Ouch! Please do not yell at us. We can hear you if you type normally,
    in different cases.

    Two points:

    1. to open a file (if you got by e-mail or in any other way) you
need to have an appropriate program installed for it. Thus, for example,.
to open a .pdf file, you must have Adobe Reader (or compatible)
program such as Foxit Reader) installed.

    2. to have the appropriate program automatically opens when you click
the file, you must have an association for it. There is more of
a way to create an association, but here in the most simple way: find a
program with the particular extension (for example .doc), right-click on
it, select open with. Choose the default program. Make sure the box
"Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is
checked, and then click the appropriate program (Microsoft Word, for example,)
If it's a .doc file), navigation to him if necessary. Once you have done
the association is created and in the future, you will be able to
    Open this type of file.

So what types of files are these? What are their extensions - part
of the filename after the dot at the end? If, for example, they are
.pdf files, you have Adobe Reader or a compatible program like
Foxit Reader (a better than Adobe Reader, in my opinion) installed?

  • All programs try to open with IExplorer

Can someone help please, I am open to all ideas. Everytime I try to run a program, for example, itunes, DBMS, even freshly downloaded antimalware software, the program will attempt to use iexplorer to run. This will cause iexplorer attempt to download the program already installed and run or save. If I choose to run this program, it will continue this cycle. If I save it, a copy will be saved in a folder.

I hope that there is a way to simply reset my settings so that my programs open where they open instead of in iexplorer.

I have windows vista 32 and iexplorer 8. I use bitdefender to search for viruses etc every day.

Please help, any suggestions are welcome. I really need my computer works NOW!

    Hi Kbuck6,

This looks like a file association problem.

    1. Click Start > default of programs.
    2. Choose associates a set of file or Protocol with a program.
    3. There, you should check the file extensions and the default program for it.
For example, if you find a .docx default program file should be Word.

  • Problem with Windows Media Player: "Server execution failed" and "files needed to display video are not installed or do not work properly.

I have a problem with Windows Media Player on laptop Lenovo G780. My laptop is under warranty (bought a month ago), but technical support Lenovo told me that the Windows Media Player program is not covered by the warranty.

    And this is a problem:

When I click on Windows Media Player - to about 0.1 sec I see it opens and closes the window and nothing happens.

When I select a mp3 or wmv file and right-click with the option open with Windows Media Player - I get a message: "Server execution failed" - I checked that all services with 'Media' in the name are running.

When I select a mp3 or wmv file and right-click with the open option with Windows Media Center - Windows Media Center opens with the message: "the files needed to display video are not installed or do not work properly.

When I select a file mp3 or wmv and right-click with option open with Windows Movie Maker life - see the video

I tried to turn / WMP and WMC - did not help
Tried to run as administrator - did not help
I don't see something suspicious under events

    What can I do else?

    Thank you

    Zarek

I had the same problem and then by chance, I tried a video on YouTube and it worked for me. Here's how I went on this issue and solved my problem:

    1. go to the computer, then OS (C).
    2. you will need to open Program Files (x 86) and Program Files.
    3. go to Windows Media Player in Program Files (x 86) and open the folder.  Then, remove the wmplayer file.  You may need to work around the error TrustedInstaller.  I'll tell you that, in a moment.
    4. in Program Files, go to the same folder for Windows Media Player and select the same file again. Wmplayer.  Copy the file in another window open.  Copy ensures that if the question comes up again you can at least try to fix it again.
This should be the end of your problem.  If you need to circumvent the TrustedInstaller question is how:
    1. right click on wmplayer and select Properties > Security > advanced > owner > Edit > other users and groups.
    2. Enter your username and then click on check names.  Click OK.
    3. close the dialog boxes as he has requested.
    4. open again the properties and click Security.  Select your username from the list and click on edit.  From there, select full control.
This should give you full control over the removal of the original file for WMP and easily allow you to copy the other files (x 86) programs.
Please let me know how it goes for your problem.
  • Cannot access my music files on Windows 7 with Windows Media Player

I am using Windows 7 64 bit - I have a folder full of music music. I can access files and play them using VLC player - no problem.
I can't play one by using Windows Media Player. I tried to add my music files to WMP library without success.
I tried all suggestions in line with no luck.

What do I need to reinstall WMP - if so - where can I download it.
I do not see WMP when I open the folder "Programs and features" in the control panel.
I don't know if that means anything.

After I pressed 'Start' - 'all programs' - I can bring up 'Windows Media Player '.
    It opens.
I can watch movies that I downloaded.
I can't play music from my music library.
