All-in-one OfficeJet J5780 printer does not print manual duplex

Hi all

first of all, sorry for my bad English; I'm Italian and the Italian Forum, I can't find anything that can help with my problem.

I use my old (and wise... ;-)) OfficeJet J5780 on my laptop with MS Windows 7 SP1 64 bit for years without any problem. In particular, I use the option to manually print on both sides; This means that, once selected this option, the printer automatically prints odd pages in reverse order, and then a pop up tell me to take the papers printed, rotate and load them again; then I click OK and print even pages in the right orders.

Suddenly after any event special, for a few months, or even I select this option, the printer prints the odd pages and then nothing happens on my pc, no pop-up window appears, the printing process remains in the coil and I can not the printer to print even pages too. The only way is to remove the process, clean the spooler and restart it.

I also installed the latest version of the drivers and all of the full package of the HP software, but the problem is still there.

As a solution, I apply manually print the odd pages in reverse order first, then same pages, but it's really a mess...

Could someone help me?

Thank you very much.

Hi Phoenix69,

If this is the case then itreally could be drivers.

You can follow this link to completely uninstall the old software and then use this tool to automatically install the correct software for your computer.

Thank you!

  • All-in-one Officejet 6700 Premium does not work when a cartridge is empty

On my officejet 6700 Premium, I have had trouble since the magenta cartridge was missing.  I'm unable to print even if you select using black only, it appears on the screen that gives me the choice to order or cancel, it gives also this pop up if I try to scan documents to save to my computer and even trying to fax.

I am currently using Windows 7 Ultimate service pack 1

I am at a loss on it and a plan to buy a cartridge, but in the meantime all that I need is to use black and also to scan documents.  Is there a way around this issue?

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue.

You will not be able to print WITHOUT this magenta cartridge. Some printers (older models) can print certain colors without another cartridge in the printer. The reason why it is not printing because this magenta blends in with all the other cartridges to perform a true black.

So if it was another cartridge, it would give you the same error message and do not print.

  • All-in-one Officejet J6480: printer Officejet J6480 on Windows 10

I've owned a printer all-in-one Officejet J6480 for a few years.  I bought a new Lenovo computer several months that came with a free to Windows Update when 10 is which would be published.  I managed to load the J6480 software and everything worked very well, including the scanner.  When Windows 10 came out I upgraded to it and rebooted the printer software and everything worked fine.

Then about two weeks ago, all the J6480 would do is printed.  When I tried to open the HP Solution Center to scan a document all I had was a 'ping' and the Center does not open.   So I tried to remove all the HP software and re - load.  It would be the load but not completely.  I kept getting the message that "the application you are trying to use has been blocked to open because it could damage your PC or the loss of data. This is because some applications that worked with a previous version of Windows may not work the same way with Windows 10 ".  I do not understand why it worked fine for a few months with 10 windows and now it's incompatible, unless there was an automatic upgrade (Windows 10 or HP) that is now causing the conflict.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the software several times but to no avail.  Can anyone suggest a solution?

  • HP Deskjet 2540 all-in-one: HP Deskjet 2540 does not print

I bought my printer a while ago and implemented so I could print wireless from my Mac. The other day I had to print some PDF documents and printed first, but the other two never printed. In the queue, it says "ready to print" and the two buttons wireless to the printer are turned on. It also does not print when I connect it to the USB port. But when I print the test page, which printed fine.

    Hey @bess-stanton1,.

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I see that you have some problems with your machine printing Mac OSX 10.11 for the all-in-one printer Deskjet 2540. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once done:

    1. Disconnect the USB cable if it is connected.
    2. Turn the printer off.
    3. While the printer is turned off, disconnect the power cable from the back of the router.
    4. When the lights come back on the router, turn on the printer.
    5. Close any programs you have open.
    6. On your Mac, click on your Apple icon, system preferences and printers and Scanners.
    7. Hold down the CTRL key and click on an icon of your printer on the left.
    8. Click on reset printing system.
    9. Click the 'more' in the lower left corner.
    10. Select your printer from the list.
    11. Click in the box next to and select your printer from the list.
    12. Click on Add.

Please let me know if you can print after you follow the above. If you can, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • All-in-one Officejet J6400 Fax receive not always or not at all

OfficeJet J6400, Vista.  Connected to the laptop via cable and wireless.  It is connected to the same phone number line, with the answering machine.  Settings seem correct and even when I had previous HP printer.  4 rings on the answering machine pickup and 6 rings for fax receive.  The fax does not receive.  Even if auto answer is on.  I am able to fax, manually. (have not tried otherwise)

I have to figure out how to keep the auto answer on vs switch mode 'sleep' (of another post).  But sometimes it is not in Standby Mode and AutoA is off.   Regardless, machine does not seem to take faxes.  BUT, when you do the test with HPFaxme, it doesn't work. !

And, when you use the HP Solution Center, all settings are made, and sometimes their fax Test does not work.

Another question... in Fax configuration, which is PC modem in this question in quotes?  It's same as router? -"Are you using a PC modem (to access online services) on the same phone line as the device HP?   Answer is Yes or no.  Which is mine?

I don't have DSL, and fax is on the same phone line. I have a DSL filter connected to the wire, of course.  Another wire goes from phone line in the wall (there is a separator) to the router.  This configuration refers to highest question?

Is the best connection wireless or cable (printer for laptop)?

    Thank you!

I'm back earlier than expected.  I never ran any patches of the HP link because another action (s) would have helped (which is recommended for another problem I had).

