All previous Desktop files lost after having a Vista system restore

My Vista hard drive crashed recently. I sent it to a place where my files could be restored and re-enter them. In which folder find "Desktop"? I lost all the previous Desktop files. .../systemprofile/Desktop is not in my computer

* original title - where Office REALLY? *

Try going to your drive C/users / / desktopand if it isn't there then the files were probably deleted permanently unless they were shortcuts to programs in this case, they would be somewhere in the program most likely files

  • All my desktop files and library are missing in Windows 7

Need help, I have a windows 7 Ultimate OS on an old Dell XPS of 3 years. Operating system implemented at level of Windows Vista home for more than a year. Last week, when I connected, I noticed that all my desktop files were missing. Library of the missing files (including photos, videos, music & docs). Whats funny is that none of the files are missing. However, all possible files in each folder are missing. There is no way that I could have them was deleted by mistake, can not think of a keyboard shortcut to clear all the files, but leave the files. I run avast antivirus, set to day & works perfectly well. No application installs & the only windows update I see around this event was for MS silverlight.

I backed up all possible files using a recovery agent & the thought of doing a clean reinstall of the operating system. PS - My research on the net has returned no results for this problem. Looking for all entries before going to come & clean clean my system. THX in advance

    * original title - need help with Windows 7, all the missing files *.

Here are the steps I recommend:

    1. Open the computer and open your folder C:\Users.
    2. Right-click on the folder of your user name and select Properties.  Unset as hidden, and then click OK.

You will be asked what you want to apply the changes.  Choose JUST THE FOLDER.  Although it seems appropriate, are not select subfolders, because some things down there, including the appdata folders and as such, must be hidden.

    3. Then go inside your userfolder and select all your folders accessible by the typical user (downloads, Documents, photos, video, etc.) and disabled the option down on those.  This time, pouvez you use the option 'apply to all subfolders and files '.
That will get you squared away back.
  • Vista system restore question after malware attack

Hello.  My wife's computer has been attacked by malware.  It all hid on the desktop and the start menu as well as all his personal files, has launched a large number of pop-up windows - up with fake error messages and then prompted to pay an unknown technical support source.  I used the Vista system restore to restore the system to a few days before the attack.  According to the instructions of Windows help, the system restore should not affect his personal files.  I was hoping that his files would be present again after the restore, but they are still missing.  The malware seems to have disappeared now.  Any suggestions on where its files can be located or what measures you need a professional to get back them?

    Hello

You may also still have some malware installed.

Read the information on the link provided (Section 19 and 21) on the way to "unmask" data and Start Menu as a few skins of Malware.

  • Files lost after setting the new account on windows 8

    Original title: files lost

    Hello

I recently bought an old computer from a friend and the first months I just signed in as his name.  I saved some video files and photos for windows 8 connected under his name.  After a few months, I got tired of seeing his name at startup then I set up my own account.  When I did the whole upward, it says no files would be lost.

Now, Miss me all the files I had saved.  The only name that exists now on this computer, it is my own... my friends name disappeared.

I lost these files forever?  Is it possible to recover?

    Thank you very much

Thank you.  I should have checked the trash.  I restored files.

  • How to recover email files lost after compressing files

I am using windows XP sp3, two days ago, I performed an outlook express file compression process, after only a quick jump

and asked me to do. Unfortunately, a part of the e-mail files (year 2011) were found missing in the outmail storage box after file compression.

I think that they were deleted automatically during file compression. Although I found a backup file in the trash, I can't yet recover

    the e-mails lost after recovery.

For your information: before compressing files - size storage box outmail - abt, 1.2 GB / after compression 827 MB

MY mailbox: * address email is removed from the privacy *

It is a common problem with OE because if we let the dbx files grow beyond a few hundred megabytes, they are subject to corruption.  You should do an immediate backup of your messages in the event of further loss.  So, if you have bak files in the trash or in the message store directory, you can try to recover them.

For references, see points 2, 3, 4 and 6 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2 and import the bak files see here: www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx#imp1 and if you were unable to recover what was lost, then see here: www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/ the latter is able to scan the entire drive for messages and bypassing the file system and if something can get back them It can.

  • Files lost after the cc update

All my cloud files are missing after synchronization and update. Suggestions please!

I had the same problem. Have you changed the default location of your files where CC initially placed on your hard drive? I did - but this last update reset my location location that I had specified in the default location. If that's what happened to you, you will need to go into the settings on CC tab and change again to where your files are located. Then cc has re - sync all, unfortunately. It took me several hours both of my computers to solve this problem. I hope that Adobe fixed this bug - so that those who pointed out our own location of HDD of the files do not need to spend by this on each update.

    * original title - I have a big problem! all my backup files, photos, music and the icons have dissapered from my laptop! Can someone help me because I really want to get my files back. Thank you amy *.

You must scan your system against viruses and malware.  Get www.microsoft.com/security_essentials and www.malwarebytes.org and do a full system scan with each.  Then, you may need to restore shortcuts and other thereafter.  It really depends on how messed up it.  It might be useful to take a reputable shop and have them back up the disk and fix problems.

  • After foolishly doing a system restore I can't find the files I thought I saved, and excel does not work.

Excel is asking for the product key and I have the key to the offfice of microsoft, I bought. This is not correct.

    Hello

System Restore makes the computer settings to an earlier point in time.

System recovery is reinstalled the operating system configuration (new condition)

System Restore and system recovery are often terms that are confused.

Many people use both terms to refer to reinstalling the operating system; effectively use the machine to factory settings; It seems that you have done.

Reinstalling the operating system wipe the hard clean of everything.

If you have done this, you can try this free program to see what 'lost' data, it can find.

    http://www.Piriform.com/Recuva

    Regarding your problem of Office:

You don't say how you have reinstalled Excel.

Are you try to put your paid for the Office product key in a trial version Office pre-installed?

If so, uninstall the Office of judgment and reinstall your version of Office purchased the original media he came on, CD, DVD.

And another thing: the product key on your computer is for the Windows operating system, not for the office.

Office must be purchased separately. (you said, but I wanted to clear it for you)

  • IPod Touch App data files are saved by the XP system restore?

I lost the data files for the applications on my iPod Touch after a BSOD on XP so that the update to iTunes.

"Restore from backup" in iTunes restores only the empty files, due to him having a synchronization since the failure (iTunes replaces its unique to each sync backup file), so I'm now scrambling for an alternative.

What seems to offer the best chance is to do a system restore XP from a restore before the BSOD Point - but I don't know if the Restore Point contains a version of the iPod data files, which are stored in the hidden folder C:\\Documents and Settings\ (username) \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup.

I found a note saying: the XP System Restore saves nothing of My Documents, but wonder if it means really nothing is recorded in Documents and Settings...

Can someone enlighten me as to the probability of the iPod Touch App data being in a Restore Point, please?
