  • Accidentally erased all of the start menu

So, today, not really knowing what I was doing, I accidentally erased EVERYTHING in my Start menu!

I was able to get most of the icons back in there but there are three programs which are also pinned to the taskbar and if I start it, it will appear in the start menu, unless I have pin. So my real question is, how can we add a program that is already pinned to the start menu toolbar? (No, not pinning)
Another question is, can I get back my Start Menu what she looked like, let's say a week ago?
Answer quickly and I thank you in advance for any answers.

  • all desktop icons not missing, run any command in the start menu, can't create desktop shortcuts

All the desktop icons are missing, unable to create desktop shortcuts, without run command in the start menu... no info

If system restore is turned on and you can go back enough, restore the computer to an earlier date using Safe Mode.

Restart the computer and start typing the key F8, select Safe mode with command option. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the right pair and press ENTER. Log in as administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials. At the command prompt, type % systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER. Follow the prompts to restore your computer to an earlier date.

  • Windows XP SP3. Space above the start menu is empty, some programems wont shortcuts or all programs.

Recently installed Office 2010, but need technical assistance. Tech has created a new user account 'my computer', but on my screen to connect normal admin, space in the start menu above all rest programs empty. In addition, some desk top of page shortcuts will not run, no programs will work directly from the main menu.  Additionally, Windows update will not work. Outlook will start the new screen of the computer user, but not my normal log on screen.  I tried a number of alternative, none succeeded.  It seems that the fundamental problem is the connection to my main user on screen log has somehow been disconnected and I'm unable to re-establish the connection. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

  • Shortcuts in the desktop or the Start Menu has not created

    Hello

We use vWorkspace 7.2. and AppPortal for access applications on 2003 TS in transparent window mode. All published applications are accessible from the thick client or VDI computers. When I assign an application to vWorkspace folder, the icon appears correctly in AppPortal. Problem starts when I attribute the same request to "Remote Desktop files", in this case no entries are created, nor to the desktop or the Start Menu or any other option. When I change AppPortal to work in integrated desktop mode all entries are properly created.

There are already a ticket about this Quest (CaseID:887952) support. After many hours of phone calls from the Technical Department explained what I need is available only when all of the TS Office are published. I find it hard to believe that I did the same thing easily with other 3rd party broker connection software. What is your experience, do you have "Remote Desktop Folder" work without providing complete desktop TS?

    Best regards

    Adrian Tonina

    Adrian,

AppPortal is designed to run on your client computer of the end user and is able to show the shortcuts in the user interface or on the desktop of the client operating in desktop integrate mode (DI).  When running in mode of DI, only applications that are designated for the integration of office will have shortcuts created on the client for desktop/menu start.  You can specify in the properties of a managed application, Desktop Integration step.  Note that only applications that are assigned to the Connector vWorkspace records will be created through AppPortal.

Applications that are assigned to the Standard and customized remote office records are created through our configuration of the Shell (pnshell) module, and their shortcuts are created on the remote (TS or VDI) desktop computers.  If configured properly, you will see them on the entire desktop of the remote session.

  • After you restore rundll32.exe, I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared

Every thing seems to have returned to normal, but when I restarted my computer all the icons on my desktop and all programs in the start menu disappeared, and yet, all programs are always in: Control Panel > add/REMOVE programs.   I can still connect to the internet by going to-Start > my computer > view > go to the desktop. How to get back all the icons on my desktop. I tried a click right, but in vain. I also ran a scan complete antivirus. any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Joel S. Before I could put your advice into practice a friend recommended a friend who advised me to do a system restore, which he said he would be happy to do it for me. So look like an easy option, I agreed. It seems to have solved the problem (fingers crossed), but now it seems that I need to format the hard drive. If you have any tips on formatting hard drive I'm all ears. Thank you Owen

  • Cannot open all programs on my desktop or in the start menu.

Original title: my programs are not open, they are turning to outlook to open each

I can not open all programs on my desktop or in the start menu. The icons have changed to resemble the outlook icon. Even when I try to open Outlook it gives me a message command line argument is not valid. I can however some programs work but I need to open a file within the program.

This can happen if your file associations are broken.  Here's how to restore correct file associations.

    1. Press + R to display the run box, type RSTRUI and click OK.
    2. Choose a date when the computer was working properly, and then click on next to restore system files from that date.  The computer will restart with the fixed parameters.
  • BlackBerry smartphones can not see Desktop Manager in my list of all programs on the start menu

I just installed the Blackberry Desktop Manager for Blackberry 7100i Nextel (version 4.1.0.376).