    So-

I had the printer connected to the laptop via a USB connection and network.  (wire cable between the printer and the laptop and wireless through the printer setup)   Due to many problems to make the light stays on 'Auto response' (I posted on this separately in the recent past), I have the settings Fax arranged in a strange way to make this work.  So I didn't want to change these settings, what would be the recommended link for me to do.  For the problem of the 'auto response', I ended up connecting computer to the printer via the cable. And that probably contributed to this problem.

I kept the two connections since and chose USB (OfficejetJ6480 copy1) wire as my setting of the printer preference in the settings box of the printer in Control Panel.  I think that even when I did the Wifeless-network connection preferably in the settings area of the printer in the Control Panel, the receiving fax machine or tests do not seem to work (even if it was some time ago and not tried recently).

I think the duplicate connections was things confused.  The fax Test seemed to spend during a test of the printer settings button.  But he would not pass when the test has been made Fax Tools in the Solutions Center on computer. (And this I tested it today.)

SO, I deleted the wireless network connection and the "device" (officejetJ6480) in the settings of the printer in the control panel.  I simply removed it.  I have left the "copy1 OfficejetJ6480" intact and continue the preference for the 'peripheral '.

I have rebooted computer and run Fax Test of the printer and printer Solutions Center on computer configuration tool.  And they both passed Test.  Go figure.

And also, the test of HPFaxMe works very well.    Thus, 3 tests have passed. !

I hope this will be useful for someone even if it is confusion.

But I'm sure that one of the hotfixes in the MissTeri link should help too.

    Thanks MissTeri!

  • OfficeJet Pro 6978 all-in-one: OfficeJet Pro 6978 / will not download drivers

I just bought this printer Office Jet Pro 6978, All In One Printer.  It won't let me download the driver listed in the steps to implement, it fails every time.  I tried to use the CD that came with it, it gave me a message "this computer's operating system is not supported."   So this printer will not work on my 64-bit?  Or elsewhere?  My computer is a HP.  Where can I find a download driver for this printer for my operating system?  When it prints, it prints a nonsense.  % beginprolog % beginresource: file and so on with such things.  I am at a loss... Any help would be great.

    Hello

Sorry, but the printer is not supported on Windows Vista 64-bit.

64-bit support is only available in Windows 7 or later operating systems.

You can find the printer specs below:

    Vista 64-bit is not supported.

You must upgrade your operating system to a later version to use instead an OS 64 - bit, Windows Vista 32 - bit to insall or replace it with another printer, compatible with your operating system.

  • PhotoSmart 3210 All In One wireless network and does not know how to connect now lost.

Hi, I have a 3210 all in one Photosmart, and I can't find it on the network more.

I know that I've done worse of unistalling, reinstallation of the driver HP software and change the IP address of the printer. So I hope that someone can help me with this problem and return to the place where its still visible.

I have a PC with XP and a Mac with OS 10

Computers are both connected to the modem wireless cable router.

The printer is connected to the router via ethernet.

I can see the printer using a browser and entering the IP address of the printer. I can ping its IP address. The Mac can see the printer, but have installed the correct drivers to see (I think I can handle this, no need to worry about this yet).

The problem is that I can't see it in the "Add a printer" Wizard on the PC. So I can't add it to the PC.

I looked around the support of HP and they told me to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them. There was also mention of changing the IP address of the printer to a larger number, but that no longer works. So I went to the automatic assignment of an IP address to the address of the printer. And finally, I've seen mention to unplug the printer and by pressing 'ok' and 'Cancel' all plugging back in. He did a very long installation, but does not solve the problem.

I searched the forums for a solution and can not find one - so I've exhausted all help (Ive been on the forums enough to know to search before posting a question).

If Im not sure what to do next. Someone at - it suggestions? I don't really know what I can do to fix this problem: I'm sure it is just a corrupted file or bad setting somewhere I just do not know where he is.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    For your Mac:

If you're running Snow Leopard, the driver for the 3210 is compiled.  Open the applet Print & Fax under system preferences, then press [+] to add the printer.  For other versions of Mac OS, download the driver from here and run the installer.

If you continue to have problems with the Mac, reset the printing system Mac and repeat the instructions above.  Information about resetting your Mac printing system can be found here (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341)

    For the PC:

The 3210 is on the network, we will try to add the printer manually. First verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by accessing its IP address or host name.  You can find the IP address and the host name by printing the network configuration page.

Here is the sequence of manual installation of the printer driver for XP:

    1. click on the 'Start' button--> printers and fax machines.
    2. under print jobs, click on "add a printer".
    3. click on 'Next' on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "local printer attached to this computer. Deselect "automatically detect and install my Plug and play printer." Click "next".
5 under, select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and choose "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next".
    6. in the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port Wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to the same network that your computer is connected to. click on the button "next".
    7. under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the host name of the printer. You can also use the IP address of the printer if it is static. Click 'Next' and then click 'Finish '.
    8. now select HP in the manufacturers list, select your printer in the list of the models of printers and click the button "next".

    9. If you can't find your printer, you will need to find the installation CD and use the 'Disc' option to select one of the files hp*.ini. You can also select another model of the same type HP printer.
    10. Add the name of print spooler, and then click "next".
    11. click on "next".
    12. click on "Next" and "Finish."

When you mention that you have tried the HP troubleshooting page you were talking about article "fatal error" error 2203' (MSI 2203) displayed for HP Software Installation in Windows? ' " Otherwise I have suggestion follows first to try to resolve the first fatal error.

It is a mistake on the part of Windows. He thinks that the printer has lost the connection, when in fact, the connection is always ther.

I have networked printers at home, and I usually see this message once a day.

When I then click on the desktop icon to check the problem, the routine is able to communicate with the printer without any problems.

My printers are connected by a cable to a switch ethernet, so I KNOW that the connection has not been ignored.

It doesn't seem to be a way to STOP Windows generates this message.
