  I am running Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion a1600n and sometimes in the last month the CD/DVD drive stopped recognizing DVDs and CDs. It is opening and closing, and turn the disc when I put them in the drive, simply do not recognize anything beyond that.

  From what I could find online code 10 was a general hardware error. I tried switching to another Cd/DVD drive and even changed the cable to the inside to see if it was the error, it was not.   Unplug the printer. It uses a USB cable and therefore using LPT1 for parallel printers older is not possible.

  Download the latest software from the HP Web site (or use your installation CD) and run it.

  Do not connect the printer until told to do so by the installation routine.

  I think you just reinstall the driver for the laptop. You can download the driver on the Toshiba page or alternative of the Toshiba WLAN European portal: http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan

  The Realtek 8192 WLAN Card driver is compatible Windows 7, so it should work normally. Just launch the setup.exe file and follow the instructions on the screen. After that restart your wireless card should work again.

  AFAIK memory PCI controller is Intel Turbo Memory module, so you would need Robson package driver of the official website of Toshiba.

All USB ports stopped working.  When I plug a usb card, windows makes the sound as it connects and the card gets power (light).  I see the map appear in disk drives in Device Manager.  The player does not display in windows Explorer or disk management.  In Device Manager, it has an exclamation point and says that the device cannot start.

  Strangely, I have a USB keyboard and mouse and they work very well.

  It seems that the c:\windows\system32\sndvol32.exe file is missing.

  This may occur if your antivirus/antimalware application thinks the file is suspicious and quarantines (effectively delete) the file.  You can replace the missing file with a backup copy of the file that is in another folder on your system.

  Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

  Assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive...

  We know that XP keeps copies of critical system files in the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

  Using the Explorer, search for or navigate to the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

  Locate the sndvol32.exe file, right-click, choose copy (it copies the file to the Windows Clipboard).

  If your Solution Explorer settings are not set to display file extensions, you will see only a file called 'sndvol32' which has an icon that looks like to the volume control slider (this is the file you need).

  If the file is missing in the dllcache folder, look for a copy of the file in this folder:

  c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

  Browsing from a level in the following folder:

  c:\Windows\System32

  Right-click on an empty area in the window of c:\windows\system32 and choose Paste to paste in the missing file where it belongs.

  Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

  Now try your features sounds and Audio devices.

  Note that run sfc/scannow will not replace the missing file because it is not this that sfc/scannow does.

  Hello. I hope someone can give me some advice on this subject.

  I turned on my laptop the other day and none of the USB ports worked. Any device I plug is not recognized and there is no power to the USB ports. (Goal of mouse does not light, bright external HHD is turned off. USB flash drives do not light up.) Powered deviecs are not also recognized is more than a problem of USB power.   I tried to uninstall all USB drivers without result, I started from a Linux CD and a Win7 ERD without result. I also tried a hard reset, also without result. I have reset the BIOS and verified that USB is enabled in the BIOS but that also made no difference.
