in the devices. After that, I'd go the drivers & software page to get the latest drivers available for your machine.

  • A system totally crashed after downloading the update of windows 7 (from VHP) reloaded vista starting the Dell restore partition and reattach the requirements. Now, how can I restart upgrade

OK, here's the deal... the Dell laptop had a recurring software validation fixed an error that I couldn't keep. I would fix it, Vista should go out and update itself and then I would reboot and bang, back right to the error again, I decided to scrap Vista and install W7. I corrected the error again once restarted in a stable Outlook, downloaded files of Windows 7 upgrade and then discovered that the netframework wasn't right, so I downloaded this solution, am to halfway through it and got a system error. HA! I'll just copy this download upgrade of the window on a USB key, hover over all my personal files on the usb drive, and reinstall Vista from the Dell partition, which I did. Then, I updated all the stuff with the Advisor to upgrade of windows, is gone in Windows 7 upgrade file I moved it to the USB and realized that this point in time, I was an asshole. What a breakthrough!  OK, now how to restart the upgrade process. I paid the money, done the downloads, message, so my hands, discussed and done all the other stuff I've done since the upgrade of Windows 3.1 (each time). Now what...

First I would contact the people who sold you download and see if they will send again free of charge - explain the problem.  I guess you still have the product key, they have sent you that shouldn't be a problem (it will work with any download the same version of Windows7).

Then run Windows7 Upgrade Advisor to see if your system can handle Windows7 or if she need for software or material removed or updgraded: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx.  Follow the instructions he gives as a result of the program (in fact, you should do this first - then you can deal with the download).

After that, you need to further questions in the Windows7 Forums: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7install/threads where people who specialize in the installation and upgrade to Windows7 will be more than happy to help you in the process.  This is a forum for Vista, and you need to talk to experts in Windows7.

    I hope this helps.

  • Tecra M2 starts to download the updates of windows every time

    Dear Sir.

I have a strange problem: every time I open my Tecra M2 and my Wifi to connect to the internet window starts to download updates, very unusual.

Normally, it is now and then.
Someone at - it a solution or suggestion?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

Why strange? This is nothing unusual. Microsoft edits and publishes updates to the OS.
If these updates are available, the operating system downloads and installs patches automatically.

Of course, you can disable these updates, but for me I have the dose makes no sense to disable these options.
    Do you use antivirus applications?

I hope so well, the antivirus application runs in the background and updates the index of virus files.
It is a simple process and you would know that it s always advisable to run the updates!