It does not appear under all programs on my Winxp start menu.    It seemed to install correctly, but it just doesn't appear in the start menu.    I removed it by following the instructions (requiring the removal of certain registry entries and files and more using Add/Remove programs in the control panel).

I reinstalled the program and it will not always be displayed on the start menu.    I can run a couple of .exe files and run it manually, but I don't get the full program.

I am the administrator of my pc Windows XP Professional.

Any ideas on what could be the problem?

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Yes, that would do makes a difference. For reference, the best procedure must first install the full package of DTM (what version you need for your PIM version if you plan to synchronize via attached USB/BT), then, at the top of the DTM installed, your bundle of BONES of carriers (which modifies DTM so that it can provide you with options that apply to you).

You can edit your previous post - but it's actually better not unless there is a real error needing correction. It is good to leave the wire in place just in case someone in the future should have a similar situation... so that they can find your description and solution and I hope to find their response without the need to post a new thread.

Oh yes, once you are sure that it is resolved, please don't forget to mark the thread as solved.

    Best!

  • Arrange program shortcuts in the list of all programs on the start menu

If I organize my program shortcuts on the list of all programs from the menu start when I reboot they are all changed back.

As in, I move the "CyberLink PowerDVD 9" folder in the "Media" folder when I restart a new

Folder "CyberLink PowerDVD 9" is placed on the list of all programs on the start menu.

Now I have two folders "CyberLink PowerDVD 9" in all the programs one at the root of the list and the other in the folder 'Media' from the list.

How to stop windows 7 to change the list of all programs on the start menu?

Is it only occurs for the shortcut of CyberLink, or perhaps for each shortcut where you changed a location?

You can check this: Start > right click on all programs > you can select Open and open to all users > you can check is not listed in the two location?

Shortcuts usually appear at the previous location after a few updates to the specified application.

  • I have a shortcut on my desktop that I want to add to the start menu. How can I do this?

The program is listed in "all programs" but do a right click on it does not give the "pin to start menu" option as it does for programs that was shipped with Windows 7. (Please do not suggest that I drag it from the office to the menu start, in the start menu closes as soon as you click on anything, which makes it impossible.).

Too bad.  I just tried something and it worked.  I did drag the icon on the button start not open and here!, he was pinned to the menu.  So, I answer to my own question.

  • Some icons on the start menu are missing after a remote desktop session in Windows 7

I use Win7 Pro SP1 and whenever I come back to my office after finishing a session desktop connection to my computer remotely, I noticed several of the icons in the all programs from the Start Menu section changed to default page icons. If I try to open any programs that are pinned to the start itself, it will indicate that the program cannot be found. Notepad and Calculator in particular to keep more victims of this problem.

I also noticed that the audio controller is disabled until I restart.

I found a batch file that will rebuild the icon cache, but this very annoying to have to keep doing it because I have to remote into my computer almost every morning for the daily scrum meetings we hold in a conference room.

Does anyone know a permanent fix?

  • Pin a network to the start menu shortcut

Everyone figured out how to pin a netwrok to the start menu shortcut?  I tried to do it the way they say it, right click and select PIN to start menu, but the option is not there for programs on the network.  I was able to find Documents and Settings/User/StartMenu and I dropped the military in there, but they are not yet appearing on the start menu.  Help, please.
    Thank you
    Jessica

Create a folder on your desktop called networking programs or files, and then drag the icons for the files or programs in there.  You can then create a new toolbar by right-clicking on the taskbar, go to toolbars and add the new toolbar.  From there, all just point to your folder on your desktop and the appropriate files will appear in your taskbar tasks.  It's not pretty, but it works.

  • How to clean programs all list them in the Start Menu?

I use most of the entries in this menu and switch to sift through to find what I use. What can I do to remove all the unwanted? If I right click and press DELETE am I remove software involved?  If I create a folder for all the unnecessary elements, it will affect the operation of the any of them should I want to use a day?

Can I re have a useful list?
If they stay there I can the elements that I use to drift upward, more I use them?

I think a better approach would just copy the shortcuts you want on the desktop if you don't normally have to use the start menu.  Do that simply click Start-> all programs and scroll to an entry that you want and do a right click.  Then click on COPY.  Right-click on an empty area of the desktop, and then click PASTE.  Voila, you have a shortcut on the desktop for this program.  You can do this with as many things as you want.

If you start to remove things from the start menu, sooner or later you will find a need for them and have a concern for her.  You CAN sort the entries by name if you wish.  This is the default on my laptop.

    Good luck.
